Writing a Grant Proposal Pg. 2

A human services grant proposal is a written presentation of a program plan. This plan has eleven different factors. They include an abstract, table of contents, specific aims/needs and problems assessment, target population, approaches and methods, long and short-term goals, process, outcome, and impact objectives, activity plans and scheduling, evaluation plan, agency capacity, and project management, and budget and budget justifications. By following the steps on writing a grant proposal, the writer is able to use that as a check off point to verify everything is written down pertaining to what funding agencies are looking for. The first part of a grant proposal is the abstract. This is a 45 line max summary of what the agency is about. The abstract section may be the shortest part of the proposal, but it is the most read, which makes it the most important of the whole proposal. With the abstract being the most important part of the whole proposal, it is vital that the writer be very vigilant and professional in writing out this portion. There are times that the person reading the proposal is not the main ones reviewing the proposal, so this part is mainly the only part that will been seen until it heads off to the final decision makers of the funding.

Writing a Grant Proposal Pg. 3

The next step to grant proposal writing is the table of contents. This step should be no more than 2 pages max. This portion is considered a map for the funding agency to follow the structure of the proposal, and a checklist for the writer to follow. The table of contents will list everything from the application of assistance...

...PEACE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AGENCY I have chosen to work with the program scenario three, Peace Domestic Violence Agency. Yuen/Terao (2003) states, “Program planning is an organized process through which a set of coordinated activities or interventions is developed to address and facilitate change in some or all of the identified problems.” “Program Evaluation is the application of different social research designs in assessing the needs and results of programs.” In short, Program Planning and Program Evaluation is the process of assessing needs, organizing an effective ways and means to meet the needs, examining the process throughout, making sure that the end result brings about a change for the affected population targeted. These components are related in that they both address the need of the identified problems and according to Yuen/Terao (2003) which quotes Mika, 1996, they are not separate as much as program planning and evaluation, when planned properly can be integrated into an organized set of ongoing operations that promote and support each other. The example of how program planning and evaluation interrelate in the PEACE Domestic Violence Agency scenario begins with the organizing of a plan that will promote the well-being of young men, women, and affected. The targeted population is defined, and the areas to be addressed are defined, but the plan of execution needs to be defined. The objectives speak of helping those affected by domestic violence and...

The purpose of the evaluation is so PEACE can either show means for improvement on provided program services or show means for eradicating the program service all together. The decision to eradicate a provided service or implement improvements is the primary purpose of the assessment. Alternative Funding

...such as PEACE Domestic Violence Agency, after receiving grants, may continue to struggle finding adequate funding options.. Grants are not always easily obtained and most donations are a one-time contribution. Discovering alternative methods for obtaining funding may take an ample amount of brainstorming for PEACE Domestic Violence Agency as grants will not cover the cost to effectively run the organization. Alternative funding methods are an excellent alternative. Examples of alternative funding options to explore include fundraisers, opening a thrift store, soliciting local businesses, selling commemorative bricks and/or benches, and holding special events in the community .Fundraisers may include bake sales and carwashes organized and conducted by the staff only to protect the identity of the victims. The agency can open a thrift store selling donated items and handmade crafts the victims will create within a therapy group and all the proceeds will benefit the organization. Special events can also be organized and can take place in the community. A talent search contest where the contestants pay an entry fee and the crowd will vote on the best performer. These events can also include information booths regarding domestic violence education and prevention and the specifics of what PEACE offers to victims and the community. ...Influences within Public Programs Paper Introduction There is a growing epidemic of domestic violence for women and their spouses or significant others that have been a debated issue for decades, one out of every ten women are reporting domestic violence incidents, from urban decay communities across the nation yearly. The minimalist versus maximalist theory’s has been the primary discussion for victimization in criminology where one perspective decides to look at more variations for the violence, and the other takes the crimes to the necessary degree to provide of government legislatures (NCVC, 2010). With today’s society modernized through time, Americans understand the existing problems of sexual exploitation and violence that is an ineluctable dilemma in society. Scenario Evaluation Plan

...HSM/270 Scenario Evaluation Plan The purpose of the PEACE Domestic Violence Agency is to promote a sense of security, support, and empowerment for individuals and families who are affected by domestic violence. To continue helping those who suffer from domestic abuse, the PEACE agency will develop an evaluation plan using a simple framework design. This agency wants to assess the work it is performing, and the reason for evaluation is it wants to know the effects its services have on people’s lives. The program wants to improve upon those efforts, but does not want to continue to exert time and resources into efforts which are not helpful. The evaluation plan the PEACE Domestic Violence Agency will use will be a project-wide evaluation using the empowerment approach. This form of evaluation plan will work perfectly with the agency’s domestic violence program because it concentrates on the purpose of the program and provides structure for the big picture. In addition, it involves program staff in the evaluation development and implementation, which enables them to feel empowered. The first step in developing this type of plan is to “identify the answer to the big question” (Yuen & Terao, 2003, p.53) which, in the case of the PEACE agency, is whether or not the incidents of domestic violence can be reduced and how. Another question could be whether or not educating people about domestic violence can play a key role in preventing it. This evaluation......

Stakeholders Influence on Programs

...Stakeholder Influences on Programs Paper Hannah Jones June 8, 2014 HSM/270 Christine Small Stakeholders can be defined as anyone that has an interest in or may be affected by a program and its efforts. Stakeholders can be broken up into three groups, primary, secondary and key stakeholders (Community Tool Box, 2013). Primary stakeholders are those who are directly affected by the organization and its efforts. These are represented as beneficiaries or targets of the efforts. Secondary stakeholders are those who indirectly affected by the organization and its efforts.” These might include individuals and organizations that live with, are close to, or care for the people in question, and those that offer services directly to them” (Community Tool Box, 2013).This is similar to third party type people that may have to assist in dealing with clients that are involved in a program. Key stakeholders are those who directly influence the program. This could be staff, managers, funder, government officials, ect (Community Tool Box, 2013). Stakeholder identification could also be broken up into five other categories of Clients, funders/authorizers, managers/enablers, producers/partners, and community (Johnson, 2011).
