My Personal Classroom Management Plan

Introduction

As a teacher I want the best learning experience for each and every student in my

Class. Unfortunately each student has control over themselves and how they choose to

learn. I will assist my students in expanding their learning beyond what they presently

know. I will also dress in an appropriate manner; I do not want my students to think I am

their friend because I dress the way they do, I feel that is very inappropriate. To get respect I need to earn the respect.

First Day Of School, Class Routine and Expectation of Students It is important to let my students know who I am and a little about myself. I will go over the classroom rules as well as the schools rules and what is expected of them. In the beginning students will be allowed to pick their own desk. Each desk will have a desk name plate and a sharpie will be passed around so they can place their names at the spot they have chosen to be their seat for the school year unless changes have to made by me throughout the school year. We will also wear nametags and play a few games to introduce ourselves and to get comfortable in our class with each other. I am not collecting pencils and etc. those things are to be kept inside of the children’s desk so they have access to what they need. The only things I will collect are baby wipes, paper towels, Ziploc bags and sharpies. In he classroom I will have large colored file folders labeled math, science, and etc. so the students can turn in their homework assignments. There will also be a copy of our class schedule, classroom duties, an art wall and etc. The desk will be pre-arranged before class begins by me the way I would like them to be set up. We will discuss our daily routine and what is to be completed on a daily basis. For example: as students enter the classroom from breakfast, bus or car riders they are expected to go to their seats and began their DOL that I will already have set up on the overhead. They will have five DOL sentences and will be given 15 minutes to complete this morning assignment. They are expected to come in without being told constantly what to do, take out their supplies and began their work. They are also expected to place their homework assignments in the appropriate folders. After these things are completed it should be time for the morning announcements, moment of silence, pledge of allegiance and morning roll call. Then the rest of our daily schedule continues. The children will have their normal classes along with the specials they chose at the end of the previous school year. While the children are at specials that will give me time to have lunch and for teacher planning. At lunchtime I escort the students to the cafeteria. Parents are allowed to have lunch with their child as long as they have an approved volunteer form on file. At the end of the day we will review what we have learned that day and each student will be able to share what the best part of their day was. The students will also have to make sure there daily duties are complete by the end of the day. The students duties will be posted in the classroom and will change the following Monday.

Class Rules

I have decided to do something differently when it comes to making rules. I am going
To sit with my students and have them to assist me in setting rules for our class. They know right from wrong and would enjoy being allowed to take part in decision-making. That will give the students a feel of empowerment by having a say in the classroom rules. I’m hoping this will help motivate the students to follow the rules that they helped to create. I feel it would be harder for them to break their own rules than it would be to break rules that I make. We will review the classroom rules and they will understand that these rules been set for safety. I feel like it is important to review the rules and explain why we have rules and explain the reason why we have rules and how they benefit us. After setting the class rules we will make sure our rules are in accordance with the schools expectations. I will at this point explain my personal expectations. I respect all my students and heir individuality because this is what helps the other students out by sharing their own ideas and experiences to our class. I am asking they respect each other by not hurting anyone, and by treating others the way they would like to be treated. I plan on writing a behavior agreement that will be signed by the student and parent.
This agreement will talk about how we want to be treated and how in return we plan on treating others. Once we are all in aggreance the students will sign it in class and will be required to take it home, have it read by their parent and if their parent agrees get a signature and return the agreements to me. We will discuss our class schedule and requirements on passing in homework, in class assignments, quizzes and etc. I will like to find out how my students learn best and utilize that. We will discuss turning in homework assignments and how they will be graded. I will also explain what will happen when they turn in assignments late. I will let them know what type of reward they will receive for hard work such as ice-cream sundae parties, homework passes, extra playtime and etc. I will also discuss what would happen if they did not follow the behavior agreement such as loss of free time, etc. If they have a constant problem with behavior then there are several things that can happen. My first step will be a warning to the student. After that warning if this behavior continues I will send a letter to their parents to see how we can resolve this issue by working together by conference or etc. If this still does not work then the child will receive a referral to the office that could result in lunch detail, in school suspension or out of school suspension depending on how bad the behavior is. It is a teacher’s choice to offer tutoring to the students that struggle. I will be available at no on Mondays and Wednesdays to tutor the children who are struggling. I am not a babysitting service and will doing this on my own time so the parents are expected to pick their child up on time. After three times being late I will have to let that child go and give the spot to someone else. On Fridays a behavioral report and new set of spelling words along with graded assignments will go home. The behavioral report needs to be signed and returned. This lets me know that a parent has looked at the papers. I also have a comments spot for any parent questions or concerns. It is my goal to have parent involvement in their children’s learning experience. Due to funding we will not have a lot of field trips but I do have field trips planned. The field trips will be educational but fun. Hands on are a great learning experience I believe. I will only be allowed two parent chaperones and each chaperone must have an approved chaperon list on file. If a child receives a discipline before the field trip they will not be able to attend. This is a privilege and I will not award misbehavior. No siblings will be allowed on the field trips for safety reasons and due to seating on the buses. If a student is not in uniform they will be sent to the office and if available will have to put on the donated uniforms we have available and be sent home with a dress code warning. We are a uniform school and that must be followed. My goal is to have my students recognize that I not only view them as individuals but decision-makers. My students are able to make the choice on how they will act and how they want to be treated. If I see the children are having trouble following the rules then we will have to discuss and try a different plan that will work for our class. Everyone makes mistakes, but have a chance to do better.
