First week in my OJT
May 25 Friday
Our on-the job training in Tempura Japanese Restaurant took-off with a brief orientation with the store manager. First, the trainees were introduced to the whole staff, followed by a tour inside the store premises-from the dining area, then to the bar and finally in the kitchen. During this tour, the manager gave us a few ideas on how it works and we have our first glimpse on how the restaurant operates.
After that activity, he/she gave us our first on-site post: the entrance. We’re instructed to stay there and open the door for the guests. He/She also reminded us that it’s a must to greet the incoming guests with “Yokoso , Ma’am/ Sir” while outgoing customers must hear the words “Doumo arigatou gozaimasu”.
May 26 Saturday
On our second day on Tempura, the staff taught us the standard position for serving. At the end of this activity, we were expected to learn the basic steps on how to serve the guests efficiently, have an adequate proficiency about the menu including the right pronunciation for each dish. A staff also made a demonstration on table-setting. In this task, the demonstrator specifically pointed-out that the table was set in a specific manner that follows a strict standard. After the activity, we were instructed to go back to our first designated post and usher the guests.
May 27 Sunday
After two days of warming-up on our new environment, the trainees were able to catch up on the life in Tempura. Day 3 is an exciting day because the manager allowed us to move more freely and gave us new set of assignments. First, they let us clean the tables. Aside from that, he/she instructed us to memorize the table count. This is important because today some of us were assigned in ushering the guests and serving the menu.
May 28 Monday
On day 4, we’re pretty much familiar on the inner workings of the restaurant. On this…...

... employ a sound OJT program. An analysis of the major job requirements (identified in the position description and performance plan) and related knowledges, skills, and abilities form the basis for setting up an OJT plan. To be most effective, an OJT plan should include: • The subject to be covered; • Number of hours; • Estimated completion date; and • Method by which the training will be evaluated To have a successful OJT program, supervisors need to assign a coach to each employee involved in OJT. It is the responsibility of the coach to plan training carefully and conduct it effectively. http://www.doi.gov/hrm/pmanager/ed6b.html ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF ON-THE-JOB TRAINING Advantages: • Low cost - does not require the development of potentially expensive training materials or classroom/computer-based instruction. • Task-based - Since OJT is performed at the work area, training tends to be focused on performing real job tasks. • Well suited for small groups - OJT is often the most practical training method when you only need to train one or two employees at a time. Disadvantages: • Inconsistent - Traditional OJT relies heavily on an experienced employee to provide the instruction based on what they feel are the most important topics. What is important to one employee may not be important to another. The result is what is learned may vary greatly, depending on who is assigned as the trainer. • Incomplete - Without......

Ojt Experience

...On-the-job training (OJT) is a form of training taking place in a normal working situation. OJT will generally help the students to increase their productivity and skills. It also help the students to become a young professional. It also helps the students to acquire relevant knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting. Last April, i started my ojt at bsp. the required number of hours for us is 300 hrs. i was assigned at the eflc under liss with the supervision of ms catherine platon. eflc is the focal point of contact of the public of information concerning economic and financial matters. Instead of gathering various information from different departments/locations within the BSP, researchers can just visit the EFLC for their information requirements. i have observed their daily activities that they must comply. at the first week of my ojt, i was so nervous because they are professional people. i have to act professional to have a good impression o them. but at time goes by, i find myself working with them harmoniously. the staff are very approachable and nice. they are not really the serious type all the time. sometimes, you can joke and chitchat with them. they always bring food and share it with their co-employess and even to me. as a trainee, i have my tasks to do given by my supervisor. on the 1st day of my ojt, she told me that im going to have a prjoect and it will be passed at the end of my ojt. she told me to do a manual about the FAQs at...

...I started my On-the-Job-Training at EcoWaste Coalition last April 19, 2010. Actually, it was my first time to go there not knowing that after having my orientation about the things that they do in their office, I can already start working. At first, I was really nervous because I don’t have any working experience and also, it’s a new environment for me because I have to deal with people who are a lot older than I am. I was really shy for the first few days of my OJT because I was still observing the people around me and I became very conscious especially on how I act and behave in front of them. But after a few days of being shy and aloof, I was already starting to share my ideas about things and I was already comfortable and confident whenever I’m with them. During the OJT, I was able to join 6 of their events. The first event was a press conference held at Max’s Restaurant in Quezon City Circle. It was about who among the presidentiables has a great concern to our environment. I this presscon, I was assigned to prepare media kits and to take pictures while the conference was going on. The second event was about having a bill in the senate about our environment. There were discussions made by different speakers and some journalists and lawyers were present during this event. I was seated near the entrance gate to accommodate the guests in terms of letting them sign the attendance sheet, make their name plates, give them media kits, and assist them to their respective seats...

...Can you imagine quality restaurant cuisine being served at a fraction of the price? This restaurant located at Barangay San Vicente in Tarlac City does so. No, they’re not on sale, nor are they closing up; that’s just how they price their servings. And they do it every single day of the week.  Welcome to Primadeli Ristorante, one of Tarlac City’s best kept gastronomic secret. This open-aired fine-dining restaurant started serving Tarlaqueños with their Sicilian-inspired cuisines two years ago. The kitchen crew is orchestrated by Chef James, the very hands-on restaurant owner, who whips a fusion of Italian dishes mixed with Western and Asian flavors. There is a degree of intimidation when ordinary people like me hear the word fine dining. It often connotes business suits and multi-set dinner courses with different cubiertos for each; complicated eating rituals and decorum only understood by the rich.  But all of this cannot be more untrue with Primadeli Ristorante. Here, the atmosphere is so relaxed you can even eat with just your slippers, shorts and shirts. A fine dining experience made for every Juan as they say.  But enough talk, let’s get down to business and check out their offerings. - See more at: http://www.lakadpilipinas.com/2014/04/primadeli-ristorante-tarlac-review.html#sthash.qwODEmLW.dpuf can do away with the pastas and the spring rolls; but my favorites include the shiitake soup, the caesar salad and the beef nacho grande. ...INTRODUCTION a.) Max’s Restaurant, 4th floor, Robinsons Galleria Branch, Located at Ortigas Ave. Corner Edsa, Quezon City. b.) History Max's Restaurant is a Filipino restaurant chain serving fried chicken and Philippine cuisine since 1945. Founded by Maximo Gimenez with the help of his niece Ruby after WWII, it is a family-style casual dining restaurant that has expanded to 120 branches in the Philippines, eight branches in the United States, and one in Canada. Its signature dish is its fried chicken—Max's dubs itself "the house that fried chicken built".It's often served with rice and/or kamote (sweet-potato) fries. Other items on Max's menu are Filipino dishes like Max’s Fried chicken, pancit, kare-kare, Lumpia, and crispy pata among others.Although described as "sarap to the bones!", for a signature dish Max's fried chicken is surprisingly plain; aside from possibly a little salt rubbed in, there seems little else done to the chicken before it is deep-fried to a golden brown. Yet it is a testament to the natural flavor of chicken that from such simplicity Max's has enjoyed such longevity. While Max's unadorned fried chicken can be a disappointment at first it does get things right by placing the focus on the chicken. One learns to respect the dish when many years later one still finds it palatable while other seemingly more impressive chicken dishes haven't endured and have faded from memory. In a sense basic goodness and soundness can be used to...

...JOURNAL of the OJT I had a great experience throughout the period of the training. My co-trainees, the whole staff of the restaurant and I shared many precious moments that made my whole training not only insightful but memorable as well. We had hard times, with my classmates Jenny, Joy and I, searching and submitting our resumes to the restaurants in Glorietta 3, finally the restaurant DADS Ultimate Buffet includes Kamayan and Saisaki accepted as to be their trainee. We were so happy that time for at last our hard time was over. The assistant supervisor, Mr. Nel Santos interviewed us and at the same time state the requirements we had to pass but my classmate joy couldn’t be able to come with us for some reason. After complying the requirements, Jenny and I had already started our training after we were briefed about the whole operations of the restaurant. My first day was draining, horrifying and ugly. It was not what I was expecting and it was not what I used to do. I hate the people, I hate what I was doing and I was like I was really, really looking forward to my 400th hour of my training. My first day passed by. When I arrived at my aunt’s house I couldn’t even step my feet any longer and the feeling was not very well. In the next day, I woke up at 9:30 in the morning and that time I was thinking if I can survive doing these things for almost 2 months. My second day became more horrible than my first because my co-trainees as well as the other staffs were a...
