In Lisa’s Foderaro’s article “To Well-to-Do Get Less So, and Teenagers Feel the Crunch” she discusses how the economy today affects families financially and the unstable job security teenagers and adults are experiencing. She begins to tell the reader a story about a girl named Jodi Hamilton who is a senior at Woodcliff Lake, N.J., and her parents financially provide for her extracurricular activities consisting of private Pilot classes, once a week physics tutor, and a weekly $100 allowance. Unfortunately, for Jodi’s mother, she would lose her prestigious job of managing a top dental practice in the Bronx. These methods included pathos, logos and ethos. Pathos is described by Federaro expressing to the reader the type of impact family’s burden financially when a spouse loses his or her job. And the economy is to blame. Logo’s is expressed through various statistics and facts that compose her paper and lastly, ethos is described to the reader by adding trust in the article through many stories that are included in many body paragraph’s. To start Fedararo states that with teenager’s applying to jobs now, they are doing so at the wrong time. This is because adults who are out-of-work are competing for those jobs, once thought to be reserved for teeneagers. To make things offset further, Febararo includes that teenagers appling is at all time high, up 40-60% a month last full but with each application it is hard to be hired. Lastly, Febararo includes a graph in the middle of her article, titled “Teenage Workers.” The graph is a representation of teenagers working is high and the number of jobs available is increasingly difficult to manage because of the increase in job seekers. By the author Febararo, including the many statistical pieces used throughout it gives the reader the impression the accuracy of what she is saying. Without this, it would be difficult to understand how bad the situation of the economy
