Organizational Behavior and Communication in the U.S. Army Communication and behavior within the military is very crucial to the troops in times of active duty service. The United States Armed Forces is comprised of the following: U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marines, and the U.S. Coast Guard. Each one encompasses their own mission statement, which defines the particular company or troop in which they perform the tasks at hand (Army.com 2010). In the United States Army, communication is the key to a successful tour for the ones that have been called to duty. The Army has very diverse individuals and some that have become U.S. Citizens, made the ultimate sacrifice to serve for their new country. There can be times that the communication chain has failed in one aspect or another due to one person not performing their assigned tasks. This paper will reflect the communication process and how the troop’s behavior can have a good or bad affect to others, whether it is with fellow colleagues, family or friends. The culture of the Army is diverse with many various races, gender, religious background, whether one is on active duty or in the reserves. This could include members of the civilian area that are serving overseas station at the Camp’s as well. With this type of culture in the Army, the espoused values would be what are being taught to the troops on a daily basis. This is a very structured environment with no room for error. These values must be obeyed or it could result in harmful results. For example, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, who was stationed at the Ft. Hood Base in Killeen, TX, had the espoused belief that America's wars in Iraq...
