Introduction
Interconnect devices is the Internet device. Because Interconnect devices, we can easy to communication with other friends. No matter where is he/she just need to use internet devices then we can communication. Such as instant message and e-mail. But did you know how the devices work?
There have different Interconnect devices in this world. For example: repeaters, hubs, switches, bridges, and routers. These five interconnecting devices have different features and functions. We will discuss the features and functions of each interconnecting device.

Router
A router act as a device between other networks Connection. A router main features and functions are making sure data is send to the correct destination. For example: …show more content…
Filter out broadcast transmission to alleviate network congestion.
The router will be let different network data can be "translation", let they can mutually "read" to understand each other's data, this allows different network interworking. Usually Campus network is use router Connect to the Internet.
The mode of operation of the router and switch is different. Switch using the physical address (MAC address) to forward data, and the router is using a network address (IP address) to forward data. Further router has data processing, firewall and network management functions.
In addition, the switch occurs at the second layer of the OSI reference model (data link layer), and routing occurs in the third layer, i.e. network layer. This difference determines the routing and switch of information in the process of moving the need to use different control information, so that their own way both functions are …show more content…
It works in the data link layer, not only to extend the distance or range of the network, and can improve network performance, reliability and security.
Bridge has the following characteristics:
1) Filter address, the bridge should be able to identify a variety of address, selectively allow data frames through the bridge. For example: prohibiting access to some dangerous Website.
2) A bridge has store and forward capabilities to adapt to connect different MAC protocols together constitute a different network environments.
3) Relay function dependent on the bridge address MAC frame, thus completely transparent.
(4) The bridge will be a larger network is divided into several segments, will help to improve the reliability, availability and security.
Of course, there are drawbacks bridge its disadvantage is that, since the bridge before performing forwarding and received first frame buffer, it will introduce more time. Since the bridge does not provide flow control, when the potential to flow large overload, resulting will lost frames.
