Summary When the Cullens, including her beloved Edward, leave Forks rather than risk revealing that they are vampires, it is almost too much for eighteen-year-old Bella to bear, but she finds solace in her friend Jacob until he is drawn into a cult and changes in terrible ways

For my dad, Stephen Morgan— No one has ever been given more loving and unconditional support than I have been given by you. I love you, too.

These violent delights have violent ends And in their triumph die, like fire and powder, Which, as they kiss, consume. Romeo and Juliet, Act II, Scene VI

PREFACE

I FELT LIKE I WAS TRAPPED IN ONE OF THOSE TERRIFYING nightmares, the one where you have to run, run till your lungs burst, but you can't make your body move fast enough. My legs seemed to move slower and slower as I fought my way through the callous crowd, but the hands on the huge clock tower didn't slow. With relentless, uncaring force, they turned inexorably toward the end—the end of everything. But this was no dream, and, unlike the nightmare, I wasn't running for my life; I was racing to save something infinitely more precious. My own life meant little to me today.

Alice had said there was a good chance we would both die here. Perhaps the outcome would be different if she weren't trapped by the brilliant sunlight; only I was free to run across this bright, crowded square. And I couldn't run fast enough. So it didn't matter to me that we were surrounded by our extraordinarily dangerous enemies. As the clock began to toll out the hour, vibrating under the soles of my sluggish feet, I knew I was too late—and I was glad something bloodthirsty waited in the wings. For in failing at this, I forfeited any desire to live. The clock tolled again, and the sun beat down from the exact center point of the sky.

...NEW MOON New Moon is the second book that integrates part of the Twilight Saga written by Stephenie Meyer. Definitely a book that can steal more than a tear. The story is well known for the films that have come out, but definitely the book is a totally different experience. It all begins with Bella's 18th birthday, the protagonist. Its not a very good day for her because she ages older than Edward, her boyfriend. Although Bella does not want celebrate her birthday, Edward and his sister Alice, which become friends in Twilight, the first book in the series, manage to convince her to go to the Cullen house. Bella's birthday ends in a disaster when Bella cuts her finger opening a gift. This bleeding makes Jasper uncontrollable and attacks her, however he doesn’t get close enough to bit her. Edward gets to the conclusion that Bella would be better off without him, so he leaves a dramatic message saying: ITWILL AS IF I'D NEVER EXISTED. Bella goes into an intense depression that last a few months where she does not want to spend time with anyone, she just thinks about Edward 24 hours a day. During those months she resigns and begins to approach Jacob, feeling a little comfort to her pain. With him she did very dangerous things, but everything had a reason, she so masochistic that every time she risked her life she would hear the voice of her beloved Edward. Jacob was about to become the Bella's best friend when he started to ignore her calls. Unable to understand...

...WATER He was gone. Love, life, meaning…over. My life was torn apart just seconds after he tried convincing me that he was not the right one for me. His word felt like a hole that was punched right through my chest. My vampire boyfriend, Edward Cullen had left me. It all happened so quickly remembered the night before, the Cullens were celebrating my birthday, when one of the Cullen family’s most feared incident of happening happened to me, occurred. Jasper, Edward’s brother, almost killed me when he smelt the drop of blood that oozed out of a paper cut I received when I was opening a gift. And now, they were gone. He was gone. They had left me. Alone. Little did they know that they had left me, unprotected, from the red-haired vampire, Victoria, who was out to get me. It was months until I realized that the love of my life was gone…forever. My best friend, Jacob Black, was there for me when I was alone or whenever I felt very down. Soon the hole I had in my chest felt as if it was healing. It was very comforting to have Jacob around. We did so many activities together that made me keep my mind off Edward. Then, one day, when I was doing something reckless, I heard a voice. A familiar, beautiful voice, soft like velvet even though it was irate. It was his voice. Edward’s. My muscles locked in place, froze me where I stood. Was I hallucinating? Soon I found out that whenever I did anything reckless, Edward appeared in every situation. Jacob promised that he would take me...

Themes In Elie Wiesel's 'Night'

... Twilight tells the story of Bella Swan, an average high school girl who falls in love with a vampire, Edward Cullen. The story Twilight has many themes, however the most prominent are love, choice, and sacrifice. Twilight is a story of forbidden love. As quoted in the book “And so the lion fell in love with the lamb” as we have famously read. That is because Bella is a human and Edward a vampire. Bella is Edward’s prey. They both know being together is dangerous, but their feelings are so intense they feel they have no choice but to be together. Although Edward can’t give Bella a normal human life, he can make her happy despite all the challenges that they face. Bella said about Edward: “About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him-and I didn’t know how potent that part might be-that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.” Bella's thoughts show how strongly she feels about Edward. Choice in Twilight is an important element of the story. The Cullens choose to prey on animals instead of humans. Bella and Edward pursue a relationship even though Edward sees Bella as his prey. The biggest choice is deciding if Bella will become a vampire? Will Edward choose to let that happen? In the end, Bella has to choose between staying human and joining Edward in eternal life as a vampire. Choosing to be a vampire has risks for Bella, including losing Jacob and their friendship...
