A leader in hobbies and crafts, Hobby Lobby has flourished since their opening in August 1972. Starting in their home, David and Barbara Green, started making picture frames from their garage and they say “thanks to the Lord”, their store has grown and thrived to over 600 stores across the United States (Hobby Lobby, 2015). Each store, averages 55,000 square feet and offers more than 70,000 products. Products range from arts, crafts, home décor, Holiday, seasonal, and they offer classes. Some of the classes that are offered are art such as painting and sculpting and cake such as how to use fondant and decorating. The Christian hobby store is dedicated to customers that like to create projects and get their hands a little dirty, but they also complement those that are looking for that finishing touch of décor in their home or office. Hobby Lobby offers a little for everyone. The company also is a strong supporter of their local communities. They donate to numerous charities such as Every Home for Christ, One Hope, and Museum of the Bible. Churches, schools, and national charitable organizations also receive a ten percent discount. Hobby Lobby not only is a large craft/décor store, but they are giving back to their community. Hobby Lobby’s value their community and God and have used this to create their mission and to build their distinguished company. Hobby Lobby mission statement is based around biblical principles and they have listed a set of commitments to their shareholders that states as followed:

Human resources plays a major role to insure that Hobby Lobby’s missions are executed and remain valued. There is also a unique dimension from many other current companies that HR must address as well – tying in their Biblical principles as not to offend employees or customers.

There is Functional Structure, which has each portion of the organization grouped according to purpose.
