1. What does RAID stand for?
Short for redundant array of independent or (inexpensive) disks. It’s a category of disk drives that employ two or more drives in combination for fault tolerance performance. http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/R/RAID.html

It can be used to improve performance through concurrent access and/or create large logical disks out of multiple physical disks.
5. Why do you think that RAID 1 can be the most expensive? Why would people utilize it if it’s so costly?
Raid 1 is the most expensive because it copies your stuff twice and the rest doesn’t. Because people want top of the line stuff.
6. If you, as a home computer user, were to purchase a form of RAID, which would you choose and why?
I would use RAID 1. I would choose RAID 1 because it would have copy of everything just in case I lost something.
7. What is the difference between software RAID and hardware RAID?
Unlike software RAID, hardware RAID requires specialized hard ware to handle drives.
Software RAID is cheaper then hardware RAID.
Unlike hardware RAID, software RAID takes up a portion of the hose processor.
Hardware RAID is more reliable compared to software RAID.
