First of all, I would like to thank you for this opportunity for me to address some of the emerging challenges that our IT department faces ahead of us. During my two-year tenure as a manager of the department, our company has experienced a dramatic increase in the volume of data which we handle. We expect the size of the database to further enlarge as the company plans to expand its area of operation. As (company description), we recognise this large amount of data as a strategic corporate asset. Understanding the various situations in which this invaluable data can be lost, there is, hence, no doubt that we should implement a reliable backup and recovery solutions in the most cost-effective and efficient manner. Our IT department has been utilising tape-based data backup since the company’s foundation and there is a number of disadvantages to this approach including the slow access speed and the uncertainty of data integrity. Moreover, further increase in the volume of the data in the future is likely to reduce the inefficiency in backup and recovery operations. After careful considerations, I would like to propose the implementation of disk-based deduplication backup and recovery solutions. (key benefits)

The question on the data integrity may further arise considering the tape drivers’ susceptibility to bits of dust and grit in the data centre air and on the cases of tape media. Tape drives also start and stop a lot as the data stream flows in and out of the backup server. These processes can cause wear and tear in a typical tape-based backup environment. In a busy environment, the reliability level of the data backed up drops sharply, particularly after three

In order to get a background which will help when developing the new system, your supervisor asked you to research the current Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) currently used by the company. You must research the system components and report back to your supervisor , the Telecommunications Manager, within a week. 1. Describe a local land line phone system based on the following Landline Telephone Components: a. Local Loop a local loop is the wired connection from a telephone company's central office in a locality to its customers' telephones at homes and businesses. This connection is usually on a pair of copper wires called twisted pair. The system was originally designed for voice transmission only using analog transmission technology on a single voice channel. Today, your computer's modem makes the conversion between analog signals and digital signals. With Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) or Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), the local loop can carry digital signals directly and at a much higher bandwidth than they do for voice only. b.
