Patience is necessary for success. It is said that “all good things come to those who wait” If we wish to achieve anything of significance, we cannot expect to achieve it overnight.
Patience teaches us to value the effort and not just the success. It is a mistake to think that happiness can only be attained through certain achievements.

Patience takes time to learn if you aren’t born with it. You have to be able to trust and wait. Being patient brings peace of mind. When we expect certain outcomes, we have no peace in mind for we set the standards extremely high.
An example is simply going to see a movie and expecting it to be the best move you’ve ever seen. If you go into it expecting that, you will most likely be disappointed, and you will be upset. Its the same thing with patience. If you expect something to be incredible before you’ve gotten to it, you won’t have peace in your mind when its not what you expected, and you may not enjoy the event as much as you would have had you not had a high expectation.

Patience means that we can work with out expecting a certain outcome. Patience means we will work with an attitude of detachment. It is this detachment that bring peace of mind.

- Restraint is learnt by being patient. Simply indulging in an irritated, impatient bad mood because we feel annoyed is childish and is often unacceptable to others. restraint is about being more rational and controlled in our behavior. Its about being calm and keeping ourselves in check.

- Control comes with patience, deciding how to respond rather than hastily reacting. We manage time better when we are patient and are not in such a rush to get things done. Then we can plan better and manage each stage of a project.

...Patience    Patience is the first weapon for the believer to use when facing hardship. Patience has been mentioned in the Noble Qur’an more then 90 times. Also it was mentioned many times in authentic Ahadith of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.). All of these verses and Ahadith talk about the importance of patience in the lives of the believers. All of the messengers of Allah (S.A.W.) suffered great hardships in their lives, yet all of them practiced patience. Therefore, Allah (S.W.T.) alleviated their hardship and promised them great rewards in the hereafter.  Today I would like to talk, in detail, about patience. I hope this speech will provide you with knowledge about patience and be a good reminder for all of us. What is the Definition of Patience: Patience is when a person restrains himself from being fearful during hard times. Also, a person who is patient restrains himself from doing prohibited acts and does what is obligated and righteous. Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim said, “There are three types of patience: Firstly, practicing patience to fulfill the obligations and to do righteous. Secondly, abstaining from evil and prohibited acts. And thirdly, practicing patience during times of hardship without complaints.” Importance of Patience: Imam Ibn Taymiyyah said, “Allah mentions patience in His Book more than 90 times. Pregnant Stroke

...In this reflective essay, I will be describing how the midwifery emergency department had helped me develop clinical skills in therapeutic communication using Driscoll’s reflective cycle. Sally was assigned to a hospital for a thorough checked up as she has become a victim of stroke while being 28 weeks pregnant. Due to the stroke, Sally was only able to communicate through nodding her head and answering yes or no. Sue is a midwife and has been appointed to be Sally’s midwife for the time being. As a professional, Sue must go through a procedure to examine her patient and the infant’s health. When Sue first approached Sally, Sue provided information that was needed for patient and her husband. Sue introduced herself and then described the process that she would attempt to do on Sally. I sense this action Sue has taken was able to relieve patient and her husband as they were informed of what would happen in the next few minutes, therefore they would not be frightened. Sue then continue to proceed to the next phrase and started exploring more fully about her patient’s situation. Sue asked Sally some fundamental questions such as “Do you feel the baby moving?” as Sally was unable to speak. Gradually, Sue tried to extinguish the worrying and devastated atmosphere by using a gentle tone, such as “You’ve seen one of these before Sally, this is a doppler.” From my observation, when Sue was communicating with Sally and David, both verbal and non-verbal techniques were used, for...

Beautiful Patience

...everything without planning, or just conceal our faith from the world. During the Prophet’s (SAW) time we did not do that, we showed our religion openly no matter how much persecution, discrimination, and slander are made against us. Yes, we should protect ourselves, but we don't have to hide our religion, we should be proud to walk around in our Hijabs, and Jalabiyas, be proud to be able to live somewhere where we can say La ilaha ill Allah. We will observe how the Prophet did this in his life, how he spread the message even though he had troubles, discrimination, persecution, pain and still forgave when most of us wouldn't with these brutal acts, we will talk about Prophet Muhammad's patience through all his difficulties and why he worked so hard to spread the message La ilaha ill Allah, His Beautiful Patience. One of the most difficult times for the Muslims when Islam was first revealed was in Makkah. Muslims were brutally murdered and persecuted to the point that Muslims could not...

Neuro

...journal #7 June 1st I was in Neuro ICU. This had to of been one of the most interesting floor I’ve ever been on just because the brain is very unpredictable. My nurse gave me a run down of the patients we were going to have. First thing we did was take vitals and reposition them. Since most of the docs. come by early we went through labs and pointed out which were of concern. One of the patients had all po meds but he was intubated so we ordered an NGtube. He also had no urine output because his kidneys where shot. The other patient was waiting for surgery to be scheduled he was pretty alert at times but at other times he was confused my nurse spent a good part of the morning trying to figure out who was next of kin. Since I didn’t have much going on with my patients I was called over to help change a patient that was detoxing from alcohol. It was really interesting because this patient was so out of it and thrashing around even with restraints she was very combative. Every so often I was called over to watch the patient while the nurse went to see her other patient. I also got to see a PICC line getting pulled. I thought the day went very well. The nurses all seemed very receptive to students and wanted to teach us wither or not they were our nurse or not. I liked that I was able to see new things.I also liked how they all helped each other out it seemed like a great place to...

...Empowerment Robyn Frid Ohio University Empowerment ‘The nurse’s main responsibility is to view healthcare as a basic human need and right of each person, that include a patient’s right to be heard, to be treated with dignity and respect, to be given a safe environment, and overall well-being” ( Burkhardt &Nathaniel, 2014, p.496 ). By being role models of empowerment we can facilitate empowerment in patients and families (p.518). By giving up control and learning to collaborate with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare teem (HCT) we can learn mutual participation in healthcare (LaSala & Bjarnason, 2010, Creating workplace environments that support moral courage). Remember, the electronic medical record is making the patient and the family part of the HCT, and we want to treat them with the respect any team member deserves. This includes being able to listen attentively to whatever patients and families have to say, and reflect back to them your understanding, giving patients choices in small and large decisions, for example when they prefer to bathe, what foods do they prefer, and when to take medications. Stop the attitude that you know what is best for the patient. Make sure the HCT is aware of the patient’s wishes regarding healthcare and end of life decisions, and provide patients and families with any resources that would help in making these decisions. Also, we can facilitate patient and families with any help needed to use the EMR and how...

Unit 1 P3

...For this unit we have been looking at communication is all its vast ways. We have been studying the environmental factors and barriers that can occur in health and social care settings. For this task I have been asked to explain those factors that influence communication and interpersonal interactions in health and social care environments and to also look at the negative barriers to communication. Environmental Factors * Noise * Setting * Lighting * Seating * Space * Time Noise In a health and social care setting such as a Hospital, noise would be appropriate to drown out the sounds of private conversations. For example, if a receptionist was speaking to a patient about an issue regarding their health, they wouldn’t want their personal issues to be heard by other patients in the waiting area. Having background noise would be necessary for digression purposes. This in other words 'takes them out of the spotlight' and keeps the attention between their own conversations. This is a positive factor. A negative example would be the opposite, if a couple needed to get important information from the receptionist or any other professional in a sexual health clinic and cannot be heard by the background noise. This is if all the public waiting are speaking above a normal tone, in which case the couple couldn't hear correctly, they could miss vital bits of information or not get any at all. When being in public places, there should always be a moderate level...

Big Nurse Win

...The cookuo’s nest is a war between Mc and the big nurse, a war should have a winner and a loser, which is the topic we had talked about during the class last week. Although some of my classmates thought Mc won at last, I still had a point of view that the Big Nurse should be the winner. First of all, when the Big Nurse asks them to take medications, the patients will take them even they don’t want it. While Mc first take his medicine, he just find that patient try to avoid of taking those. And the second point, the Big Nurse try her hardest to create the fear among the patients, and in many ways decrease the influence of Mc. When Mc try to make all the patients vote for the baseball game, Big Nurse still use her power to let Mc fail but Mc can not find any excuse to refute her decision, the failure of the “uprising for the baseball game” let the patients thought that the Big Nurse had more power than Mc did. Some of the patients, just like Cheswake, influenced by Mc and talk against to Big Nurse because she keep his cigarette and make him crazy. What the big nurse do was just send him to the disturbed. After back from the disturbed, Cheswake suicide when he was having a shower. Another example, chief, the one who support Mc most, fight with the black boys for Mc, also be sent to the disturbed because of this. So it is not hard to found that the Big Nurse want every patient to know what they will have if they don’t follow the rule that the Big Nurse made and try to against her...

The Right Time to Lose a Patient

...The Right Time to Lose a Patient Although there is really never a right time to die or even witness death, it is important to acknowledge that death is a reality, and that all health care practitioners will be subjected to death at some point. For that reason, I raise the question; is there an appropriate time to lose a patient? From my perspective the answer is yes, and for good reason. Having recently finished twelve weeks of Internal Medicine, the first of my core third year rotations, I vividly remember the excitement I felt when walking into the hospital. I knew all the work I accomplished in the classroom was about to be put to good use. I had the opportunity to help interns, residents, and attendings to positively impact individuals’ lives. I would see patients with diseases that I had previously only encountered in textbooks, although I knew that these textbooks rarely highlight and explain the pain and suffering that accompany these pathologies. In fact, my studies to that point had left me with some naivete, which I must assume all medical students experience when first starting clinical work. We are excited to see cases we read about, although we often forget that many of these ailments take the lives of those afflicted. Throughout our education, we transform conditions into hypothetical situations, rarely developing an understanding of their severity. It is easy to regard a set of symptoms as fiction or case study, and it was only through experience that...

...Out of all the many roles a nurse has “educator” is probably one of the most important ones. Every day we educate our patients on various things even when we don’t realize it. It can also be one of the most difficult and frustrating things nurses do as well. We have all probably had a patient at one time or another that could care less. When you speak to them, they are looking at the TV or are completely disengaged. What can we do when we have a non-compliant patient? Health Belief Model is a tool to help patients make changes in a way that is comfortable for them. It suggests that a person’s belief in a personal threat of an illness together with a person’s belief in the effectiveness of the recommended health behavior will predict the likelihood the person will adopt the behavior. The patient’s actions depend on their understanding of the pros and cons to their health behavior. Effective non-biased communication with patients can lead to willingness as well as compliance. There are six major components of the Health Belief Model: 1) Perceived susceptibility – Is the health problem real? 2) Perceived severity – Pt will not act on health issue unless they have an understanding of how serious health condition is. 3) Perceived benefits – Patient believes that a cure is possible. 4) Perceived costs – Refers to complexity and duration of treatment. Can they afford it? 5) Motivation – Desire to comply 6) Self-efficacy – Patient’s confidence in his/her ability...

Case Study Oncoming Hospitalists

...I had the opportunity to stay on this patient’s care team despite the change in preceptors/hospitalists. Since I continued to stay on her care team, I became the source of information for the patient’s previous status, current condition, and future planned treatments for the oncoming hospitalists. However, due to a communication error, I relayed incorrect information to the hospitalist coming on service, leading to additional unnecessary hospital stay for the patient. Initially, the cardiologist had planned a right heart catheterization for the patient on Monday. He had a conversation with the admitting hospitalist about his plan. He told the hospitalist that after reading the patient’s echocardiography, he believed that the patient’s right ventricle was in bad shape and needed the catheterization. The hospitalist asked the cardiologist whether it would be better to defer the investigation to an institution with more resources since the patient would have to establish care with them anyway. The cardiologist responded by saying that he would be able to do the catheterization, but did not have time to do it until Monday. When the next hospitalist came on the service, he asked me if the patient was stable enough to be discharge. Relaying the cardiologist’s plan, I told the hospitalist that although she was stable, we were currently awaiting a right heart catheterization on Monday. During rounds the hospitalist mentioned the right heart catheterization to the patient; however, the...

Benefits of Patience

...Benefits of Patience Patience is necessary for Success. It is said that "all good things come to those who wait" If we wish to achieve anything of significance, we cannot expect to achieve it overnight. For example many of our great scientists have remarked how their scientific discoveries came only through patient perseverance. Einstein said Genius was 99% perspiration and only 1% inspiration. To achieve anything great in life we have to develop patience. "If I have ever made any valuable discoveries, it has been owing more to patient attention, than to any other talent." -- Sir Isaac Newton Patience teaches us to value the effort and not just the success. It is a mistake to think that happiness can only be attained through certain achievements. To get the most from life, we should value the preparation and effort, as much as the success or failure that may result. Patience means we learn to develop equanimity and to not be influenced by the ups and downs of life. Patience brings peace of mind. When we desire certain outcomes, then we will have no peace of mind. Even if one desire is filled, the nature of desire is that more will appear in its place. There is no end to human desire. Patience means that we can work with out expecting a certain outcome. Patience means we will work with an attitude of detachment. Trust Concept Analysis

...Trust: A Concept Analysis The term trust encompasses a wide array of meaning. It can be regarded both as a logical and an emotional act. Trust can be defined as having utter belief in the reliability, ability or truth of any person or thing; it is a state where the acceptance of truth even without evidence or investigations becomes possible (Oxford University Press, 2013). However, according to Merriam-Webster (2013) trust is defined as a guaranteed reliance on the strength, character or the character of any entity. Trust is an utterly important concept, even when considering it from the perspective of the nurse management. As mentioned earlier, trust has an element of emotion and logic in it. It is considered logical where a person perceives the potential gains or losses of putting their reliance on someone, calculating the possible satisfaction derived out of putting their trust into them and only after carefully analyzing all these aspects, then deciding whether or not to trust someone. However, it can be referred as emotional when any entity exposes themselves to others, hoping that rather than taking advantage of their situation, the others would tend to understand their situation and support them open heatedly. There are various dimensions to trust, some of which could be defined under the terms of predictability, delayed reciprocity, value exchange and exposed vulnerabilities. Human beings have a knack of forecasting for their future and in doing so, it is imperative...
