Obedience Training Dog

For a long period in human history, dogs have been the friendliest animals to human beings. Human beings attempt to coach their dogs so that they can behave almost as similar as human beings behave, and in some cases assist them in performance of specific duties. Even though dogs cannot speak like humans, they can listen and understand when given instructions. There are many aspects involved in training dogs, but the three that are the most important are: (1) Positioning; (2) Obedience; and (3) Rewards. First, positioning is telling the dog to do something at a certain position. Second, obedience is telling the dog a specific command or task to complete. Third, rewards also known as treats are given to a dog when he or she successfully accomplishes …show more content…
The point of dog obedience is so that the dog will “understand” a verbal command and performs some type of action or exercise in response to the specific cue it is given. An article titled Obedience Training Your Dog points out that, “Many people think that obedience training is something that is done to a dog to make it perform some artificial activity on command. But if we turn the words around, we'll be closer to a real definition: Obedience training is to train dogs to be obedient, to obey anything and everything they're told to do and the commands always need to follow the same pattern.” Very much like people, dogs tend to learn in sets of three. So when teaching a dog any command, the dog will learn better when the command is repeated in multiples of three. When I personally began to train my dog to sit, it just would not happen because I kept yelling at my dog to “sit” or “stand” and I was also unaware of this technique of saying the command in multiples of three. Dogs genuinely want to do the right thing and please there owners, but we need to give them the tools to do so. I asked my trainer Natalie Rimmons, who is a professional dog trainer at Pet Smart, why my dog was not listening to me and she told me that he is disobeying me because he is being difficult or stubborn. The only way to fix this problem was by having an incentive or reward for the …show more content…
Once your dog is trained you can enjoy and participate in many activities. It builds a mutual bond and a partnership for life. Edward Hoagland once said, “In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi-human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog so the environment will appreciate it” (Hoagland). Here we can see that Edward Hoagland explains that one benefit of dog training is that your dog will be welcomed in far more places, environments, and situations if they have been taught some basic manners. When you have guests over to your home, you won’t need to banish your well-behaved dog to another room, or crate, for fear that they will embarrass you. Amber Aben a professional dog trainer and coach, states, “The more time you spend with your dog, and more bonded you are with your dog, the better understanding you have of what their needs are, and what they are trying to communicate with you”(Aben). The initial bond with your dog is a tentative one; you don’t know each other very well yet. To strengthen that bond, you must spend time with them and do things together. Positioning, Obedience, and Rewards are three easy aspects of training that can easily make your dog become your best friend in no

...That day taught me a valuable lesson; even though my dog did achieve an obedience title he showed me there are greater things in life than getting that .Training your dog for the obedience ring is a lot of hard work. We trained for months working twice a day seven days a week. While we enjoyed training I wanted to earn that obedience title so bad I it was all I could think of for months. Uconn knew all the exercises he needed to perform inside and out, backwards and forwards. I went to the ring area with Uconn early in the morning. I wanted both of us to get accustom to the sights and sounds of where the obedience ring was set up. I had a book with me to try to so some reading to relax before we went in the ring. It was a warm August day. The building we were in was a pole building at the fairgrounds. It was damp and cool in the building and I wondered if the cool air was making me feel not so great. The obedience ring was set up with white gating all around it. It was a perfect square. The matting being used was rubber and a dark green color. We found a place in the last row. The area was crowded with spectators, other exhibitors and dogs. The judge was a woman. I had seen and shown other dogs under her in the past. She was very pleasant and smiled and welcomed us in her ring. For one thing the dog is very unpredictable. It takes a lot of hard work and patience to get your dog trained. I was at an obedience trial with Uconn. There was a little boy in a wheelchair...

Earn 5$ Per Day with Adsense - - Guaranteed!!!

...So how did I take a site from 0-450 visitors per day (on the weekend mind you, much slower) and earning over $5 per day in adsense alone AND on the first page of msn for its main keywords in less then 3 weeks. Unfortunately I won t be showing this site as I did in the last post. Due to many reasons. Only a few now about it, and heck you could probably find it anyhow. (I know the investigative powers of the warrior forum) The first step that I take when looking at building a new site is the keyword research, and topic research. There are many ways you can go about doing this. My fav way at the moment is by using The Dowser tool, also I use wordtracker and even a free tool. http://www.123promotion.co.uk/ppc/index.php Once there, start running your list ideas through the keyword tool and look for something which has a decent traffic count in overture. (I choose overture as an example because it is widely recognized). I usually target niches with 80,000 upward searches per month for the main keyword. This way you are bound to be able to drive some good traffic to your site. The recent site I picked had 1,000,000 searches per month. Then I would plug in some of the top sites into SeoElite and find out how much seo the main sites are doing and how hard or easy it is going to be to beat them. Next thing I do is research affiliate products and adsense ads available for that keyword. The adsense ads you can do either in The Dowser tool. Or you can go to http://www...

Types of Working Dogs

...Types of Working Dogs A Working Dog is a dog that performs tasks to assist its human companions. A few types of working dogs are Police Dogs, Guide Dogs, and Farm Dogs. There are certain breeds used for each of these jobs. These dogs all go through special training before they can work and will be retired before they can no longer do their jobs well. Police Dogs have an amazing sense of smell it is almost fifty times more sensitive than a humans. A dog can sniff out criminals, drugs, weapons, and bombs. The growl of a German Shepard can cause many criminals to surrender instead of running. Dogs are faster and stronger than most humans, able to catch a fleeing criminal. The dogs go through extensive training with their “partners” before they enter the "K-9" (canine) unit. Police Dogs first become experts at basic obedience training. This keeps the aggression of the dog in check, and allows the officer to control how much force the dog is using against a suspect. A Police Dog must be comfortable in public places and used to distractions like traffic. Next a Police Dog does endurance and agility training. The dog must be able to jump over walls and climb stairs. Each dog is acclimated to city life, because a dog that's nervous around people won't make a good Police Dog. Police Dogs live with their partners and are together twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. A Police Dogs career usually lasts about six years. The breed that is mostly used for a Police Dog is the German...

Pitbulls

...The Perfect Owner for the Popular Pit Bull I can still recall the graphic story my mother told me of how our family dog, a Jack Russell Terrier named Jack, was mauled and nearly killed by an American Pit Bull Terrier, or APBT. Its teeth pierced through Jack’s fragile neck missing the aorta by centimeters. After hearing that story, many people would say that pit bulls are ferocious and viscous. However, those same people do not know that the APBT’s owners were drug dealers and animal abusers, using their dog to fight for an underground drug ring. I strongly believe that if an owner trains his or her pit bull appropriately and effectively, it will not become the epitome of the public’s perception on the breed. There are a multitude of effective ingredients to training a pit bull. These include living in a proper environment with ample amounts of exercise, utilizing obedience techniques, and conducting appropriate socialization. Contrary to popular norms, one must not consider if a pit bull is the right dog for him or her, rather, the future owner must consider if he or she is the right owner for a pit bull. Environment is a key factor in deciding if a person is the perfect owner. Pit bulls need their space; therefore, if a potential owner lives in a small apartment, he or she might reconsider getting a pit bull. As a result of living in a small place, pit bulls will often feel overwhelmed and stressed. They will begin to destroy personal property, either by chewing on items...

Welsh Corgi Dog

...from Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America Legend has it that the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is an "enchanted" dog, and certainly this must be true! 'Tis said he was used by the fairies and elves of Wales to pull fairy coaches, work fairy cattle, and serve as a steed for the fairy warriors. Even today those people with keen eyes and understanding hearts may see the marks of the "fairy saddle" in the coat over the shoulders. Pembrokes have been used by the Welsh as herding dogs, family companions, and guardians of the farm. They continue today to be workers and companions for their owners. It is believed that their ancestry dates back to at least the tenth century. It is unknown whether they are descended from the Vallhunds (Swedish cattle dogs possibly brought to Pembrokeshire by the Vikings) or from the ancestors of the present-day Schipperkes and Pomeranians that were brought to Wales by Flemish weavers. In the 1920's Corgis were recognized as pure-bred dogs in the United Kingdom. In 1934 the Pembroke and Cardigan Corgis were recognized by the English Kennel Club as separate breeds. American Kennel Club recognition of the two distinct breeds also occurred in that same year. Pembrokes are sensitive and intelligent dogs. They are easily trained as long as training is done with gentle handling and without severe physical correction. They are healthy and long-lived dogs and are excellent companions for either rural or urban families. So You Think You Want A Corgi?? DAILY...

Pet Adoption

...and never opt to go a pet-dog. Many have associated their preference to the easiness in training the pet as well as the difficulties experienced when outsourcing for the same. Personally I feel that a dog would make an excellent pet on my side. In fact, dogs are indeed the best pets one would wish to have as they provide the desired companionship and support to the owner. Adopting a dog is in itself fulfilling since I will deliberately take care of the pet while providing the necessary care and amenities. Majority of dogs up for adoption are pure breeds, thus possess excellent agility and obedience levels (Banks, 2006). Dogs are beneficial pets especially because of the endless options which a dog can undertake. There are competitions available for the pet dogs for instance they can be useful for therapy purposes or even security services. Such competition avenues are not available to other pets like cats and lizards. As long as the dogs are spayed and neutered on regular basis, most illnesses which affect them will be put at-bay. Thus expensive medications due to illnesses like hip dysplasia, cancer or chronic seizures will not be undertaken translating to a lot of savings. Other dogs are already trained on commands and obedience thus bonding becomes easy. This is not the case with other pets like bird or even lizard where the adopter has to engage in serious training prior to familiarizing with the pets behavior. More often than not, you adopt a dog is probably mature therefore...

Pit Bull Terriers

...Pit Bull Terriers Bad Dogs or Bad People Pit bull terriers have the reputation of being the most aggressive, and dangerous dogs in the world. Various forms of media displaying injuries to people and animals caused by these canines are common. Sadly, because some of these dogs are aggressive and dangerous, they have all acquired a bad reputation. Those who know them may attribute a Pit bulls aggression to rearing or abuse but because of their reputation, most people think, as I did, that it is just because they are Pit bulls. However, stereotyping a breed is wrong and unfair, but, with all the negative publicity about them, it is an easy trap to fall in. Because of my children's interest, I needed to find out more about them, so I went to the internet, the humane society, and to homes of some of these dogs. There is a lot of negative information, but also many positive and surprising facts. With research and time, I now know them to be loving, loyal, and not aggressive when raised correctly. In the world of canines, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Center for Disease Control, the Humane Society of the United States and the University of Pennsylvania, develop a list from a collaboration of studies that they publish periodically of dog breeds that are considered the most aggressive by nature, in the world. In the past, the study was only for dogs over a certain expected adult weight due to the ability of the dogs to inflict damage because of...
