For your individual written work this week, consider what you have learned about how OD and planned change are different from other forms of organization change and imagine you are presenting a paper on OD to a group of MBA students. * Compare OD and planned change to other forms of organization change, illustrating the differences. * There are many definitions that have been given to describe the process none of which are likely to be understood in the context of this paper. Instead it is preferred to give the attributes that constitute the various definitions so that the entire concept is deconstructed and understood in context. But OD may simply be described as a methodology or technique used to effect change in an organization or section of an organization with a view of improving the organization’s effectiveness. It has the following attributes: * A planned process of change. * Applies behavioral science knowledge. * Aims at the change of organization culture. * Aims at reinforcement of organization strategies, structures and processes for improving organization’s effectiveness and health. * Applies to an entire system of an organization, department or group as opposed to an aspect of a system. * Targets long term institutionalization of new activities such as operation of self-managed or autonomous work teams and other problem solving capabilities.

* Encompasses strategy, structure and process changes. * A process managed from the top.
Behavioral science knowledge and practices incorporate concepts such as leadership, group dynamics, work design and approaches such as strategy, organization design and international relations (Cummings and Worly, 1997). OD is not a business planning or technological innovation model but rather an easy and flexible process...

...this day fireworks light the sky. To know the day of the week Independence Day will fall on, we check a 365 day calendar. On Independence Day Americans put up flyers advertising firework shows using a combination of paper and printing. In order to arrive at the firework show a person may use a compass to help find the way. At the firework show a person may observeb a card game using playing cards. There may be food at the show for sale that may upset a person’s stomach and they may have to use the rest room. Using the restroom includes using toilet paper. While the firework show is very entertaining and festive, some Americans have their own traditions. Some may shoot at the sky with a gun using gunpowder. All these different things that can happen on any given Fourth of July in the United States are made possible by the Chinese. The Chinese innovative and creative inventions make the festive of any given Fourth of July possible. The inventions include Paper,Printing,Gunpowder, and theCompass, theCalendar year 365, Fireworks, Playing cards and Toilet paper. Ancient Chinese Contributions They have contributed to our world civilization’s achievements in the fields of agriculture, shipping, astronomy, printing, oil, martial arts, ammunition, and mathematics. Ancient Chinese inventions such as gunpowder, silk, paper, printing, tea, wheel barrow, iron plows, deep drilling, porcelain, toilet paper and the compass were and still are important pieces of Chinese and global life. These inventions were major blocks in the building of the world that we know today. The four main innovations that I consider essential in our lives are printing, gunpowder, compass, and paper. The method of printing and woodblock, or movable, printing are considered ancient Chinese inventions. This ancient Chinese invention was seen before the first dated book in 868 (Lad). Printing books was time-consuming, as the blackline method used required a new block to be carved for each page. Movable type in printing was invented during the Song Dynasty. Movable Chinese characters were carved from wood, which could be arranged as needed and even reused. Later versions used clay, but these broke easily. During the Ming Dynasty, the wooden movable type was refined and books were printed using the two-color printing process. After the development of paper, printing was one of the most important inventions as it led to expansion in spreading stories, news, and knowledge. Another innovation that changed the world was gunpowder. Gunpowder is believed to be development as a......

One of the oldest civilizations in history, China is for these reasons revered for its many achievements throughout history. Following Rome’s fall during the beginning of the Common Era, China emerged as the strongest nation in the world (Sayre, 2012, pg 226). China’s many dynasties each brought technological, cultural, and intellectual advances. Included among these are gunpowder, the compass, printing, paper, tea, acupuncture, spaghetti, the utilization of animals for agriculture, the abacus, and paper money (Ray, 2004). Prosperous and peaceful dynasties such as the Han Dynasty encouraged spans of intellectual and cultural advancement that lead to the creation of many of these inventions (Sayre, 2012, pg 215). ...Paper Summary: In this article, the writer notes that the overall success of an organization is a product of a variety of sources. The writer points out that according to Eric Krell, a writer for the Society for Human Resource Development, one of the greatest of these influences is the perception of senior management by all levels of employees and the subsequent level of trust between them. This paper discusses the correlations between organizational productivity and employee perception of senior management based on Mr. Krell's article. Secondly, the more trust that employees have in senior management the higher their production and loyalty towards the organization. Thirdly, valuing employee input and empowering all levels of employees shows a great positive outcome for senior managers. Krell's article findings were based on a 2005 Watson Wyatt Wordwide Study." "Based on that very study, it was reported that organizations that report a high level of trust between employees and top-level management exhibit two times the financial......

Foundations of Psychology

...Foundations of Psychology Paper Christine Rees-Sosa PSY/300 January 9, 2012 Angeligue Grady Foundations of Psychology Paper Through my readings of our text and my internet research I have found seven schools of psychology. They are Structuralism, Functionalism, Behaviorism, Psychoanalysis, Humanistic psychology, Gestalt psychology, and Cognitive psychology. Structuralism and Functionalism are no longer considered schools of thought within psychology and will not be discussed within this paper. Behaviorism According to Cherry (2012) behaviorism is a theory of learning based upon the idea that all behaviors are acquired through conditioning. Basically, behavior is learned by where and how a person lives and grows. If a person is raised in a loving and nurturing environment where they are taught to be polite and violence is wrong; odds are that the person will grow up to behave in such a manner. The person will possess personality characteristics that show love for family members or a spouse, abstain from violence and possibly a productive member of society. If a person is raised in a violent environment where they are exposed to such things such as physical abuse, drug abuse and so on, the person is likely to grow up and possess characteristics of violent tendencies toward loved ones, become drug users or even end up in a state prison due to violent acts. Cognitive Psychology Cognitive psychology “studies mental processes including how people think,......

Fundamentals of Macroeconomics Paper

...Fundamentals of Macroeconomics paper ECO 372 January 20, 2014 Fundamentals of Macroeconomics paper In this assignment we have been asked to dive into the fundamentals of macroeconomics. Macroeconomics looks at the economy and attempts to answers the questions such as economy to growth over time, short-run fluctuations in the economy, and performance issues. In order to understand and answer these questions one must first understand the fundamentals and the components that drive the economy. Throughout this paper we will describe the fundamentals that make our economy; these fundamentals are Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Real GDP, Nominal GDP, Unemployment rate, Inflation rate, and Interest rate. The gross domestic product or GDP, measures countries output of all goods and services that are produced in the country (Amadeo, 2014). The factors of the gross domestic product are personal consumption expenditures plus business investments plus government spending plus exports minus imports (Amadeo, 2014). After one understands the factors of the gross domestic product it is easy to calculate the gross domestic product if one fallows this simple formula C + I +G+ ( X – M ) (Amadeo, 2014). The next component is the Real GDP. The Real GDP is a measurement of the economic output of a country minus inflation. This allows a person to evaluate the economy's production for each quarter more accurately (Amadeo, 2014). By doing this a person can tell if more product is being......
