Scenario: Tina is a young parents who have moved into a new area with two young children following the separation from her partner who have been drinking and abusive. Tina is worried about the behaviour of the children and concerned about them being looked after. Carry out a research to find out the support available in the local area and decide to organise the information into a resource pack.
There are many different types of care provided for looked after children and young people, ensuring that young children are provided with the right quality care.

Contact the school
There is many ways to get help, if Tina is concerned about their behaviour then she can always contact the school and enquiry about their behaviour and the progress of the education. There has to be a planned meeting that needs to take place in order to give the children additional help if they’re struggling. The school can give mentor support in order for the children to have someone to communicate with.

GP
Tina can go to the GP and ask for some kind of therapy for her children, even family therapy in order to solve the problem with the children’s father. They can have a family therapy where the children having supervised contact with their father.

Social workers
Social workers can be involved as they can support the family if situations with the partner gets any worse. Trained and qualified social workers can support families with children who face problems and difficulties in different areas. The social workers often work in teams to provide support framework. If Tina doesn’t want the partner to know, then the place she’s staying can be kept confidential. The social services could also help Tina to apply for all the benefits such as housing and children tax credit.

...10B – Care provided for looked after children and young people P2: Outline the arrangements for providing quality care for looked after children and young people There are various types of quality care provided for looked after children and young people such as; foster care, residential care, adoption, respite care and temporary/ permanent care, of which can occur due to a care order being put into place. Planning for care in partnership with the child/ young person, parents and other agencies: It is in the child's best interests that any and all care provisions are established and organised whenever possible in a mutually accepted way. In some instances, the parents or family of the child have asked for support and help to be provided, possibly on a short term basis. The chances of the outcome being successful can be increased when all participating parties can come to an agreement on the partnership arrangements for the mutual care and support of the child. Type of Care/ Provision | Characteristics | Foster Care | Foster care is supervised care, which is when a child is looked after by other people who are not members of their own family.
