Abstract
Nail art is a fashion sense in today’s world of fashion; it has become more and more popular in the beauty industry and women and men all across the world are making this a fashion trend. Whether or not nail art may be a “new” trend or not, nail polish has been around since high- gloss car paint was invented. Interestingly, back in 3200 B.C., Babylonian males wore black or green nail polish, which signified class; with green representing the lower class and black as the higher class.(Oliveras, 2012) Other countries such as China, Britain, France, and America have an intriguing history of how nail polish existed in their culture. Nail polish and nail art may be the trend today; however, it has always been a trend for many other cultures back in history as well.
Keywords: Nail Art, Nail Polish

In China and in Egypt, 3000 B.C., the Chinese wore color on their nails as a reflection of class and the ruling of the different Dynasties. The Egyptian and Indian women stained their nails using henna so that the color of their nails would distinguish the upper and lower class; similar to the Babylonian’s. The Babylonian wore green which represented the lower class and black as the higher class. Colors such as a light red were worn by the people of the Victorian era. (Oliveras, 2012) Nail polish and Nail art isn’t a new thing… it has been around for many years and was an ancient resemblance of culture and class, today we use nail art as a representation of fashion and style.
In 1920, Michelle Menard et al. discovered that paint used on cars worked on finger nails as well and decided to produce nail polish using a formula that didn’t involve dye in (1932) her line of cosmetics became known as Revlon, which now is one of the top producing cosmetics in today’s’ line to make-up and nail polish industry. The first bottle of nail polish hit the shelves with colors that were unseen by anyone. Once nail polish became popular in the fashion world, actresses and models begin wearing colors on their nails as a fashion statement.
In Paris 1976, another popular nail style became known; the French manicure created by Jeff Pink, founder of another popular line of nail products called ORLY. (Oliveras, 2012) A French manicure is a painted half moon on the tip of the nail in white polish and a light pink color polished over it. Jeff discovered that this style of polish was an easier way to keep actresses and their finger nails matched with all of their outfits. Instead of having to change the color of their nails for different scenes, a French manicure did the trick. French nails are very popular and still today clients will request this look.
In the 90’s, nail art became a symbol of communication between subcultures for example Goths, rock stars and punk wore black nail polish. (Artemis, 2011) Nail polish then became very artistic with a simple elegance of rhinestones and decals, and then art involving airbrushing became popular. Airbrushing was usually done on fake nails which were discovered by dentist Maxwell Lappe in 1934, he created the first fake nails for clients who bit their finger nails known as acrylics, and another dentist Frederick Slack accidently invented the sculpting of acrylics. (Chang, 2012) Although acrylics have been the number one nail enhancement for decades, there is another lead that is about to take over. Hard Gel and Gel Polish is catching up to the acrylic trend, and people all over the world are talking about it. Unlike acrylics, gel is gentler on the finger nails and it doesn’t require mixing a powder with a liquid. Gel is cured by an LED or UV light that causes the product to harden and shaped into a natural looking nail. Creative Nail Design, a very well known nail supply company, invented the gel polish which last longer than just the regular nail polish founded by Menard. Gel polish is a very unique way of wearing polish on finger nails. It is polished on like regular polish and cured under a light, once cured it is finished with wiping alcohol on it and magically… the polish is dry and you are ready to walk out the door.
Conclusion
Today, nail art is considered as an accessory and everyday there are new styles and designs that are being discovered. With the new trends of nail polish and nail art, the nail industry continues to grow. Products such as Minx are stick-on colors and designs for nails, Shellac and Gelish are the top leading gel products. Interestingly, the nail industry continues to grow with new products that are meant to improve the look of your nails but in the healthiest way possible, and throwing out all the products that can damage and ruin your nails, such as acrylic.
Nail polish and nail art have come a long way. In India 5000 B.C., nail art was very popular using henna, and in China 600 B.C., the Chou Dynasty used nail art as a symbol of wealth and wore silver and gold on their long nails with jewels to protect it. So who really invented Nail Art? It has been the trend for many other cultures back in history so nail art couldn’t be a new discovery. Nail art has a history and has been a trend for many cultures to identify class and rank. Nail art today is a fashion trend and many people flaunt it as an accessory to add to their look like they do with jewelry. Nail art has always been very popular to different cultures in their own ways however; today it has become more popular in the same ways such as design and art.

...A Guide for Writing a Technical Research Paper Libby Shoop Macalester College, Mathematics and Computer Science Department 1 Introduction This document provides you with some tips and some resources to help you write a technical research paper, such as you might write for your required capstone project paper. First, congratulations are in order– you are embarking on an activity that is going to change the way you think and add to the overall body of human knowledge. The skill of gathering information, deciding what is important, and writing about it for someone else is extremely valuable and will stay with you for the rest of your life. Because we humans have been doing this for quite some time, we have some reasonably standard forms for technical research papers, which you should use for your capstone. You should do this because your paper will better understood by readers who are familiar with this form. Before you can begin writing your paper, you need to have a sense for what research entails, so I’ll start there. Then I will give you some tips about writing, including connecting with your readers, defining your topic, the format of your paper, and how to include references from the literature. I am a computer scientist, so be aware that parts of this paper are biased toward my discipline. 2 What is Research? A short definition of research, as given by Booth, Colomb, and Williams (Booth et al., 1995) is “gathering the information you need to......

...are often used interchangeably to describe work which previously was done with paper, but which now has been adapted to information & communication technology (ICT) devices and software. The Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) has defined information technology (IT) in the electronic era as "the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware." IT entails processes involving the use of computers and software to create, convert, store, process, transmit, and retrieve information securely. The term has recently been broadened to ICT (Information and Communications Technology), so as to include the idea of electronic communication. To be paperless means essentially that the traditional paper-based practices-such as writing, note taking, reading, editing, communicating, and even drawing-are instead performed electronically with ICT devices and software. Much has been said and written about the paperless office in recent years, and the rapid development of ICT is enabling an increasing number of paperless practices. The relationship between paperless work styles and ICT is intimate and interdependent; a paperless work and lifestyle cannot be implemented without ICT, and the use of ICT should naturally lead to becoming paperless. Paradoxically, however, the consumption of paper has increased exponentially since the advent of personal...

...Learning Letter To be honest I’ve never been an excellent writer. When it comes to writing a paper for high school classes, scholarships, and basically everything else I’ve always had trouble with starting my paper and figuring out what to write about my topic. However, choosing a topic has never been a problem for me because I’m passionate about many different things. Whenever I would write a paper in high school I usually wouldn’t spend much time on it because of a couple different reasons, either the teacher chose a topic for me and I simply wasn’t very interested, and also because of procrastination. I believe this class will help me become interested in writing which will motivate me to do the work. As a person I’ve always been more of a reader than a writer. I started reading fantasies like the Lord of the Rings novels at a young age. During my freshmen year of high school I was introduced to writers and poets like Charles Bukowski, Allen Ginsberg, and Hunter S Thompson, and I’ve been reading similar works ever since. One thing that I’ve always wanted to do with writing is being able to write poetry similar to Bukowski. I’m hoping this class can help with that. Even though this class is obviously required to take I’m excited to be in it so I can improve on the things that I struggle with in writing. By the end of this quarter I want to be able to choose a topic, start the paper with ease, and also be able to generate ideas about the topic easily. I’m excited to see......

However writing the first paper that was given , It really helped me to understand that most people don’t get it right their first try. Initially I would approach it as preparing my writing down note. Next, I proof read my work and correct the grammar and punctuation. Often, I will have someone read it for composition and clarification of my sentences. Finally, I would prepare my final copy. I have felt so much less pressure knowing that my writings don’t have to be perfect the first time. This is why I really like how you give us the opportunity to revise our essays as many times as we need to get them to our satisfaction. I know that I’m never content Often it reaches the point when I get frustrated and think, “Okay, I need to stop stressing over this. ...throughout my writing career and will forever get better. This is proven because when my writing career started in elementary school the quality was very poor, but now as my career as a writer has progresses it improves in quality and intensity. It also represents when I start writing a paper, it starts off as a cocoon with the words all compacted and coming together until it comes out all together in a paper. The second simile of riding a bike for the first time is like that first time that you write a paper. It comes out sloppy and not put together very well but as you keep writing you get better and better until you can write just like riding a bike, as you start off you can't stay up and it is hard to ride but the more you ride the better you get until you can successfully ride a bike. The third simile of climbing a mountain is exactly like when you start writing a paper. You get stuck trying to come up with that first topic sentence its just like finding that first hand hold you can pick one but its not sturdy enough to hold your weight or you can not continue up the mountain, but when you find that one hand hold or in this case that perfect topic sentence that sets the tone for the paper you know you can continue. This is getting past that first obstacle. Along the road or in this instance mountain there can be many obstacles like the rock being slippery, going the wrong way, or grabbing a hand hold that doesn't stay together. This is...
