Question # 1

Why does Conestoga-Rovers and associates and other companies try to create a positive work environment?

Answer – Conestoga-rovers and other companies try to create a positive work environment because it is very important not only for the employees but for the whole company. A positive work environment facilitates a feeling of cooperation, teamwork and joy among the staff. The working environment affects our sense of well-being, health and motivation to go in to work. It is both an employer’s responsibility, and in his/her interest, to ensure that employees work in a positive atmosphere because conditions at work can either maximize or minimize productivity and cause or prevent stress and fatigue, it also helps to recruit top talent because everyone wants to work at a good place where he/she can enjoy working and gets an opportunity to grow both professionally and socially. On the other hand if the working conditions are negative at the workplace it will not only affect the employees mentally and physically but it will also affect the company profits very badly and no employer would like to get into that kind of situation. A positive work environment is also very necessary to build trust amongst the employees and the employer. It encourages the employees to perform at their best. A positive work environment creates team spirit and it minimises the risk of stress which may cause job burnout. When there is a flow of positive energy at the workplace, the employees remain cheerful and work happily with each other and the company prospers.

Question # 2

How does this company manage to provide events and perks that employees value?

Organisational Behaviour Assignment

...Answer to Question 1: According to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 181 of 1993), every employer is to provide and maintain, as far as is reasonably practicable, a working environment that is safe and without risk to the health of the employees. This means that an employer has a statutory duty toward its employees to ensure that each employee is afforded the necessary protection against harm while at the workplace. Therefore, when considering how liable companies should be for violent acts committed by their own employees, one must look at how thorough the employer was in implementing measures discouraging or preventing such conduct by their employees. Negligent hiring demonstrates an instance when an employer fails to action the above duty to protect workers from individuals who have previously demonstrated a propensity to behave violently. Negligent hiring refers to an employer’s negligence to do a thorough background check before employing an individual. Thus when said individual commits violent acts at the workplace, one can argue that the employer can be taken criminally to task by those who are suffer or are harmed by these acts whilst at work. (http://workinfo.com/free/Downloads/95.htm) Answer to Question 2 Companies cannot completely eradicate workplace violence, as it is an extension of violence that already exists in the different social environments of their employees, of which they have no control over. In the time period between April 2013 to March...

Extremism is a term which means a person or group has a different view than the norm. These people have a different opinion then the average person. Some of the terrorists groups of the area are thought to have use the internet to recruit people. This is causing great concern with the politicians. Anything can be posted on the internet. There is no control. The politicians want the people to express their thoughts re terrorists using the internet to recruit. I believe people should be appalled that everyday people can be influenced by them. I believe people should want to bring some kind of controls to the postings people are allowed to use. I believe people should come together on the internet and discuss their thoughts re this outrageous behavior. This should be controlled. The more people protest and discuss their outrage for this behavior the more people will start to notice. If people do not say anything this could continue. Do you want your child to...

Mgt 5000 - Example Assignment 1

...GT500 Note to Student enrolled in MGT5000: S3 2011 Please note that this is just an example of an assignment based on the assessment in a previous semester. The task is therefore quite different to your assignment this semester. For example, this semester you have been asked to analyse a case study provided to you. Last semester students had to write their own scenario and analyse specific OB issues. The word count for each section also differs from the requirements this semester. However, the assignment will give you a good idea of the following: what critical analysis looks like, how to present your recommendations in table format and how your list of references should be presented (the Harvard Referencing system available on the USQ library site). Good luck! MGT5000 Management and Organisational Behaviour: Example of Assignment 1 [1] Task 1: Scenario (479 words) I am reflecting on a time in my working life where I offered advice and business solutions to a mid-sized legal firm regarding problems relating to people management strategies. My role was to provide the Partners with a proposal of solutions to help with improvement strategies for the business overall. This was a medium size thirty year established firm consisting...
