Implementing monitoring and codes of conduct are just one step in ending child labor. Monitoring alone is not sufficient in making a considerable change in child labor. “Does Monitoring Improve Labor Standards? Lessons from Nike” written by, Richard Locke, Fei Qin, and Alberto Brause, published in Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative, Working Paper No. 24 by Harvard University in 2006 states that, “monitoring alone appears to produce only limited results”. In 1992, Nike created its Code of Conduct for its suppliers to sign and abide by, as it was discovered that factories were employing children to do their labor. In an effort to enforce these codes, Nike assembled a team to monitor their suppliers (Locke, Qin, and Brause 2006). Nike’s
