P1 – Explain the need for and the role of discipline in the uniformed public services
Discipline is setting rules for people to follow, this is usually in the workplace or in an organisation. Once these rules are broken, then discipline would be carried out. This is punishing someone in the consequences of their actions.
Examples of discipline would be during an induction to a job in the Police. The new employee will be verbally informed or handed information in the form of a guide. This is to outline their job and what is expected of them as a responsible employee, as well as the consequences they would face following breaking the disciplinary guidelines which they are set.

They are usually accompanied by a paramedic who is more qualified to give patients drugs and a greater amount of medical attention at the source.

Clinical Team Leaders are responsible for ensuring that there is enough human resources to cover every ones shift, and they may accompany any of the emergency paramedics to the scene of an accident.

These are the highest medical qualified of the ambulance team. Most of the time they work alone, respond to emergency accidents – this includes the most serious accidents.

Customer Relations Managers ensure there are enough resources (medical and human) throughout the division. They make sure that the appropriate resources are directed efficiently, this is whilst the locality manager is in charge of the Division or District. In the event of a major accident, locality managers would take charge or oversee the work of ambulance staff at operational (or bronze) command.
