Grease Analysis

...The year is 1959, a pivotal moment in American cultural history, when rock and roll was giving birth to the Sexual Revolution and everything in America culture was about to be turned upside down. Record companies were releasing more than a hundred singles every week and the country was about to explode. Grease, generally considered a trivial little musical about The Fabulous Fifties, is really the story of America’s tumultuous crossing over from the 50s to the 60s, throwing over repression and tradition for freedom and adventure (and a generous helping of cultural chaos), a time when the styles and culture of the disengaged and disenfranchised became overpowering symbols of teenage power and autonomy. Originally a rowdy, dangerous, over-sexed, and insightful piece of alternative theatre, Grease was inspired by the rule-busting success of Hair and shows like it, rejecting the trappings of other Broadway musicals for a more authentic, more visceral, more radical theatre experience that revealed great cultural truths about America. An experience largely forgotten by most productions of the show today. Like Hair before it and The Rocky Horror Show which would come a year later, Grease is a show about repression versus freedom in American sexuality, about the clumsy, tentative, but clearly emerging sexual freedom of the late 1950s, seen through the lens of the middle of the Sexual Revolution in the 1970s. It’s about the near carnal passion 1950s teenagers felt for their rock...

While hypnotised, a person’s brain functions at a deeper level called the alpha level where the subconscious is highly susceptible to suggestions and messages. Also, hypnosis can reduce the biases and normative behaviour associated with respondents and can also be effectively used in banner ads and other visually propagated advertisements. The paper studies the various ways in which hypnosis and suggestions have been used and are being currently used by advertisers. Delinquency in America

...Delinquency in America: 1 A Search to Find Solutions to Delinquency in America Richard Micheal Stanford Criminal Justice 230 Delinquency in America: 2 Introduction A Search to Find Solutions to Delinquency in America In this paper, some of the factors that go into some of the things that happen in the lives of youth today will be examined. It will also look at what impact family and community have on youth and the morals of society. Together we can find possible solutions to drastically reduce delilnquency. Delinquency in America: 3 Family Structure, Life, and Involvement There is a rise in delinquency and a blatant lack of respect from the youth of today. This increase has been caused by a significant shift in the family dynamic since the 1950’s and 1960’s, today’s constantly changing society, the devaluation of morals in society, and desensitization caused by media and entertainment. As sad as it may be, this is the way things are today. When one thinks of the traditional American family they picture something like the Cleavers from Leave it to Beaver or the Cunninghams from Happy Days. The father would go to work all day and come home to dinner on the table. The mother would do her own equally important work keeping the household together daily. Children even had their duties; they would go to school, play some kind of sport, play in the neighborhood until dinner and just be kids. Let’s look at the role the father played fifty to sixty years ago. For the...

The purpose of this article is to present a best practices model for optimal development of the leadership pipeline and a series of practical recommendations for organizations. Design/methodology/approach – A group of 30 CEOs and human resource executives across 15 best practice organizations were asked via semi-structured interviews to describe the content and delivery of their respective organizations’ leadership development and succession planning practices.
