(A) Identifying information
Mario Martinez is a 24-year-old male. He reports that he is from San Antonio, Texas and that he is of Hispanic ethnicity. The client reports that he lives with his wife Candice in the state of Washington. The client is a retired air force veteran and currently works as a security guard. He is the second child and has three siblings, two males and one female.

(B) Description of agency setting
The setting of the sessions is the Virtual field practicum for USC. The client meets for 45-minute sessions through the virtual academic center. During the virtual field practicum session, an evidence-based practice is used such …show more content…
He also claims that this causes some arguments with his wife because she likes to socialize and go out with her friends. The client claims that he spends a lot of time watching TV/ Netflix and is up at late hours of the night doing that. He also states that his difficulty sleeping is greatly affecting him. He explained that he tries to go to sleep and hears noises and wakes up and can’t go back to sleep. The client states that he recently purchased a motorcycle, which has helped, increase his outings.

The Client expressed that a sinus infection has been affecting him greatly. He noticed a decline in his daily activities due to the infection. The client visited a doctor and was prescribed antibiotics to treat the infection. The client reports that he drinks 3 to 4 beers every night at home, usually alone. The client reports that he has trouble sleeping at night and as a result has fallen asleep at work, which caused in to get in trouble. The client reports that he does not have any legal issues at the time.

Assessment
(A) Client’s psychological functioning
The client shows to be a young coherent man. He seems able to make appropriate decisions according to the situations he finds himself in. He also shows to have appropriate problem- solving abilities. He seems to care for his wife and his relationship. Attending counseling due to his wife requests shows that he is committed to improving his relationship. The client does not seem to be at risk of harming himself or others however, his energy levels have decreased which can be a sign of depression.

(B) Client’s emotional functioning
The client shows to be experiencing communication difficulties with his wife. Him and his wife argue more than before. After his deployment, the client has decreased his activities and socialization. He doesn’t feel like going out anymore and prefers to stay home all day. His motivation has also decreased and he is unable to accomplish normal activities he used to. The client shows to have difficulties expressing his emotions. He is not used to talking to people about his feelings or his problems. He also has difficulties sharing his feelings with his wife. The client shows to have anger management difficulties. He becomes easily angered and is not clearly aware of his triggers. He looks tired and seems irritable. The client’s affect shows to be inappropriate; he doesn’t show many emotions through facial expressions. He keeps the same face throughout the session even when discussing difficult
