Personal Mission Statement
Section One: My Role in My Education
At this moment in time, I have recently completed my first session at DeVry University towards my Health Information Technology degree. In five years from now, I will hope to have completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and have some great experience working from home performing Medical Billing and Coding. I would also like to be moving towards pursing my CPA license. Using both educational degrees, I hope to be successful in both the office and at home as well as inspiring others to further educate themselves.
Life would be uneventful if it ran perfectly without a few hurdles to jump here and there along the way. Time and money management are two very important factors to being successful and are also two subjects that happen to be budgeted very tightly. At this time, I am working full time at a lower rate of pay, leaving my bi-weekly income still low along with less time for school. With this type of schedule, I normally have two days off a week and my evening/nights available for school work, house chores, dinner, shopping, and any other errands or extracurricular activities. Should my time not be managed correctly, some of my weekly activities may get missed causing them to build up upon one another leading to stress. When I begin to stress and worry about things not getting completed, some tasks don’t get my all or completed to its fullest trying to work on everything all at once. Doing so could show a slack in my job performance, my grades at school, and even the cleanliness of my home. Therefore I work hard at managing my time well to allocate enough time for all tasks that need to be completed each week.
Working full time also brings another possible hurdle with my financing. Performing more hours a week at my job could potentially cause me to lose some of my funding towards school leaving more for me to pay out of pocket. As my budget is already stretched tightly, I am hoping this doesn’t happen, leaving me to have to find other ways to fund my schooling. However, if it comes down to it, I will find a way so I can reach my degree!
The third hurdle I may have to face some point in time is losing my roommate who I share half of the household expenses with. If my roommate were to move out of our home we share together, I would be faced with adjusting my budget to the necessities rather than having all the luxuries. My budget would no longer allow little shopping trips, cable television, pleasure activities, or the extra gas money for those activities. School at this point however is a necessity and I would continue to find a way to fund school so I can move on and up in my career each week reaching closer to my degree.
Section Two: Problem Solving for Success
Step 1: Research and Define the Problem Using Present State and Desired State
Currently I am working full time with and very tight budget and receiving funding for the majority of my school each session. The first session, a small amount had to come out of pocket which I was able to cover over the first fall session. However, next year with my full time job, if my funding was to be cut, I don’t have a savings to help cover any cost if need be.
Step 2: Determine the Causes of the Problem * What- I have a tight budget leaving little or no room for extra expenses. I rely on the help of my roommate for household expenses and or anything extra that may arise. * Why- I used my savings this past year when I was out of work to cover my bills until I had an income again. I have yet to replenish my savings. * Who- I depend on my roommate to help with half of all the household expenses. My tightly stretched budget is also a problem because I have nothing left over for my savings. * Where- Some household expenses or leisure activities are wants rather than needs. This money could be better used towards other things such as my savings or bills. * When- The beginning of the year I was out of work, but I still had many bills to continue to pay each month which cause me to use my savings along with some bills being paid late. * How much- 100% of my paycheck every two weeks goes towards expenses leaving nothing to put back into my savings.
Step 3: Generate Solutions by Brainstorming
To help solve my problem at hand, I have thought of a few solutions: 1. Consider another roommate to help assist each of us with the expenses. 2. Find a better paying job that might offer some overtime hours. 3. Find a less expensive home for my roommate and myself to live in.
If unexpected challenges were to arise and I couldn’t financially cover them, I always have my supportive family to fall back on. Both my father and grandmother would be more than happy to assist me wherever I may need it so I can continue my education. They stand beside me and want me to complete my HIT degree almost just as much as I want to myself.
The information I have learned in this class allows me to fully think through the situation to the best of my ability to come up with the best possible solution. This class as taught me to examine each problem to its entirety, looking at it from many different aspects to come up with many different possible solutions. After examining all solutions I can best choose the correct one as well as leaving me with some back up options if the first one were to fall through.
Step 4: Decide on the Best Solution
The best solution at this time would be to consider a third roommate. Our current home has plenty of room for a third person and would be beneficial for both my roommate’s and my own expenses. Lowering our household expenses leaves me with money left in my budget to put into my savings account each pay week to being replenishment. Also, I will still have time for my school work and other activities choosing this solution.
The other possible solutions could possibly take up what open time I have available for my schooling and other activities such as my house chores and leisure activities.
Step 5: Implement the Solution
Both my roommate and myself would them start looking for our third roommate to join our home. I would then talk to my friends and co-workers to acquire if anyone of them or someone they knew were looking for a place to live. When we then found someone, we would adjust our budget to accommodate the three of us and then put my extra money into my savings account. After a little time, I should have enough money saved for any unexpected expenses or school funding should it change.
Step 6: Each month I will review my bank statements to ensure my total balance of my savings was increasing. I will also monitor my online banking and transfer the extra money to my savings after my bills are paid.
Section Three: Your Role in Leadership
On my team project, I believe I was encouraging to my team members, productive, and a motivator. I felt that with a lot of our meetings I was one who started us into our project. Team members were often appraised for their good work and ideas put forth. I do feel that I was a little slack on reviewing every team members post to its fullest ability.
In five years from now, I would like to see myself as a CPA with my own business and others working around me. As all business owners would, I would like to have a successful business and a well liked one come tax season. I would like to be an idol for some and have people enjoy working with/or around me each and every day.
Section Four: Personal Mission Statement
I am a determined, devoted, strong willed individual who does not give up on anything I start. I have begun furthering my education with DeVry University and will not stop until I have reached my long term career goals! I will drive myself to settle for no less than what I have dreamt to be. At any time should I feel anything less than proud or good about my educational plan, I will lean to those in my support system to boost me back up again. Along my journey, I hope to touch others who have reached out and touched me.

I’m Rogiena Joy Clavel the only daughter of Rogelio and Norina Clavel. I have 5 brothers and I’m second to the eldest. I grew up that all the things I want is I can get. Maybe one of the reason is I’m the first granddaughter in my mother side and I’m the only girl in our family. They all treat me like a baby until now mostly my uncle. I graduated high school in Jose Rizal Institute (Orion). First I took up Nursing in BPSU but I wasn’t able to finish that course so I decided to change school and course. Now, I currently enroll in Tomas Del Rosario College taking up BEED and now I’m in 3rd year. I can’t live without my family. They give me strength in times that I feel weak. The love of my family is priceless. They not going to live you no matter how hard the situation is. They are less than a lover but more than a friend. No place like home. The only place that you feel safe and loved. Even sometimes we have an argument but my parents don’t let the day past to fix that. The bond that links us is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof. Someday I will become a teacher. A teacher that will become a role model to her students. A teacher that will makes her parent’s proud. A teacher that will make her parents dream come true. A teacher that...

This mission drives me through each milestone of life, onward to the lifetime goal of hearing my God say, “well done, you have been a good and faithful servant”. My focus, direction, purpose, motivation, decisions, and every breath I take is for His purpose. Many of my days are as I described above. Some are not, some days I struggle to hold on to joy and peace. To fulfill this mission, I live by many principles. Below are the top five. 1 I recognize that I cannot please a God I do not know; I must understand His nature and His ways in order to acknowledge Him in all my ways and receive His direction for my life. • I make it a point to rise up early and pray (talk) to God. Communication is essential for any relationship to be successful. Communication is two-way, after I talk to God; I listen to His voice by reading and meditating on His word to see in what way I am being instructed. Effective communication with God leads to better relationship with my husband, children and my neighbors (everyone else). • Right communication and right relationship leads to right counsel in all decision-making processes. Marriage, Money, children, religion, investments, giving respect and etc… 2 I love God, people and myself. I recognize that God loves everyone. In Business, a Mission Statement Defines What an Organization Is, Why It Exists and the Reason for Being. What Are the Benefits of Having a Highly Defined Mission Statement? Explain Why It Is Important for a Company to Define Its Values Explicitly.

...In business, a mission statement defines what an organization is, why it exists and the reason for being. What are the benefits of having a highly defined mission statement? Explain why it is important for a company to define its values explicitly. Mission statements, a formal summary of the vision, objectives and values of a company, have become increasingly popular around the world. With the correct formulation and implementation, a mission statement can create clear vision of a company's main objectives. This can facilitate strategic direction of how a company moves from its present situation to its desired position. (Mirvis, Googins & Kinnicutt, 2010) Effective mission statements also have the ability to engage employees, and evoke an emotional response. With the right leaders, this response can be used as a tool to guide the behaviour of employees. (Campbell, 1997) "Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare", as this Japanese proverb suggests, mission statements can only be seen as a beneficial tool if the actions of a business complement its vision. Whilst mission statements are prominent in the corporate world, there is much debate about the process involved, and what one is to entail specifically. Collis and Rukstad (2008)(as cited in Khalifa, 2011) define the mission statement as "the underlying motivation for being in business in the first place." Based on this definition, the purpose of a mission statement is to identify the...
