There are certain companies that through the use of exceptional marketing programs and well as aggressive business strategies have become recognized the world around. Many of these are part of our everyday life and if not then we see them every day in our comings and goings. Two of these world-wide brands that many of us know are also extremely similar in both product as well as marketing strategy. Those two brands are The Coca-Cola Company and PepsiCo, Inc. On May 8, 1886, a pharmacist named Dr. John Pemberton carried a jug of Coca-Cola syrup to Jacobs’ Pharmacy in downtown Atlanta, where it was mixed with carbonated water and sold for five cents a glass. (Our Heritage, 2012) Three years later in the summer of 1898 a young pharmacist named Caleb Bradham began experimenting with combinations of spices, juices and syrups, trying to create a refreshing new drink to serve to his customers. His success came in the form of the beverage now known around the world as Pepsi-Cola. (Pepsi Legacy, 2005) And from that day forward the rivalry between Coca-Cola and Pepsi would become legendary. These two beverage companies are competing for the top spot in a massive global market. The cola and carbonated beverage industry reaches to nearly every corner of the planet, and the vast majority of the market share belongs to the two giants Coke and Pepsi. With such a huge market and enormous revenue potential in an industry such as this, it is no wonder that the Coke versus Pepsi competition is so fierce. So how does either of these companies create an advantage over the other? We will compare and contrast the business and marketing strategies of these businesses in...

Social Media Marketing

...Social Media Marketing BUS508: Contemporary Business November 30, 2013 What is Social Media Marketing? Why has Social Media Marketing become so popular? Is it now the most effective way to advertise and market? I have chosen to first define both marketing and social media. In my analysis it will allow you to fully grasp the importance and meaning of marketing and social media. My analysis will also allow you to easily determine why Social Media Marketing has become so popular among businesses. I’m a big believer in social media so I will display that throughout my paper. With technology in this day and age people always have the Internet in the palms of their hand and social media is always a button away. What is marketing? Marketing is the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large (Boone & Kurtz, 2012). Without proper marketing strategies businesses would not be able to sell their goods and services. The most effective rule to consumers is to ensure that they always get what they want and always meet their needs before they ever surface. Marketing has always been part of business, from the earliest village traders to large 21st-century organizations producing and selling complex goods and services (Boone & Kurtz, 2012). How people market has now evolved and is now more on social media than ever. Social media is one of......

My Life

...Dear Friend,                                            I just had to write to tell you how much I love you and care for you.    Yesterday, I saw you walking and laughing with your friends; I hoped that soon you'd want Me to walk along with you, too. So, I painted you a sunset to close your day and whispered a cool breeze to refresh you. I waited; you never called.  I just kept on loving you.                                            As I watched you fall asleep last night, I wanted so much to touch you. I spilled moonlight onto your face trickling down your cheeks as so many tears have. You didn't even think of me; I wanted so much to comfort you.                                            The next day I exploded a brilliant sunrise into a glorious morning for you.  But you woke up late and rushed off to work-you didn't evennotice.                                        My sky became cloudy and Mytears were the rain.  I love you!  Oh, if you'd only listen. I really love you! I try to say it in the quiet of the green meadow and in the blue sky. The wind whispers My love throughout the treetops and spills it into the vibrant colors of the flowers.   I shout it to you in the thunder of the great waterfalls and composed love songs for birds to sing for you. I warm you with the clothing of My sunshine and perfume the air with nature's sweet scent.  My love for you is deeper than the ocean and greaterthan any need in  your heart. If you'd only realize how I...

...Pemberton in 1886. He created flavored syrup in which he took to his neighborhood pharmacy, where it was mixed with carbonated water and deemed “excellent” by those who sampled it (The Coca-Cola Company 2015). The distinctive tasting soft drink that was originally created was made for soda fountains. Dr. Pemberton’s partner and bookkeeper, Frank M. Robinson, is credited with naming the beverage “CocaCola” as well as designing the trademarked, distinct script, still used today (The Coca-Cola Company 2015). Coca-Cola’s roadmap starts with their mission, which declares their purpose as a company and serves as the standard against which they weigh out their actions and decisions. Mission and Vision of Companies

...Introduction: Vision and mission statements play an important role in strategy development by providing vehicles to generate and screen strategic options. They also provide organizational identity and understanding of business directions. A vision is an attempt to articulate what a desired future for a company would look like. It gives the company direction and it's the basic premise for the success of the mission statement. It stretches the imagination and motivates people to rethink what is possible. A mission statement is a brief explanation of the organization's purpose. It tells who we are and what we are. Mission statements should articulate the principles that will guide the business and its employees to grow, advance, and prosper. Definition of Mission and Vision statement: A mission statement, or simply a mission, is a public declaration that schools or other educational organizations use to describe their founding purpose and major organizational commitments—i.e., what they do and why they do it. A mission statement may describe a school’s day-to-day operational objectives, its instructional values, or its public commitments to its students and community. Figure 1.1: Image of Mission and Vision A vision statement, or simply a vision, is a public declaration that schools or other educational organizations use to describe their high-level goals for the future—what they hope to achieve if they successfully fulfill their organizational purpose or mission. The Necklace

...The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant (1850-1893) Translators: Albert M.C. McMaster, A.E. Henderson, Mme. Quesada, & others. The girl was one of those pretty and charming young creatures who sometimes are born, as if by a slip of fate, into a family of clerks. She had no dowry, no expectations, no way of being known, understood, loved, married by any rich and distinguished man; so she let herself be married to a little clerk of the Ministry of Public Instruction. She dressed plainly because she could not dress well, but she was unhappy as if she had really fallen from a higher station; since with women there is neither caste nor rank, for beauty, grace and charm take the place of family and birth. Natural ingenuity, instinct for what is elegant, a supple mind are their sole hierarchy, and often make of women of the people the equals of the very greatest ladies. Mathilde suffered ceaselessly, feeling herself born to enjoy all delicacies and all luxuries. She was distressed at the poverty of her dwelling, at the bareness of the walls, at the shabby chairs, the ugliness of the curtains. All those things, of which another woman of her rank would never even have been conscious, tortured her and made her angry. The sight of the little Breton peasant who did her humble housework aroused in her despairing regrets and bewildering dreams. She thought of silent antechambers hung with Oriental tapestry, illumined by tall bronze candelabra, and of two great footmen in knee......
