Personal Ethics Statement
The standard of ethics I choose to live my life by is right from wrong. From a very small age, I can remember my parents always telling me “you know right from wrong and you need to choose to do right.” I always try to base my decisions in life around that saying. I have come to realize that decisions in life are not always black and white, but I try to follow my instinct and stick by it.
Through the Ethical Lens Inventory I learned that my preferred lens is Results and Reputation Lens. My blind spot is I tend to set unrealistic role expectations. I plan goals and tasks out in my head and when they don’t unfold the way I had perceived them too, I become disappointed with myself or others. I have acknowledged that, and it is something I am working on by trying not to over analyze everything and let life unfold the way it is going to unfold. My strengths are my ability to analyze problems, compassion, free will, and experience. When I do something, whether it is meeting new people, taking a new class, starting a job, or taking a hike, I always plan for the occasion and prepare myself for several outcomes and strive to obtain the outcome I desire. I find that taking the time to prepare myself I stay motivated and determined to succeed. My weaknesses are that I don’t always take the time to reflect on situations and don’t always ensure that my heart and head agree with the decisions I make. Going forward, I will take more time to reflect prior to coming to a decision and not put so much pressure on myself to control the outcome that I plan for. I have taken a great deal of knowledge from the assignment. It has made me reflect inward, and I understand that I set to high of standards for certain outcomes.
In conclusion, I will continue to handle every situation in my life with integrity, respect, a positive attitude, trust, confidence, and always choosing right from wrong.

...Personal Ethics Statement Santana Ludos GEN/195 August 27, 2012 Paul Hamel Personal Ethics Statement People’s morals, values, beliefs and even ethics are a part of everyday life. Ethics are how we actually do behave in the face of difficult situations that test our moral compass; developing our personal character. Knowing what is important to me helps me make decisions that are truest to my priorities or ethics as you would say. The choices we make should be driven by our own beliefs not influenced by someone else. Ethical Lens Inventory After reviewing my personal Ethical Lens Inventory, it proved me right. The Ethical Lens Inventory stated that my personal preferred lens is nothing, which is right. It stated that I use my reasoning skills to determine my duties, as well as rules and the systems that will assure fairness and justice for everyone. Also the definition of ethical behavior in this inventory explained I define an ethical person as one who does the right thing, said I hold this high a standard for myself, but do not judge others who fall short, and that’s not wrong. Values and Behaviors I always assumed my ethical viewpoint is that everything should be fair. In the lens inventory I learned that one of my weaknesses is that I trust too much; I have too much justice for people. I usually forget that not everyone deserves equal access as much as I would like everyone to have that no everyone deserves that. I found out that one of my strengths is that since...

...Personal Ethics Statement Margot Rivera HCS 478 Health Law and Ethics November 26, 2012 Barbara Scheibe Personal Ethics Statement The values that I find significant influences and foundations for my life are honesty, reliability, and respectability. I express these values both professionally and personally by living straightforward, truthful, and keeping promises to family and friends. Values were emphasized and taught to me early in my childhood by a male dominant, Catholic, Hispanic family. My father was a self-educated man who worked diligently to acquire the few comforts he could afford my family. Supporting a large family of seven children made it impossible to be extravagant or irresponsible with finances or in personality. Watching my parents struggle to support the family and working together as a team educated me in the ways of accomplishing goals with good communication, teamwork, and creativity to benefit the entire family. I sought to keep those values in my relationships with friends, coworkers, and family as I grew up and found that I could accomplish more and receive more personal satisfaction when I kept true to my word and commitments. Each definition of personal ethics is different depending on who you ask; however, I see personal ethics as steadfast rules or beliefs that guide each person in decision-making and what defines a personality. During the many years I have worked in the emergency room, I have encountered many situations that left me...

...Personal Ethics Statement Final Project My Personal Ethics Statement: It is my belief that being aware of and sensitive to the needs of an individual creates the greatest good for all involved. An individual is just that … an individual with ideas, points of view and beliefs individualized by one person. When the individual is recognized within a group, then the group is completed by its individual perspectives. It’s easy to overlook the needs of others when I only think of myself and not the group. It’s easier to be selfish and only think of what I want and need; from my singular perspective my opinions are the only ones that matter. But when I act with enlighten self-interest and apply forethought to any given situation, I have found that I am able to see the situation more clearly. Taking into account how others view the same situation allows me to see other perspectives and therefore other solutions. I am able to see that my point of view is just as important as anyone else’s, but so is theirs. I am able to empathize more freely and my ego is kept in balance with the situation. Because of this empathy and balance, I feel that many situations can be resolved with positive and productive efforts simply by listening and consciously attempting to see the situation from another point of view. Understanding that other people have the same desire to be heard and understood is what open communication is all about. Lack of forethought to the consequences of not considering...

...Personal Ethics Statement What does living ethically mean to me? When I think of my answer to this question, two words come to mind immediately; integrity and honesty. Those two are followed quickly by fairness, respect and responsibility. These five words make up my core values and by parallel my personal ethics. Words I do my best to represent and live up to each and every day. Responsibility - Who am I? I am a daughter, sister, niece, aunt, friend, associate and leader. Within my family roles, I feel I have an obligation to be there for my family and set an example for my nieces and nephews. Helping them grow into the best people they can be by sharing my beliefs and principles with them. At work, I have accountability to my employer to keep the enterprise’s best interest in mind with each decision I make with regard to access to our data and functions within the systems. Fairness - I grew up in a family where fairness was a very important value. There were five children in our family and while sometimes one of us would have an opportunity to do or have something, there was always a turn in the future for another sibling. Within my work life, my sense of fairness can sometimes negatively affect me. I feel you need to give 110% to your employer and have an obligation to complete things on time. There have been times where I have worked with others that do not have the same work ethic. While not the right thing to do in my mind, I need to be careful not to be resentful...

Obtaining, identifying, and utilizing honest ethical behavior is a key component to academic and personal success. Knowing how to apply your ethical behavior to situations, academic or personal will aid an individual to manage a successful life. The true need for sound ethical behavior is the cornerstone to the foundation of a person’s character. Character is ethical behavior combined with choices and that is what defines us as individuals. Personal Ethics Statement

...Personal Ethics Statement HCS/478 June 12, 2012 Personal Ethics Statement Ethics is defined as the standards of behavior developed as a result of one’s concept of right and wrong (Judson & Harrison, 2010 p.9). As I reflect on my up-bringing, I remember my parents teaching me the differences between what is right and wrong. As a result of this learning experience, I discovered my conscious, my inner self that tells me I have done something wrong or right. This feeling comes in the form of a nagging voice that tells you things are not as they should be and it does not get better until you make changes. As a child, my grandparents owned a pastry shop and wood yard. My grandmother made cakes, pies, bread, pastries and sold other items in their store. I learned at an early age not to bother things that did not belong to me after eating the profit from the store. I would be place on restriction or some form of corporal punishment, depending on the severity of my infraction of the rules. My family were firm believers in “Spare the Rod, Spoil the child” (Proverbs 13:24, KJB). I was raised by both my parents and paternal grandparents. As a child, I witnessed my grandparents taking care of family members during illness and end of life times. When my grandparents were in their golden years, my parents took care of them. This caring gift did not only extend to the family, they took in a neighbor when his family could not care for him until it became too...

Personal Ethics Statement

...Personal Ethics Statement Ethics refers to a code or moral system providing criteria for how an individual distinguishes the differences between right and wrong. In many instances, we are faced with ethical dilemmas, forcing us as individuals to evaluate and determine what we perceive to be ethical. Often, ethical dilemmas are recognized easily and it is simple to resolve. They are laid out in black and white and the answer is either right or wrong. Unfortunately, sometimes the clarity of what is right and what is wrong is not as simple but is blurred with no clear distinction. In these cases, individuals must use their own ethical codes and make decisions based on their judgment of the situation. Through classroom experience, I had the opportunity to explore the ethical lens category that I fall into based on the Ethical Lens Inventory. I have also had the chance to study how professionals are expected to make ethical decisions and the difference between individual morals and the standards that various companies set forth as their code of conduct. Throughout this, I have been able to determine what I should continue doing while making ethical decisions and what I should strengthen. Through reflection, I have determined my own personal ethics statement which entails how I hope to live my life and how I will work to make decisions when faced with ethical dilemmas. The Ethical Lens Inventory places you into one of the four ethical lenses (four primary ethical perspectives)...

Personal Ethic Statement

...Personal Ethic Statement This activity was put in place to determine the strengths and weaknesses of an individual. Each individual found out their core values and which aspects of life seem sensible to them and which proved to be a challenge. With this activity, I learned a few interesting facts about myself while other things did not surprise me. The activity showed a balance in both reasoning and intuition skills. With reasoning, I tend to think about situations in a rational way. I weigh the pros and cons before I make a conscious decision. I am less harsh on myself in a situation because I am a rational thinker, although there are times I may get a little stressed. Often times I sit back and analyze the situation before making a decision or giving advice to an individual. As far as personal intuition is concerned, I am pretty sensible. Intuition leans towards a person’s ability to “listen” to the subconscious language and advice of the soul and of the universe. Often times this intuition can be simply explained as a “feeling” we get when making a decision or facing a challenging task at hand. My intuition was identified as being sensible. Then there are times when people make decisions that do not seem logical. I try to think things through the end. My decisions prove to be end with less desirable results. When I listen to my sensible intuition, I am always duly rewarded both mentally and physically. I am able to fulfill my duties based on my sensible and rational thinking...

Personal Ethics Statement

...Personal Ethics Statement At the beginning of this class I did’nt know of it’s true meaning, but now after just four weeks of me this class I have learned exactly what personal ethics is. Personal ethics is the way in which you percieve things, in other words it’s what makes you uniqe. I’m a very responsible person. Since I was 11 years old my grandfather had me working. That gave me a head stard on becoming more responsible. I consider myself a very mentally strong person. I’ve been through a lot in my 39 years of life. I also consider my self a very helpful person. I always try to find a way to help others, but at the same time when I do that I always make sure that treat others I wish to be treated. I always make sure that if some one needs I don’t get taken advantage of. Most of the people I I find myself helping are not family members. The “Ethical Lenses” I preferred to use the most is the “Responsibilities”. One of my weaknesses is that it’s hard for me to concentrate and focus on what I’m doing. I’m the type of person that pay close attention to the actions of others and how they treat people. In the school and work environment I have noticed that some students don’nt want to be a team player. It’s hard to work with people like that, I hope that when others think about me they are confident that if they need help of any sort that I’m there. I also want others to know that I’m trust worthy and reliable. Conclusion I found that the ethical lense is a very effective...

Personal Ethics Statement

...Personal Ethics Statement There are many ethical viewpoints out there out today, an example can be of the viewpoint of on how the elderly and disable should be treated. I have first hand seen the bad treatment on the elderly and the disable. Some people view them as being weak, and almost useless. This is wrong to have this type of view just because they can't get around like they use to, or see things the way the we ( young adults and youth) see things, don't mean they are any different than we are. But it seem that people don't care. For an example, when I am looking for a parking space I tend to park further away so that the elderly and the disable can have a closer park for themselves. This is what I do, do others do this, I don't know. It really don't seems like no one care if the ones who need a close park or need to park in the handicap should park there. In fact, I see people park in the handicap and look like they either don't need a handicap park, or look like they just took they park even though its not their handicap sticker. This is just one example of ethical viewpoint. When I first saw that I had to write about my blind spots I have, I had to sit and think because I didn't know. As I was thinking, I was that my blind spot was somewhat obvious to myself, I don't like asking for help. I would rather fail an assignment them ask for help. I really need to be more open to get help when I need it, then not being able to succeed I what I need help with. I...
