Personal Application Assignment

Introduction Early in 2004, the company I work for implemented a new computer system in order to become fully integrated into the system used by our parent company. As a result, our entire organization went through a process of tremendous change. Virtually every function had to be performed differently in the new operating environment. Two of the most significant changes that took place were that both the customer service and production scheduling functions started being performed by personnel at the corporate office instead of being performed by local site personnel. While it was difficult enough for the production workers to operate the new system in order to be able to produce finished product, there was sudden chaos surrounding the order processing and production planning functions. As a result, the production department was getting further and further behind and our customers were quickly losing patience with our inability to supply them product when needed. In an effort to address the worsening situation with our customers, our company president constructed a letter to our customers outlining new “business rules” that would have to be adhered to while our company worked through the process of this change. He asked me and two other members of senior management to meet in his office to discuss the contents of the letter before having it mailed to our customers. In the following pages, I will discuss the meeting that took place and will relate it to both the game theory of power and politics and Richard Emerson’s power-dependence theory of social power as are outlined in our textbook, Organization Development (French & Bell, 1999).
Concrete Experience The meeting took place with all members of the company’s business board present: the president, the operations...

Fullbright Essay

...The Fulbright Essays Two essays are required: The Personal Statement and the Study/Research Proposal. These essays serve very different but complementary purposes. Unless noted, the following information comes straight from the Fulbright Web site. THE PERSONAL STATEMENT (1 Page) The following information is applicable to both Study/Research and ETA applicants: The Personal Statement should be a narrative giving a picture of you as an individual.  Remember, applicants are not interviewed on the national level. The Personal Statement is your opportunity to “talk” about yourself and to tell the committee more about how you came to this point in your life and where you see yourself in the future.  There is no single “right way” to approach the Statement; rather candidates will consider what they think is important for people reviewing the application to know about them. The Statement can deal with your personal history, family background, influences on your intellectual development, the educational and cultural opportunities (or lack of them) to which you have been exposed, and the ways in which these experiences have affected you.  Also, you may include your special interests and abilities, career plans, and life goals, etc. It should not be a recording of facts already listed on the application or an elaboration of your Statement of Grant Purpose.   It is more of an autobiography, and specifically related to you and your aspirations. Adhere to the following......

Modular programming. Knowledge gained through learning can be forgotten if concepts are not reviewed on a regular basis. It is possible to design an application to record high economic value learning tasks and insights that will allow for periodic review. This application will help solve the issue of knowledge being forgotten by allowing the information and concepts to be kept in front of the individual for regular review. The application that must be programmed will be a simple user friendly app that will allow the user to see and record progress over a given class which will give the user the ability to not only see what has been done but to have it brought back to the forefront of what they already went over in course assignments, reading and researches for a particular class.
