Task 1 * P4 Explain how both fiscal and monetary policy decisions have affected a selected businessYou must examine fiscal and monetary policies in relation to a chosen business. This will involve explaining the possible impact of changes in the tax regime, as well as interest rate changes your chosen business’s operations. When discussing Fiscal policy you must be specific about the tax or spending and how it has an effect on the business.Does it make them alter how the business operates and explain why? Which areas within the business does it affect?Key distinctions to remember For Fiscal are:- direct and indirect taxation, tax free allowances, the annual budget statement, redistribution of income. When identifying Monetary issues you must identify the source of the changes you describe. Who initiated it? What is the mechanism by which it is implemented? What is the impact on the business? Is it direct or indirect?Key issues relating to Monetary are:- interest rate changes, inflation, employment levels, investment decisions, aggregate demand. Inclusion of evidence beyond the content of these sections is welcome but it must be relevant. The range of possibilities is extensive and will vary over time so care will be needed in identifying what is relevant at any one time. N.B. You must confirm with your tutor that the organisation you have selected is appropriate for this purposeThis covers the one Pass criteria in this assignment | Task 2 * M2 (Following on from P4) Analyse the effects of fiscal and monetary policies for a selected business in terms of the market it operates in You are required to analyse the effects of fiscal and monetary policy decisions have on business. The most effective way to do this is to make use of actual examples of a change. Analyse how the business adapted and whether the outcome was positive or negative. This asks for the analysis to be ‘in terms of the market it operates in’. Who, or what, are in the market besides the business? How does the change affect them? What happens in terms of competitive advantage? If you use hypothetical situations avoid stating extreme outcomes such as the business being liquidated without the detail of time span involved and the interim effects that would be experiencedYou may wish to consider changes that illustrate the impact of fiscal and monetary policy at both a national and local level. This covers the one Merit criteria in this assignment | Task 3 * D2 (Following on from P4 and M2) Suggest and justify elements of fiscal and monetary policies that would help a selected business achieve its objectives You are now asked to suggest and justify elements of fiscal and monetary policies that government could use that would help a selected organisation achieve its objectives. You must therefore state what the main objectives are and link their achievement to Fiscal and Monetary issues. Whilst this may be theoretical exercise in part, your evaluation must be based on the real world and suggestions must be something that could actually occur and on a realistic scale. The evaluation of the effect on the objectives should define the level of impact and include quantified outcomes where possible. This covers the one Distinction criteria in this assignment |

...The UK government sets monetary policy by adjusting the funds rate. This affects other short-term and long-term rates, including credit-card rates and mortgages. Governments define fiscal policy by setting taxation levels and writing legislation and regulation for everything from health care to the environment. Fiscal and monetary policy changes can affect businesses directly and indirectly, although competitive factors and management execution are also important factors. Businesses Go through cycles of expansion, recession and recovery. Monetary and fiscal policies can affect the timing and length of these cycles. In the expansion phase, the economy grows, businesses add jobs and consumer spending increases. At some point, known as the peak, the economy overheats and the government increases interest rates to stave off inflation. Factories shut down, job losses rise and business sales fall. Rate cuts and government spending, or both, are often necessary to recharge the economy. Eventually, the economy hits rock bottom, known as the trough, and gradually starts to recover. Fiscal Policy Fiscal policy usually involves changes in taxation and spending policies. Lower taxes mean more disposable income for consumers and more cash for Balfour Beatty to invest in jobs and equipment. Stimulus-spending programs, which are short-term in nature and often involve infrastructure projects, can also help drive business demand by creating short-term jobs. Increasing income or consumption...

P4 M2 Adr

...P4 Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a way of settling disputes without going to court. There are four ways of ADR, these are: Negotiation Mediation Conciliation Arbitration Negotiation: this is the first way of ADR and the parties involved (which is usually two or more) attempt to come to an agreement or try to compromise before using any other methods of ADR. This can be done with or without a solicitor however the decision made is not legally binding. Negotiation is private as only the parties involved are there when the negotiation takes place, it is also cheap as there is no cost unless a solicitor is involved. Mediation: there are always three or more parties involved in mediation and one of the parties is the mediator. The mediator doesn’t have an active role in resolving the dispute but acts a facilitator so the parties find a way to solve their issues themselves, even if the issue is resolved the decision made isn’t legally binding. Conciliation: unlike mediation where the mediator doesn’t have an active role, in conciliation the conciliator does. The conciliator suggests ideas that would solve the dispute between the parties however the decision that may be reached is not legally binding. Rather than the parties going to court conciliation is offered to them as an alternative, this is usually done in the workplace. Arbitration: out of all methods of ADR arbitration is the only one where the arbitrator has the authority to make the decision...

...from social involvement with others as they get older; older people would have restricted opportunities to interact with others due to reduced health and social opportunities. Activity theory- It has been argued that older people needed to disengage, but that they also needed to remain ‘active’ in order to prevent disengagement going too far. Bromley said ‘It is not sufficient merely to provide facilities for elderly people. They need to be educated to make use of them and encouraged to abandon apathetic attitudes and fixed habits.’ Too much disengagement would lead to ‘stagnation’ and a loss of mental and physical skills. Elderly people need to stay somewhat engaged in social activity to avoid becoming completely isolated from society. M2- Discuss two major theories of ageing in relation to the development of the individual. I will be discussing two major theories of ageing (disengagement & activity theory) and discuss at which point my chosen celebrity might disengage or stay actively involved with social activities as they become older. Considering the role of continuity for my chosen celebrity. Disengagement- This major theory of disengagement where it is said that older people would naturally tend to withdraw from social involvement with others as they have restricted opportunities. The organisation I have chosen to refer to in this part of my assignment is Microsoft. Microsoft is an American multinational software corporation headquartered in, Washington that develops, manufactures, licenses, and supports a wide range of products and services related to computing including Laptops, computers, Xbox 360 and Xbox one. The company was famously founded by Bill Gates in 1975. Microsoft is the world's largest software maker measured by revenues and so far has made $77 billion up to now in 2013 alone. Fiscal policy Fiscal policy is the use of government expenditure and taxation to try to influence the level of economic activity. The varied use of raised and lowered fiscal policies can have a number of effects on customers, public sector organisations such as the NHS and Police and private limited organisations such as Tesco and Microsoft. Below I will describe how different fiscal policies will directly affect Microsoft and its customers. Cuts in income tax If the government fiscal committee decide to cut income tax then this has a direct effect on organisations because it means Microsoft will gain more disposable income and capital spending as some of their revenue income which would go to government is being kept...
