Personal Responsibility

One of the challenges of being human is obstacles that people encounter in life. These can be big or small depending on the particular time in your life. At a young age you have goals set for you from your parents, role models you do not see these being a big goal but at that time they are. Once you get older you start challenging your mind and setting goals and every goal has some sort of challenge. Along with this come obstacles that you have to learn how to conquer. This can be family, money, job, outside influences and the list can go for days. When growing up all the goals that have been set for you and then the goals you set for yourself you have overcome the obstacles and started a foundation for life. This is when you learn how to take an obstacle and turn the obstacle in to a solution for the goal.
To overcome obstacle you have to learn how to block everything else going on and provide your full attention to the goal you are trying to achieve. Regardless who you are every person has an emotional side to them. A lot of people have emotional feelings towards something that they strongly believe in, at some points in life you have to learn how to cut all emotional ties off. When doing so this will help you provide your full attention to the solutions to achieve your goal. Now is where you learn your personal responsibility what matters to you as a person. “But personal responsibility also means that when individuals fail to meet expected standards, they do not look around for some factor outside themselves to blame” (Haskins, July 2009, Para.1). The only person that can change anything about you as a person will be yourself. Having flaws are something I consider beneficial to a person. When a person can acknowledge there flaws and learn how to use their flaws and accept them that is the first step to self-realization. As you grow and learn these things about yourself you will learn then push yourself to move forward. For moving and thinking beyond what you can see is when you will start making the unconscious decisions. At this point is when you will achieve some of the biggest challenges in your life.
Knowing yourself has many benefits: you know and acknowledge your responsibilities, how to use your flaws to embrace to overcome your obstacles, and to make unconscious decisions. A lot of people have many outside influences telling them what they should do with their lives, what kind of school to go to and how to manage everything along with life. As a person you have to learn to be happy and make your own responsibilities and not be cautious about what others think. No one knows what will make you happy and if you are not happy there is no way to overcome and achieve a goal. I have watched family members go through many obstacles and the outcome has never come to be beneficial to them. I feel that at the time they approached these obstacles they were never in the right state of mind to achieve what goal they were after. This is due to them not knowing their own personal responsibilities, how to overcome the emotional ties, learn how to embrace their flaws to achieve what the end result was. After acknowledging their mistakes helped me learn how to reevaluate how I would go about knowing my own personal responsibilities and learning to focus on how to achieving my goals.
Once a person is able to sort out what his or her obstacles are and how to achieve his or her goals, this is when the person will be able to take the step towards goal setting. Life is about stepping stones you cannot over step one stone and think you will be successful. As growing up and learning about yourself daily you then can make the decision towards finding a career and going to college to accomplish the career path he or she decided on. When a person knows his or her responsibility the person knows how to handle and manage the obstacles that could come in between accomplishing his or her college goal. When the person fully commits to a college goal towards a career, as a student it would be very helpful to have mentors. When a person is able to relate to someone else that has went through the same process it will help the person be able to get through the difficult times. Number one key to success is committing to that goal, the second thing to get closer to accomplishing the goal is to communicate with others, and the third is to not lose focus. If a person is able to do the three things above this will help anyone achieve his or her goal and be a successful college student. Nemeth stated that “Success is doing what you said you would do, consistently, with clarity, focus, ease and grace” (Smith, n.d., Para. 10).
There will never be a number of how many obstacles you will have to go through in life but it is the amount of obstacles that you go through to learn and achieve your goal. With life there will be many things that will try and stop you from reaching the goal but it is the matter of knowing your personal responsibility. First to learn how to cut off the emotional ties and blocking everything out, knowing your flaws and to embrace them, and let your unconscious decisions take place for achieving the goal. Once a person is able to recognize his or her personal responsibilities they then can take the step in becoming a successful college student. A wrong in life is a step closer to learning who you are and how to think beyond what you see. Never look down on what you have done in life or what others have done, use this as a learning experience. Everything that you do in life teaches you a responsibility, it is how you take the obstacle that you are presented find a solution and then achieve the goal you want to achieve.

...Personal responsibility includes being responsible for your own actions and well-being. In relation to social roles each person has their own way of doing things while living their own life. The concept is similar for businesses and organizations that work to provide opportunities for others. They have a responsibility in providing products, goods, and services that are fair while serving a purpose. In either scenario, consequences are suffered when failing to do what is right. In many cases, when you neglect to be responsible, others may be affected in ways you may not have anticipated. Responsibility is something most people are taught from an early age. As you get older you take what you learn and use it to your advantage to help you sustain a healthy way of living. This includes taking care of yourself from the inside out while managing emotions and other needs. Sometimes a consequence suffered from a previous event can make it more difficult for an individual to assume personal responsibility on a social scale. Keeping a sound mind and treating others with respect are things you continue to do throughout your life. When you do something wrong a consequence will follow as this is a part of human nature. But, there are actions that can be avoided yet people will do them anyway knowing potential consequences. For instance, youth are taught to stay away from drugs and illegal substances because they can harm the body and even lead to death. Unfortunately, youth are taught...

People hold responsibility towards their work, family, pets and neighbors. Lastly, responsibility can consist of moral, legal, mental or physical obligations. Yoshinos New Civil Rights: Possible?

...your ears and close your mouth. That is the golden idea. Everyone has the right to openly voice his or her opinion and thoughts but sometimes that is not what the world needs. Sometimes in order to achieve global change, stepping back, looking through all the bullshit and absorbing other cultures, ideas, and opinions is the best thing. Look through each persons culture, religion, and political position and just focus on his or her human right; the rights that each person in the world is born with regardless of his or her background. Perceiving individuals as humans who deserve rights that protect them from persecution and judgment is the only way to achieve the evolution of the “new” civil rights. Although majority of people believe it is impossible for every individual in the world to be equal the truth is that that is the only way the “new” civil rights are going to evolve because in order to achieve this everyone needs to drop the covers they put up and just listen. Achieving the evolution of the “new” civil rights is a mutual responsibility and in order to do so finding common ground is essential. In this mutual responsibility, it is society’s job to ensure that lawmakers realize the problems and then demand change. “The real solution lies in all of us citizens, not in the tiny subset of us who are lawyers.” (Yoshino 487) Lawmakers are there for society and unless society voices a concern or demand for these “new” civil rights nothing is going to happen. In order to give society...

People always want to blame other circumstances versus looking at if they had any part to play in the situation. When a person takes responsibility, they become empowered and develop into better individuals. Personal Responsibility is when an individual takes responsibility for their action and / or decisions. When I have taken responsibility and taken ownership of the outcomes whether it is good or bad, has high value. Now this is how I have learned so to me personal responsibility means learning something new. The world is a cold place and not everyone take responsibility, let alone accountability. How Negotiators Can Assess and Successfully Challenge a Suicidal Person

...How Negotiators Can Assess and Successfully Challenge a Suicidal Person Deborah Kennedy CJ407-01: Crisis Negotiation Professor Gregory Cheaure Kaplan University August 3, 2012 This essay is going to explain how negotiators can assess a suicidal person and successfully challenge that person’s belief. When a negotiator gets called out to an incident it is their job to determine the subject’s state of mind. The negotiator must look for verbal cues if he/she cannot see the subject to get a look at their body language. Then there are other visual things the negotiator looks for if the subject is visible. One type of person that a negotiator must be very aware and concerned with is someone who may be suicidal. Some of the cues a negotiator can look for if the subject is visible can be found in the subject’s physical appearance. The subject might look like they have not showered in days, they might look like they have slept in their clothes, messy hair, or they just might look all disheveled. Their living quarters might look quite messy also with dirty dishes all over or empty soda cans lying around which normally would not be typical. In speaking with the subject their voice might be soft and they may have a flat affect. They may sound depressed. They may have very slow speech. When the negotiator begins to build trust and a dialogue with the subject asking the right questions will also help find out what the subject is thinking. The negotiator may need to allow the...

Communication

...Abstract For the most part, groups or teams work together to achieve a common goal. When deciding on a group, there are things to take into consideration in order to achieve success. First, acknowledge the diversity in group members. Second, identify each individual’s learning and personality styles. Third, discuss strategies to communication and collaboration in order to eliminate conflict. Using a self-assessment tool can assist people in determining their specific style. By communicating in a collaborative manner each person can contribute knowledge and experience to their team. For some people they may use different styles depending on the circumstances given. Personal Responsibility

...Personal responsibility Name Institution Introduction Personal responsibility, by definition, is the aspect that people choose, instigate, or otherwise cause their own actions. A corollary idea to the above is that because we cause our actions, we can be held morally accountable or legally liable. Personal responsibility can be contrasted to the idea that people’s actions are caused by conditions beyond the agent’s control. Personal responsibility is associated with social power which resides in every individual. Just as a person puts personal responsibility on political behavior, so must you assume personal responsibility for social behavior. You think negatively of legislator Stower not because he has violated a tenet of the Tax Reform Society to which you belong, but because his voting for a tax levy is in your own estimation an act of robbery. Actually all values are personal. In a spiritual sense that by which an individual gives birth is the formative striving of the will and that is within a person’s own power. After all, one is not supposed to give birth to another human being; one is supposed to give birth to themselves. Freedom brings men rudely and directly face to face with their own personal responsibility for their own free actions (Meyer, 1962). Moreover, what makes us one nation morally is an insistence on a set of values capacious...
