Juggling Multiple Jobs at Once
Dakota Maynard, Kenneth Cromer, BUS101 10/29/2015
Trident University

Scenario 3: You have two jobs—one during the week from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and one on Saturday from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. You are taking two classes—one that meets from 6:00 to 10:00 pm, and one class online. You have two kids—one who plays soccer, and one who is in band. You have two elderly parents who no longer drive. You have two siblings—one who lives two (2) miles away, and one who lives in another state. You have two (2) papers due in your classes the same week that one (1) of your children has a soccer tournament, and the other child has a band concert. You are coaching the soccer team, and you are in charge of fundraising for the band. You have a goal to complete your degree in two (2) years. Your doctor tells you that your blood pressure, your cholesterol, and your weight are too high and recommends several medications that cost you nearly $200 per month after your insurance co-pay.

Abstract
So when faced with a problem you have to think and analyze how you are going to resolve it. With the scenario that I picked there are many of problems that need some type of resolution. In my opinion I have a similar situation to this scenario so I will share with you on how I work everything out. So to start it off what I did in my situation is first I came up with trying to come to a set schedule for both jobs, once that little issue was resolved then here comes school work being in between. So on my days off which I only get one unfortunately but besides the point that one day that I have free I use to do all school work and let everyone know that I am not available on the one day I do get off. How I would go by with having kids and having to go to band concerts and other activities I would definitely have a family member or my husband try to pitch in and help

Perspective Parents

...How to raise the proper parent with government aid Some parents and perspective parents are at a huge risk right now. They are at a risk of their child not growing up to be the best that they can be. Children are America's future and should be taken care of as such. No child should suffer abuse from a mother or father. No child should ever go hungry and feel the cold bite of winter every night. No child should fear that they are not in a safe place. No child should grow up doing bad things and thinking that those bad things are acceptable things to do. Parental licenses can eliminate all of those fears and bad habits by creating a better and safer life for all children. Perspective parents can have difficulty raising their child if they don't...

Children and Parent

...Children are the mirrors reflect their parents. It is undeniable that children learn many behaviors from their parents. Thus, I agree that parents are good teachers. Firstly, parents are the teachers who frequently comuticate with their children. Because essence of learning is process of repeat. As a result of watching and listening everyday, it is very quickly and deeply that children learn from their parents’ behaviors and change them as their behaviors. During significant process of growing up, children learn behaviours from their parents. For example, children see their parents help an old man cross the street, they will do like that next time. Son obseves his father shave beard, he will try to do when he is home alone.  Secondly, parents are not only teachers but also supervisers. While teachers oversee students at school, parents are the 24/7 supervisers. Mothers and fathers put eyes everywhere their children are and oversee their activities. Mother teachs children how to wash the dishes and observes how they do. If they do badly, they will remind how to do well.  Moreover, parents teach their children by special emotion. In vast majority of case, teachers punish students because they want a strict class in rule while parents do because they want children become better. It is easier for children to receive a lesson which is explained by emotional words than hollow words. Overall, parents play a significant role in children’s life as the good teachers. And children deserve...

Parent-Adult

...Parent, Adult and Child The passion for truth is silenced by answers which have the weight of undisputed authority - Paul Tillion Early in his work in the development of Transactional Analysis, Berne observed that as you watch and listen to people, you can see them change before your eyes. It is a total kind of change. There are simultaneous changes in facial expression, vocabulary, gestures, posture and body functions, which may cause the face to flush, the heart to pound, or the breathing to become rapid. We can observe these abrupt changes in everyone: the little boy who bursts into tears when he can’t make a toy work, the teenage girl whose woeful face floods with excitement when the phone finally rings, the man who grows pale and trembles when he gets the news of a business failure, the father whose face “turns to stone” when his son disagrees with him. The individual who changes in these ways is till the same person in terms of bone structure, skin and clothes. So what changes inside him? He changes from what to what? This was the question which fascinated Berne in the early development of Transactional Analysis. A thirty – five – year – old lawyer, whom he was treating, said, I’m not really a lawyer, I’m just a little boy.” Away from the psychiatrist’s office he was, in fact, a successful lawyer, but in treatment he felt and acted like a little boy. Sometimes during the hour he would ask, “Are you talking to the lawyer or to the little boy?” Both Berne and his...

Parents and Kids

...Parents and their children hold a special relationship with each other. The relationship between parents and their children have a great effect on the child's life. Through the readings, this is apparent in positive relationships, negative relationships, and in average relationships between the parent and the child. A positive relationship between parents and their children helps with the up bringing of the child. This is seen in Theodore Roethke's piece, "My Papa's Waltz , and in William Butler Yeats piece, "A Prayer for My Daughter . In Roethke's piece he writes, "We romped until the pans slid from the kitchens shelf; [My] mother's countenance could not unfrown itself. (202) Here he reflects on the good time that they had. It is also apparent in, " You beat time on [my] head with a palm caked hard by dirt, then waltzed me off to bed still clinging to your shirt. (202) This shows that he was having fun and he clung to his fathers shirt because he didn't want to go to bed, he wanted to spend more time with his father. Throughout Yeat's entire piece a positive relationship is seen as well. He prays for what he hopes his daughter will have while she grows and matures. What catches my eye the most is, "May she become a flourishing hidden tree, that all her thoughts may like the linnet be, and have no business but dispensing round their magnanimities of sound. (204) It is obvious that he wants the best for his daughter, for her to flourish and mature and also to think on...

Western Parents

...Work harder, try harder, and be better! This is the parenting structure that the Chinese mother uses to effectively parent their children; whereas, western mother’s focus more on individuality and letting their children decide their own interest and path. The major differences between these two parenting styles is the methods in which the parents drive their children, the views of both the child and parent on success and failure, and the responsibilities the child will endure once they have grown up. Keep in mind that these are just two parenting styles out of the numerous other ways to parent a child. All styles should be considered when determining what is the best style for you and your child. Please remember that this essay will only discuss these two styles and the ways in which they are different. “Driving” our children is undoubtedly an important factor as parents that we must do to ensure that our children reach the success that they deserve. These styles of parenting reach this success level in a two very different ways. Amy Chua, in her book Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, discusses a story in which she pushes her child, Lulu, to complete a piano piece perfectly. She explains the difficulty behind the piece and how her daughter was unsure of herself and he abilities to do this piece perfectly. Overzealous Parents

...Taren Bradd Mrs. Burton English 4/ Period 5 January 25, 2011 Overzealous Parents There is one at almost every sporting event. They are parents that yell outrageously at the players, coaches, and referees, disrupting the sporting event, or pausing games. Even though there are other families and younger children around. These are parents that are displaying unsportsmanlike conduct and sometimes even violent behavior. Over the years there are more and more parents that are becoming over involved in their children’s sporting activities. Parents today are demonstrating over involvement, over spending, and are over booking their children in youth sports and extracurricular activities. Sports are supposed to be fun and competitive but more fun and entertaining than anything. Parental over involvement is becoming a problem because they can take the fun out of sports for the kids. Parent’s voices can go along way. Yelling and cheering on players and teams is a good thing. Parents should be excited and giving the kids good complements. But when parents display bad sportsmanship it is a different story. As parents are yelling mean statements they are not thinking about how that might make that kid feel. The child’s parents are most likely around somewhere and may get upset as well. If kids are hearing insults and inappropriate words yelled at them the game would also become less fun and hard to focus on. Some kid’s use it to their advantage, and play better because they...

A Good Parent

...discipline him enough, does he know right from wrong? Many parents ask themselves questions like these daily. But how do you know if you are raising your child right? I mean there is no degree in parenting. You take what you know from growing up and decided I want to be like my parents, or I will never be like my parents. I guess there is no sketched out map to raise your child correctly, but there are key things every parent needs to remember. Being a good parent requires you to be their parent not their best friend, discipline and most importantly love and nurture. To many parents these days feel they need to be their child’s best friend, they worry too much about how their child views them. A parent should be a good role model, model the behavior they wish there kids to show. But being their best friend will only hinder your child in the long run. They need someone who will set boundaries, someone who will discipline and someone who they can turn to when they need advice. I think it is important to be involved with your child’s life, but a parent must remember their involvement needs to be limited to being a parent and not a friend. Your child should be able to turn to you when they need advice or they are in trouble, and as a parent you should always make yourself available to your child for such things. Your child can make many friends at school and other activities, but when they come home they need a parent at the end of the day. Discipline is a subject that has...

Children and Parent

...Sharing of Parental Responsibility Act The Equal Sharing of Parental Responsibility Act requires that parents take equal responsibility for the costs of raising their children. The Act begins with a presumption of a fifty/fifty sharing of physical placement of the children between the parents, and neither parent would make support payments to the other. This presumption does not apply if either parent is shown to be unfit. The parties may stipulate to a different placement arrangement under the following guidelines. A per diem cost for raising children, based on the costs of domestic service providers, food, clothing, medical insurance, shelter and entertainment, determined by analysis of actual market costs shall be established by the Department of Health and Human Services. The cost of domestic service providers shall include the cost of day, evening and overnight childcare, doing laundry, food preparation and clean up, chauffeuring children and any other services required when one has children. The parties may stipulate that one parent will pay the other a minimum of 90% of the per diem cost of raising the children, for any days above 183 per year, for which the non paying spouse takes physical placement of the children. Parents Influence

...Kayla Copp Fran Avagliano Principles of Business 11/30/14 Parents Should Try Being Present Instead of Perfect We have a lot of American families who no longer have dinner together or just able to spend time as a family. It has becomes a difficult task as sometimes people are working different schedules or too busy with other tasks that need to be completed for that day. For example the first Iron Chef, Cat Cora has found that both parents have to play a role in taking care of the children. They need to make sure that they have food on the table, that they have lunches for school or just even to help your kid practice sports. Even though she has those parent roles and does them every day she is not perfect. Latifa Lyles, a Director of the Women’s Bureau of the US Department of Labor said that only about one-fifth of the parents actually have a one parent that stays home. When try to be the perfect homemaker you actually lose what is going on around you and it’s not perfect. As Cora had stated “Kids don’t care”, “they just want to see you, hear your voice, and be told that they are loved”. I know that is something I agree with because I feel the same way now. There was a study done by Sarah Bowen that showed that a middle class mom cooks 4-5 nights a week but are upset by social media because they make it out to be that the meals should be made from scratch or organic. I believe that even though they are not made from scratch there is still a meal on the table so what...

Chinese Parents

...Essay Chinese Parents Traditional Chinese-style parenting bans the unproductive activity called “fun”, it is a foreign word for the children under the affects of this style of parenting. In order to raise successful children, fun is not allowed. The article Chinese parents, puts this phenomenon into perspective as the writer describes how she, in traditional Chinese-style, is raising her own children, Sophia and Louisa. She indignantly puts the “Western parents” in contrast to her own way of raising kids, using the term “Chinese mother”. Sophia and Louisa are raised to follow an unusual set of rules. They are prohibited any form of activity that leads a profit of happiness. Activities as playdates and playing computer games, which is what defines any other childhood, are strictly forbidden. Chinese mothers believe that their rather harsh and strict choice, in style of parenting, reflects the stereotypical successful kids. A truculent example of this parenting is described by the writer herself, as she exemplifies her own childhood, where she disrespected her own mom. This resulted in her father calling her “garbage” cursing her with sudden regret and shame. It then seems perfectly normal for the writer, to psychologically control her own kids, by emotionally manipulating their feelings, such as making them feel guilt and shame. It even seems, that the writer is happy about the fact, that she is able to explicitly say whatever she wants, to her kids. “Chinese mothers can...

Goog Parents

...Active Participant Parents need to be active participants in the life of their child. Your child learns by watching you, so be aware of what you project. Embrace your parenting job with enthusiasm, compassion, a sense of humor and a clear memory of what it’s like to be a child. Take the time to know your child’s personality and parent your child based on her strengths and weaknesses, according to family relationship expert, Dr. Gary Smalley. If your child is loyal, consistent and compliant because she wants your approval, a disapproving look or a soft word could rectify a misstep. A strong-willed, take-charge and independent child, however, requires more discipline. Nurturer Whether you are male or female, you can nurture your child. You can demonstrate unconditional love by addressing the behavior and not the character of the child when applying correction, advises KidsHealth. Express forgiveness when your child shows remorse for a misdeed. If you know what behaviors are mistakes or age-appropriate exploration, you can make allowances for those behaviors in ways that encourage your child to grow and learn. Employ positive reinforcement when you set limits and keep your expectations realistic and appropriate to your child’s development and abilities. Your toddler probably won’t sit still for several hours and your teen isn’t going to blindly accept everything you say. Helicopter Parents

...Date The Helicopter Parent Phenomena Helicopter parenting is the parental involvement in a child’s life in a way that is overprotective, over controlling, and over perfecting. Some argue that this kind of parenting ruins the child’s life but others support this mode of parenting, as parents have an active role in their children’s lives. For example, the parent regularly calls the dean of students to ask about a child’s academic performance and selecting their preferred classes. These parents like to micro-manage every aspect of their children’s lives including school, work, and relationships. In this way, the child has no alone time and cannot learn to solve problems that arise in life. Most people think that parents should allow their children to have difficulties when they are children. Through facing challenging situations, they learn to deal with hardships and to develop the internal stamina needed to handle similar situations in the future. Although some people think, that helicopter parenting is beneficial in some cases, the negative effects far outweigh the purported benefits. As with any other controversial topic, helicopter parenting has its disadvantages and advantages. On one hand, helicopter parents want the best for their children and some even manage to help the children in their endeavors (Jayson para3). Children with helicopter parents usually have a close bond with their parents even during their adulthood. Additionally, helicopter parents tend to know where...

Parents with Immature Behaviors

Photo: Adam Nemser/photolink.net/Newscom After a tough first year at an Ivy League university, 20-year-old Sarah was looking forward to relaxing over the summer. Unfortunately, her parents made that impossible. "My dad's an alcoholic, and my mom's addicted to dating alcoholics," the Stanford, California, native says. "They're divorced, and my dad is broke, so I had to help him get government assistance. Meanwhile, I needed to deal with my mom's drama about the terrible guys she chooses." Between running her mom's dating life and managing her dad's finances, Sarah was exhausted by summer's end—and relieved to return to college thousands of miles away. "I can't do much from here, so I can't feel guilty," she says. These days countless teens like Sarah, who are coping with irresponsible parents, are forced to step in as the mature party. "When parents refuse to act like adults, it creates a power vacuum. Someone has to fill that space, and most often it's the teen son or daughter," explains...

Single Parent Families

...One of the most striking changes in family structure over the last twenty years has been the increase in single-parent families. In 1970, the number of single-parent families with children under the age of 18 was 3.8 million. By 1990, the number had more than doubled to 9.7 million. For the first time in history, children are more likely to reside in a single-parent family for reasons other than the death of a parent. One in four children are born to an unmarried mother, many of whom are teenagers. Another 40 percent of children under 18 will experience parental breakup. Ninety percent of single-parent families are headed by females. Not surprisingly, single mothers with dependent children have the highest rate of poverty across all demographic groups (Olson & Banyard, 1993). Approximately 60 percent of U.S. children living in mother-only families are impoverished, compared with only 11 percent of two-parent families. The rate of poverty is even higher in African-American single-parent families, in which two out of every three children are poor. Effects on Children Past research has indicated that children from single-parent families are more likely to experience less healthy lives, on the average, than children from intact families. For instance, children growing up with only one parent are more likely to drop out of school, bear children out of wedlock, and have trouble keeping jobs as young adults. Other consequences include risks to psychological development, social...
