I would disagree that Wood’s decision to leave Microsoft and start a non-profit organization the will fight against illiteracy had anything to do a sense of spirituality. Woods had strong beliefs that he can make a difference, and that belief comes from inner desire to make a change. Wood’s felt compelled to help these children, because he felt that every child deserve a chance to learn. Thus, using the motivational theories discussed in chapter, Woods decision to leave Microsoft can be compared to Victor Vroom’s Expectancy theory which argues that work motivation is determined by individual’s beliefs regarding effort/performance relationships and work outcomes (Wiley & Sons p.118). Wood’s decision to leave Microsoft and start-up a non-profit organization Room to read, to combat literacy can be compared to Vroom’s Expectancy theory of motivation since it has to do with a person’s beliefs, performance and work outcome that they can make a difference. Also Vroom’s Expectancy theory has to do with strength of individual’s capability to accomplish something and make a change sooner than later, that is why Wood drastic decision to leave Microsoft was quickly process in order to pursue his dreams at combating illiteracy.

It is difficult to put that in the context of spirituality because it is not same as believing. Spirituality has many different meaning to everyone that is why it may be hard to categorize.
