I started my On-the-Job-Training at EcoWaste Coalition last April 19, 2010. Actually, it was my first time to go there not knowing that after having my orientation about the things that they do in their office, I can already start working. At first, I was really nervous because I don’t have any working experience and also, it’s a new environment for me because I have to deal with people who are a lot older than I am. I was really shy for the first few days of my OJT because I was still observing the people around me and I became very conscious especially on how I act and behave in front of them. But after a few days of being shy and aloof, I was already starting to share my ideas about things and I was already comfortable and confident whenever I’m with them.
During the OJT, I was able to join 6 of their events. The first event was a press conference held at Max’s Restaurant in Quezon City Circle. It was about who among the presidentiables has a great concern to our environment. I this presscon, I was assigned to prepare media kits and to take pictures while the conference was going on. The second event was about having a bill in the senate about our environment. There were discussions made by different speakers and some journalists and lawyers were present during this event. I was seated near the entrance gate to accommodate the guests in terms of letting them sign the attendance sheet, make their name plates, give them media kits, and assist them to their respective seats. The third event was about making bags, notebooks, hats, placemats, bookmarks, etc. out of recycled materials. This event was held in front of a small and poor community to make them realize that they can earn money out of these things. To make this event attractive, EcoWaste Coalition invited the winners of Miss Earth 2010 to model and promote the recycled bags and hats and to encourage the residents to recycle and to dispose their wastes properly. The fourth event was held in Silang, Cavite which was about the hazardous effects of the stinky air that Cleanway Corporation releases. During this event, the people who lives near this corporation, went out of their houses and joined us. All of us wore gas masks, while some carried placards stating to close the corporation due to its unhealthy air. Different speakers were also present and each one of them was given the chance to express

...intolerable pain which tears you apart, like a stone heavy on the heart, but I know now that I really wasn’t. Every morning, every meal times, every evening it hurt so badly I wanted to hurt her too. I so badly need her here, to feel her love, to touch out to her. I remember bedtimes which were for stories and adventures, the touch of her gentle hugs, the smell of her softly shampooed hair, and the sparkle of her soul. She’s now my ghost, an unfelt, unspoken memory of the past. Dad was still shouting to me from the bottom of the stairs as I drifted away from my childhood memories. He was holding a letter and had a face like thunder as he crossly waved the envelope towards my outstretched hand. ‘I think it’s your Mothers writing’. Boom Boom Boom!! Sounded the fastness of my heavy heart as I gingerly took the letter from my dad and uttered not a word as I backtracked without a backwards glance to my haven. A mixture of apprehension, fear and anger crashed over me like a tidal wave crashing against my skull, how dare she contact me yet again and put me through all this pain. Slowly, Slowly I open the letter and gingerly remove it from its personal surroundings. This wasn’t the first letter and certainly wasn’t to be the last letter from my mum who was once more asking for reconciliation, forgiveness on my part and offering explanations on hers. A feeling of emptiness laid heavy as I knew that however many letters, texts I received from my mum there was absolutely nothing I could...

...Christina Wright Interview Paragraphs Cynthia Frazier-Jackson is one of the coolest seniors I know. She is also one of the bluntest people I know. For example, one time when my hair was out of place, she straight up told me that I needed to fix it. She doesn’t beat around the bush and she isn’t fake, she gives it to you like it is. Cynthia is one of those people who always smiles no matter what is going on. Even when she’s mad or upset about something, she doesn’t reminisce on the past. I strive to be like her in many ways. She is like a role-model to me and a lot of other students. That is why Cynthia is one of the coolest seniors I know. Tyleesha has been like a big sister to me. She looks out for me and makes sure I’m okay. Tyleesha said she was friend because she felt like we would get along really well. Well To be honest I’m happy she looks to me as a friend and not just another freshman. I look up to her as a role model because she represents good behavior and how I should act instead of me just acting crazy. She is my friend because we ended up in a class together and she seemed really easy to get along with, so we just became friends. I feel the best piece she has ever given me was to go for guys that care about you for you. I feel that Tyleesha has made my high school experience a whole lot better. How to Sing a Song

...Use rhythm, music and singing to tune IN your students to working WITH you and tune OUT the worries and distractions of other thoughts. 30 seconds of a good backing track can engage a class far more quickly than 30 minutes of our voice and instructions. They tend over time to ‘tune out’ our voices. Music instantly engages. Rhythm, music and singing help build a collaborative ‘group’ identity – the ‘singing tribe’. Call – Response patterns that emphasise rhythm and sound. eg: 1) Warm ups – French Boom Chicka Boom – (see pdf) • Using praise praises for the whole class to chant ‘well done’ to good contributors • Get the children to take over the ‘Call’ function as soon as possible from you. You are modelling skills and empowering them to model to each other as well. Children leading others is a very powerful re-inforcer and motivator. 2) Injecting backing tracks into lessons at key points • allows you ‘pick up’ or ‘calm down’ a lesson depending upon the mood. • allows you to overlay any lyrical content that you want to highlight from your lesson. • You can use songs from Sing Up website but you can also simply use the backing tracks of some key songs Example Let’s Dance backing track from Sing Up website Suggest some lyrics to practise to this track from any work you have done today. Can you see a way in which children could be asked to suggest some simple lyrics that summarise key points of a lesson...

...operator and the boom technician. Without these people a movie would not have good sound as far as dialogue and ambiance. The first job is the mixer. This person has a lot of responsibilities. They connect the mixer to the recorder along with connecting the other equipment to the mixer. They make sure that we have good sound. They do this by putting the mixer audio level at zero and then putting the recorders DB level at negative twelve. By doing this it gives them some head room incase an actor increases the ton of their voice i.e. yells at another actor, we will still have good audio. The mixer is also in charge of doing the time codes. This means they right down the time code or this time on the recorder which the audio is recording and then writes down if that take was good or bad. Next we have the cord operator. This person’s job although you may think it is pretty easy it is a very important part of this department. Industrialization DBQ

...During the Civil War, the government had to finance for supplies such as: uniforms, weapons, and food. The money that went into buying those goods ended up in the pockets of industrialists who manufactured them. The money that they gained allowed industrialization to grow. Industrialization was infinitely bad for the U.S. society between 1865 to 1900 because it contributed to horrible working conditions, corruption, and the boom and bust cycle. Many of the jobs available during industrialization were affecting the wellbeing of the society. It says in document two that workers had disposable occupations that had the same repetitive movement to it. I say that by submitting workers through mind numbing and draining conditions, the workers were losing their humanity. And so industrialization was endangering the lives of the workers. The author’s purpose in writing was to inform the government and companies about what workers experience and is shown by the list of what workers did and suffered. Workers suffered because they were abused and taken advantage by businessmen. It says in document six that men and women were both overworked and treated worse than property. I say that the conditions in which the laborers were forced to work in were a hazard to their lives. And so industrialization negatively affected society because businessman did not care about what happen to their workers as long...

Mba Entrance

...Two weeks after graduating high school, I arrived at Shocco Springs Baptist Conference Center to begin my first “real job” and experience the most pivotal summer of my life. While most of my friends frolicked on beaches enjoying their last summer before college, my ten hour workdays as a “Summer Staffer” consisted of scrubbing floors, cleaning toilets, preparing meals, cleaning dishes, hauling trash, and busing tables. While these duties yielded an education in how to survive a gritty physical environment, the most vital education I received was in how to survive a gritty social environment. My boss was fired for stealing, a direct co-worker was arrested for murder, and another co-worker stalked me. Various fellow staff members allowed these unexpected circumstances to distract them from their daily responsibilities, but I understood that Shocco guests still demanded our services. Rather than retreat from a back-breaking job amidst criminals, I daily maintained a laser-like focus on getting my job done despite feeling intimidated. Overcoming the intimidation brought forth two lessons that changed my life forever: life will always throw you curve balls and you must adapt to them, and secondly, there is no substitute for hard work. These lessons prepared me for the real world and greatly motivated me to obtain a higher education. Upon graduating from the University of Alabama, I had a unique professional and personal opportunity to move to San Diego. Professionally, I became...

The Holaucost

...Thesis: By examining Jack Overduin’s “Faith and Victory in Dachau”, Corrie Ten Boom’s “The Hiding Place”, and Eli Wiesel’s “Night”, it is clear that both documents present differing perspectives on the theme of providence. While both Jack and Corrie realize that both the good and bad times are in God’s hands, Eli doubts God’s existence in the bad times, and believes the desirable times arise from fate or chance. I. Introduction: (maybe use the Heidelberg Catechism Lord’s Day 10 about providence) II. How Providence is viewed when things go well. (During the favourable times, Jack Overduin and Corrie Ten Boom thank God for His blessings and care over them while Eli believes he is just getting lucky.) A. “Faith and Victory in Dachau” 1. Pg. 193 “Again and again, we compared our lives with what they had been only a few weeks before. It was a miracle of His mercy!” 2. Pg. 154 “ In His eternal wisdom God gave each of us the grace that we needed, The one received the grace to continue to live in Dachau’s torment without succumbing spiritually and morally, and the other received the grace to die.” 3. America in the 1920's

...America in the 1920’s The Boom Period During the 1920s there was a prolonged boom in the American economy. Industrial production doubled, the economy grew rapidly and fortunes were made. Life had never seemed better for the majority of the American people. The boom developed for a number of reasons. World War I The European economies were exhausted by the cost of waging a long war. In comparison, the USA grew rich during the war years. Its late arrival to the war, and the fact that its cities and industries were not bombed or destroyed during the conflict, meant that at the end of the war it was able to capitalise on the perilous state of European industry and dominate their markets. New technologies The first 20 years of the twentieth century saw huge technological advances in industry. Factories became automated. Machines and other improved manufacturing techniques meant that huge amounts of goods could be made at a fraction of the cost. The age of mass production had arrived. In the decade of the 1920s economic output increased by a staggering 50%. Consumer boom Because goods could be produced in greater numbers and at much lower prices, more people were able to afford them. This led to huge increases in the sales of products such as cars, refrigerators, radios and cookers. Buying on credit This consumer boom was greatly aided by the availability of hire purchase - the ability to buy goods on credit. Because times were good, people were not worried about...

Gender Constructs and Imperialism

...Valenzuela Blog "I'm Your Horse in the Night" is a story that blurs the lines of reality and our narrator's dream, putting it into the category of magic realism. The story begins with the setting of our narrator's home, when she gets a surprise visit from her lover. After a hot drunken night with Beto, Chiquita is tortured after the police come looking for him. The police then start breaking her belongings and torture her for information about her beloved. The theme of this story uses a stereotypical female who is only wanting love and a man who is only wanting a bed for the night. Both of our main characters are flat, as we know hardly anything about them let alone their real names. This story is fiction however the events seem all too real, especially to a female reader reading from a female's point of view.  Mrs. Dutta Blog Mrs. Dutta is a heartfelt short story about a woman who moves to America to live with her son's family after their strong suggestion. The point of view this story is written in is third person; as an outsider telling the events. Mrs. Dutta, being the main protagonist in the story, is struggling to adapt to her new life in America. The biggest change that Mrs. Dutta is struggling with is being a housewife stereotype. The most interesting thing about Mrs. Dutta is the subplot containing her flashbacks back home and the conversations between herself and Mrs. Basu.  Being such a round character, Mrs. Dutta shows a lot of progression at the end of the story...
