CHAPTER 1 This chapter describes the historical and contextual background of the perception of the faculty members towards student’s evaluation, the statement of the problem, and the scope and limitation of the study.

1.1 HISTORICAL AND CONTEXTUAL BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM

The system of the universities changes depending upon the efficiency of the professors. The changes occurs to make sure that the students are receiving the best quality of education. The student’s evaluation will help the professors in determining on what to change in their way of teaching in order to increase the student’s achievement.

This research study will help us in determining the perception of the faculty members towards student’s evaluation. We will be able to know the positive and negative effect of the said evaluation to the professors. If the professors and administrators of the University of the East will work together, in able to enhance their performance, all of the student will benefit.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Student’s evaluations are used in order to develop the quality of the professors and the university. Our university offers strict evaluation tools to be able to identify the efficiency of the professors and the university through the gathered data from the students. The professors of the University of the East feared that the evaluation given might be biased. Causing them stress and fear on how the evaluation will impact their career. The perception of the professors towards student evaluation and the attitude of the professors could influence the result of the evaluation.
