Partnerships will be the best choice for Netflix since the company can gain more viewership and market share (Krengel et al., 2010). There are two essential recommends for Netflix to do a partnership.

It is known for being the pioneer offering its users entertainment content for a subscription fee. Since the foundation of Netflix in 1997 the new business concept turned into a success story with more than 70 million members around the world. People in 190 countries have access to Netflix‘s wide range of media entertainment possibilities and Netflix plans to add more to its list. But how does all of it start? Innovation was the key. Netflix’s success in the new video rental business was based on the idea to offer an online DVD mail service. Adding new technology to a breakthrough idea created a combination which was meant to succeed. There seems to be a “when I want it, how I want it” type of movement among consumers with declining interest in DVD’s and scheduled television programming and increasing use of online streaming or rental alternatives. Netflix is catering to these trends with its streaming service and seems to be well positioned, at least for now, to be successful in the future if it can manage to avoid more strategic “missteps” along the way. It is important to note how the public perceives and values films as an entertainment source here in the United States, something that directly affects Netflix’s business. Standard & Poor’s industry research for 2013 noted that “movies remain a cornerstone of the U.S. entertainment industry.” In 2012, about 1.36 billion movie tickets were sold in North America, adding up to about $10.8 billion in box office revenues. Consumers also spent about $18 billion on various home video formats in...

...Long Range Planning 43 (2010) 172e194 http://www.elsevier.com/locate/lrp Business Models, Business Strategy and Innovation David J. Teece Whenever a business enterprise is established, it either explicitly or implicitly employs a particular business model that describes the design or architecture of the value creation, delivery, and capture mechanisms it employs. The essence of a business model is in defining the manner by which the enterprise delivers value to customers, entices customers to pay for value, and converts those payments to profit. It thus reflects management’s hypothesis about what customers want, how they want it, and how the enterprise can organize to best meet those needs, get paid for doing so, and make a profit. The purpose of this article is to understand the significance of business models and explore their connections with business strategy, innovation management, and economic theory. Ó 2009 Published by Elsevier Ltd. Introduction Developments in the global economy have changed the traditional balance between customer and supplier. New communications and computing technology, and the establishment of reasonably open global trading regimes, mean that customers have more choices, variegated customer needs can find expression, and supply alternatives are more transparent. Businesses therefore need to be more customer-centric, especially since technology has evolved to allow the lower cost provision of information and customer solutions. These developments...

Kurt Lewin

...not applicable to the current world. The paper specifically looks at certain ways in which Lewin’s principles do still apply and how the Force-Field Theory is still a foundational value throughout much of the business world whether directly or through an evolutionary process. It is with this in mind that the paper is created and analyzes real world cases where this process has been executed to successfully help firms and also where it has been abandoned with consequences for other businesses. The creation and implementation of the main focus principles of Lewin’s Force-Field Theory is explained in depth and demonstrates how firms in the present can learn foundational and evolved theories from the work that Lewin executed in the 1900s for success in the present and future of firms across different platforms of business segmentation. An Analysis of Lewin’s Force-Field Theory of Change During his life, Kurt Lewin analyzed change before his eyes, not just in his philosophical and psychological seminars and studies. Kurt Lewin was born in 1890 in Prussia (present day Poland) to a fairly middle class environment. Lewin went on to receive a Ph.D. from the University of Berlin after serving in the First World War. Dr. Lewin immigrated to America as World War II erupted and brought with him his knowledge and research that...
