The operational dashboard at Optum includes graphic representations of the data measured related to the state and federal regulatory requirements, and value drivers, for each area of the company in a concentrated form (Optum, n.d.). The data obtained from around the organization is compiled on one large screen allowing the company’s senior leaders an opportunity to visualize the big picture of how the organization is meeting its regulatory and targeted objectives. The information developed in coordination with the senior leaders is shared with the department heads and managers and is broken up into department and section related scorecards which are then shared with the individual workgroups at the discretion of the leadership staff. As a member of the Claim Review and Resolution (CRR) clinical team at Optum, our objectives are primarily found within the financial area of the organization and focused on payment integrity. The key performance indicators used for the pre and post claim payment service area of Optum are developed by the managers using pieces of the information housed on the operational dashboard along with the customer feedback data received from the Net Promoter Scores and Vital Sign Surveys.
