Benefits of Party Plates Converting to Microsoft Access Party Plates is a rapidly growing institution and an outstanding plate and napkin supply pioneer, now again, newly poised to guide the direction of special event markets. The increase of company supply paired with the current high demand for said product presents the need for upgrades to the current information system software. Current software is somewhat out-of-date which could result in regression of company growth. Party Plates must acknowledge the ever-changing status of technology and invest in the implementation of new information systems, or current system upgrades. Team C suggests investing in software which will convert current data from Microsoft Excel into a relational database using Microsoft Access. The usefulness of the conversion software will improve internal communications while assisting to streamline some of the work processes for sales departments. This will also increase efficiency in both communications and sales; thus, creating a solid platform for each resulting smoother communications and an increase in sales. Sales will increase because the department can use Microsoft Access with much more facility, which permits more time to focus primarily in sales, not wasting time on dealing with outdated software issues. Systems often crash leaving employees to return to working manually and on their own until the system is restored; the employees at Party Plates using Microsoft Access, can be sure support will be available to them because Microsoft Access is a new program which is maintained by Microsoft. There are also development consultants that can tailor Microsoft access to fit Party Plate’s needs which will make it not just user friendly but company friendly as well. Furthermore, if the information needs to be kept in more than one table, then we would need a database structured to...

Bis220 Party Plates Integration

...Party Plates Database Integration Proposal As Party Plates continues to experience unprecedented growth, we realized that we must maximize the efficiency of our operation. In an effort to deliver the highest level of customer service, and remain competitive in the retail market, Party Plates sales and accounting team conducted an efficiency study of the operation and the systems that support it. As a result of this analysis, we found that there was a need to upgrade our current sales and inventory tracking system. We are proposing that we transition from our current Microsoft Excel database to relational database software, Microsoft Access. Additionally, we will need to integrate collaborative software such as Microsoft SharePoint in the near future to best maximize the effectiveness of our new database. As you know, we currently use Microsoft Excel to track our inventory and sales. Excel has been an effective management tool in the past; our current needs demand a management system that can manage multiple tasks with multiple users. Currently, we have many spreadsheets that in general do not merge or allow us to produce appropriate reports and can only be used by one person at a time. As our business grows, so will our staff and we will need to have a system that is multifunctional for many users. Microsoft Access is a relational database system, which is capable of managing customers, suppliers, products and orders. It also will also allow us to create a variety of......

Party Plates Wireless Technology Proposal

...Party Plates is growing every day. We have increased our sales with the implementation of our new collaboration software and we want to take another step, by introducing wireless technology to the business. Wireless technology is impacting the way in which business operates and provides us with excellent opportunities to exponentially grow our business. By introducing two new wireless technologies into our business that benefits all of our departments we can further streamline our systems and potentially increase sales. The introduction of iPhones to the business will allow all of our employee’s access to our database, contact lists and everything they need to get their job done in an efficient and productive manner, wherever they may be. As you know many of our sales reps travel frequently and having an iPhone will enable them to virtually work anywhere and stay in contact with head office on a regular basis. The other wireless technology that we’d like to implement is the use of a GPS system. This will enable all of our delivery drivers to find our customers easily when they are out on the road. By purchasing a GPS tracking system that monitors our company vehicles we can monitor each driver and provide our customers with up-to-date information on their delivery times and location. Also with the implementation of both of these technologies, the sales department would be able to respond to customer’s issues, create solutions outside the work environment, respond to email......

Violence

...Pervasive Presence of Violence Throughout history there have always been prominent leaders, fighting for what they believe in no matter what the consequences. Constantly striving for change, those who had the courage to lead knew that it was only them who had the opportunity to make the future better for their children and grandchildren. Two prominent people that struggled to make a change in history were Malcolm X and Fannie Lou Hamer. One, an aggressive spokesman for Black Nationalism whose words aroused the eagerness of thousands of Black Americans struggling to break free from the mitigated clasp of poverty and racism. The other, an electrifying activist for American voting rights and a constant advocate fighting for civil rights. The two of them together fought for freedom and human justice in the south. Driving them was persistence and determination even though they constantly faced violence; they were diligent in fighting for the equal treatment among all races. So many people would call the 1960’s a decade of change. This was the period where people began to speak their minds, tell the truth, and give their opinion even if it wasn’t wanted, forcing change between whites and blacks. People of America no longer wanted a country that had a racially divided society, so the protesting was needed. Malcolm X, a man who risked his life for his brothers and sisters of America. Constantly telling of his faith and his truth, and this is what made him the intellectual hero...

The World in 2008

...EDITOR'S INTRODUCTION Two big events will frame the year ahead: America’s presidential election and the summer Olympic games in Beijing. The race for the White House will be a marathon, from the front-loaded primary season in January and February to the general election in November. The betting is that the winner will be a Democrat—with a strong chance that a Clinton will again be set to succeed a Bush as leader of the free world. China, meanwhile, will hope to use the Olympics to show the world what a splendid giant it has become. It will win the most gold medals, and bask in national pride and the global limelight. But it will also face awkward questions on its repressive politics. America and China will be prime players in the matters that will concentrate minds around the world in 2008. One of these is the world economy, which can no longer depend on America, with its housing and credit woes, to drive growth. America should—just—avoid recession, but it will be China (for the first time the biggest contributor to global growth) along with India and other emerging markets that will shine. Another focus of attention will be climate change. As China replaces America as the world’s biggest producer of greenhouse gases, serious efforts on global warming depend on the serious involvement of those two countries. If 2007 was the year when this rose to the top of the global agenda, in 2008 people will expect action. It is striking that green is a theme that links all the......

I was thirty-five at the time, four years out of law school, recently married, and generally impatient with life. A seat in the Illinois legislature had opened up, and several friends suggested that I run, thinking that my work as a civil rights lawyer, and contacts from my days as a community organizer, would make me a viable candidate. After discussing it with my wife, I entered the race and proceeded to do what every first-time candidate does: I talked to anyone who would listen. I went to block club meetings and church socials, beauty shops and barbershops. If two guys were standing on a corner, I would cross the street to hand them campaign literature. And everywhere I went, I’d get some version of the same two questions. “Where’d you get that funny name?” And then: “You seem like a nice enough guy. Why do you want to go into something dirty and nasty like politics?” I was familiar with the question, a variant on the questions asked of me years earlier, when I’d first arrived in Chicago to work in low-income neighborhoods. It signaled a......

...interim leader * Federal Liberals won’t pick new leader for full two years * Why do Liberals support Canada Post? In addition, he intervened at the beginning of the party’s so-called extraordinary convention Saturday to call for the selection of a permanent leader to be delayed for two years to give the party time to rebuild. His view won the day as Liberals decided to postpone the decision until no later than June, 2013. Mr. Dion told The Globe and Mail on Monday that when Mr. Ignatieff was leader, the media was only interested in speaking to him to find “a contradiction with Mr. Ignatieff.” When he realized that, he felt it was better “to express my views privately.” He said the only time he intervened in the Commons over the past two years was when he felt that none of his colleagues were going to jump in on an issue. Otherwise, he kept quiet – although he attended votes, debates and Question Period. That gave him a lot of time to work in his riding. For that, he now says “thank God,” given he was one of only seven Liberal MPs who returned to the Commons from Quebec. And with only 34 Liberals now in caucus of the third party, Mr. Dion is stepping up to the plate. Besides, with Mr. Rae as Interim Leader, he feels the media will no longer be looking for...

Proposal Paper

...Party Plates Proposal on Wireless Technologies BIS 220 Party Plates Proposal on Wireless Technologies Wireless technologies are a great way to implement growth and organization for Party Plates. Two recommended wireless technologies are cell phones and laptops. In this day in age, cell phones have remarkable functions and capabilities and have the ability to hold as much storage as a PC. Furthermore, cell phones will allow our employees to stay connected, have access to email, customer information, and orders while out in the field. On the other hand, with the use of wireless laptops, Party Plates can work anywhere when a cell phone does not have any service. With the use of a laptop, information can be easily stored and displayed to the corporation’s employees in order to add and make changes. This allows Party Plates employees to organize and manage files without having to waste time in sorting through files that are stored in cabinets. One phone in particular that is great for business is the iPhone 5. While this phone is one of the most expensive on the market, it will be well worth it. The iPhone 5 serves as a phone, camera, video camera, GPS, iPod, and web browser. In addition, the number of applications that can be downloaded on this device is limitless. The iPhone 5 has presentation and spreadsheet capabilities. Letters, flyers, and cards can also be created on the iPhone 5. Wireless Technology Proposal

...Wireless Technologies Proposal BIS/220 Ivon Young Wireless Technologies Proposal Mrs. Smith, the President of Party Plates likes to know about wireless technologies available for her business to use. Currently, her company doesn’t use any wireless technologies. She has asked team D to recommend at least two wireless technologies that would be beneficial to implement her organization. Proposal There are many different options out there that could work to assist in the daily operational activities; two of these technologies that would be most beneficial are handheld terminals and a company e-mail system. When a customer is looking for a product that cannot be found on the shelf in the store, an employee can use the handheld terminal to scan the label on the shelf to see if there is any in stock. If so, they will be able to see where the product is located and quickly locate. Another situation where the handheld terminal is useful is inventory. A Party Plates employee can quickly identify products that are low in stock. Because there are so many functions on the handheld terminals, managers can give the employees codes with passwords to monitor the work that each employee is or is not doing. Another technology that would be very useful to Party Plates is a company e-mail system. A manager may need to get a communication to all employees at one time. With a company e-mail system, doing so would be very easy. Communication could involve hot......
