Active listening
This is most important and primary key to the effective communication. it involves listening with all senses by giving full attention to the patient(Estes, Calleja, Theobald, & Harvey, 2013).it is important that active listener is also seem to be listening otherwise the patient may conclude that what they are saying by feeling uninteresting to the listener, interest can be convey to the patient by using both verbal and non-verbal messages such as eye contact ,nodding your head and smiling, agreeing by saying yes to encourage them to continue.so that they will open up and communicate more easily ,openly and honestly(Putts, 2010).
Establish rapport The first impression you make on your patient will determine the outcome of the rest of the interview. It is believed that to establish good rapport the interviewer needs to maintain personal connection with a patient in a way so that the patient feels ease with you to discuss his/her personal problems (Putts, 2010). Breast cancer is very sensitive matter where patients often feel anxious and uncomfortable about sharing their problem because of feeling embarrass, disrespected or simply not being heard. Therefore listening to them actively, respectfully calling them by their name, follow up-call and survey is kind of way to show them you do care about them (Estes, Calleja, Theobald, & Harvey, 2013).

NURSING CURRICULUM In Partial Fulfilment of The Final requirements for the Subject CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT ________________________________________ Prepared and Submitted by: ROTSEN J. JAMBONGANA, RN CHARMAINE S. DACLES, RN ANA TESSA SOLIGUEN, RN STEPHANIE VARELA, RN TRACY SARMIENTO, RN MICHELLE CAñA, RN PEARL DOLALAS, RN ________________________________________ Respectfully Submitted to: MRS. MERLE SALVANI, MN Professor MASTER IN NURSING University of St. La Salle March 2011 Abstract At the undergraduate level, individual college and university administrations and faculties sometimes mandate core curricula, especially in the liberal arts. But because of increasing specialization and depth in the student's major field of study, a typical core curriculum in higher education mandates a far smaller proportion of a student's course work than a high school or elementary school core curriculum prescribes. In the United States, most control over education rests with the various state governments. Each state has different laws and objectives for education, but the states generally permit schools and colleges to operate with considerable independence and autonomy. As a result, American educational institutions can vary widely in the type and quality of their programs. To maintain consistent standards of education, the U.S. Department of Education officially recognizes private accrediting agencies...

Regulatory agencies have been around for many years, but the regulation of nursing actually began as a registry process to protect the public and nurses. A regulatory agency is authorized to create and enforce rules or regulations that carry the full force of the law(Flook, 2003). A wide range of regulatory agencies apply in different ways in the health care field. Health care regulations are developed and enforced by all levels of...

Ethical Case Study for Nursing Roles 1 @ Itt Tech

...is important for nurses to study the development of nursing theory because without an idea of where you have been, how can you know how, why, when, or where to go “ (Cherry and Jacob, 2014, p.75). Theory leads to research, research leads to science, science leads to practice, and practice then cycles back to theory. New theory emerging from practice will generate new studies that will, in turn, produce new knowledge for practice. All of this contributes to improving nursing practice. It is a very sad situation when nurses and nursing students feel that studying and applying nursing theories is irrelevant and a waste of time. Often nurses and nursing students are not very interested in educating themselves about various nursing theories. They much rather be more concerned about the technical and administrative end of nursing. The scenario with Mary Jane and her coworkers is a very good example of how many nurses show lack of interest in the studying and application of nursing theory. I believe Mary Jane should have responded by telling her coworkers that nursing theory is just as important and vital to nursing practice as anything else you learn in nursing school. She should have asked them if they both would agree that the major aim in nursing is to see your client reach his or her highest attainment of health. Next, she should go on to explain how Imogene King’s theory of goal attainment was beneficial to her and her client. Nursing is highly focused on client...
