1. (1)Why did you decide to serve this population and this organization? What is the connection to your life story, heartaches, interest or passions?
In the world that we are living, there are everyone has their own unique attributes. There are individuals who have excellent health, and some are not as fortunate to have the healthy life that they imagined. Growing up, I’ve always seen individuals that have physical challenges, and which they come to have limitation in life. Back in my native country, Haiti, it was not unusual to see children’s that are anorexic or malnourished. Thus, my heart begin to ache for these suffering children’s. From that time I became very passionate about health issues, of not only children’s, but globally. As years goes by, my passion grew even more; thus, I knew that I was going to be a medical doctor when I grow up. However, there’s a category of individuals that I remark of receiving mistreatment from the society. This category is the individuals that are classified as disabled. …show more content…
I am happy when I see that others in my society are happy. Society tend to be careless about the disabled, and are uncivilized toward them. In the Miami-Dade College North Campus, access services is the location that I saw that needed the most attention. I chose that location because the individuals with disabilities are the one that need the most attention, because it demonstrate their desire to learn despite the physical barriers that they have. It truly motivates me to help these individuals, because I want to experience and understand the struggles that they face before earning a college
