My brag page now… there’s so much to brag about, where do I start. I’m just kidding, but I have gotten some award over the years. For track I have some shuddle hurdle relay and 100m hurdle hurdles ribbons acquired from track meets over the past year that I am pretty proud of. I have a certificate from the Math Bee in fifth grade. Over the past few years I have gotten many honor band certificates, from multiple different honor bands. I also have gotten the Presidential fitness awards from school for getting outstanding in almost all of the events. I also have a championship medal that I have from baseball from 3 years ago. I have gotten a lot of awards, but none of them are that flashy and amazing.
I do have a few talents too. First, sports. …show more content…
One time my dad wanted me to play the drum set for a church thing, so I practiced a lot, and became pretty good at it. Another thing was when I was in trapshooting and I was really bad and usually ended up with score between 20 and 25 out of 50. After a lot of practice, and a lot of shells, I was getting score more like 35-40 out of 50. This skill will probably be a pretty good skill to have in the future, for sports and other stuff. This is one of my best skills because I can learn new languages and other helpful things in the future if i needed …show more content…
Earlier this year when Opus practices were going on some of my friends tried to convince me to try to join it with them and one of them told me “Benji, you’re too good of a singer to not try out for it.” That complement really made me feel good, especially because the reason that I wasn’t going to try out was because I didn’t think that I could make it (I didn’t, but it was a good experience).
Another complement that really meant a lot to me was when the coach called me “Their secret weapon” against the Raider’s (Before I even played, he believed that I would be the key to us winning). Even though I didn’t believe that I would be able to help us win, coach still believed in me.
The final compliment was when I was in my audition the judge told me that I was the most prepared out of all the other trombone players. That meant that I was the player that knew the music best and could play it the best. That complement made me really proud and I was really glad that I got it. There are other compliments that I could have named, but these were the most meaningful ones in my

Personal Narrative: A Career As A Leader

...My interest in writing essays and being a leader allowed me to be elected Editor in Chief of the largest award winning yearbook in the nation. Working side by side with my Journalism teacher and managing a staff of editors, photographers and ad managers has taught me how to manage a company more than any AP course ever could. I have first hand experience in promoting an environment where every staff member could achieve their goals. I have first hand experience in learning to prioritize in order to meet deadlines and most importantly I have first hand experience in learning that quitting is not an option. But oddly, being Editor in Chief was not my identity throughout High School, because no person takes notice of who creates the yearbook, but instead I was known for being President of my class. While this was an important leadership position, no leadership position holds candle to the life lessons I learned creating the Highlander Yearbook. Motivating people to step up to the plate in order to be the best they can be was my responsibility in both leadership positions as President and Editor in Chief. Being President of my class, I was responsible for morning announcements, writing monthly editorials for the Bagpipe newspaper and creating social media post to promote school involvement. Student Council members felt the more each student was involved in school or community activities the less likely they would veer into self destruction. While being Editor in Chief, communication...

Personal Narrative: A Career In Dance

...Ever since a very young age, a love of ballet developed into a goal to prevail. With great anticipation, I was taken to my first live Nutcracker performance at the age of five. I remember watching the dancers in their beautiful costumes and moving in a mesmerizing graceful style on the stage. That fateful day sealed the decision of a career path in the performing arts. The dream of following a performing arts career in dance was furthered by attending Texas Christian University on a merit scholarship as a Ballet Major. This scholarship made it possible to train and dance on a daily basis and to quickly advance. Extremely hard work earned an offer to join a ballet company, a rare opportunity not offered to every dancer. Although that...

Personal Narrative: A Career In Football

...Hall of Fame coach Don Shula once said, “Sure, luck means a lot in football. Not having a good quarterback is bad luck.” The most difficult job in sports is playing quarterback. No job in sports is more crucial to a team’s success. Without a quarterback a team cannot win. A quarterback is a pitcher, point guard, and coach all in one. Just as in baseball, where a team wins or loses based largely on how well its starting pitcher pitches, a football team will win or lose based on how well the quarterback performs. If a pitcher gives up seven runs or a quarterback throws four interceptions, the team will most likely lose. If the pitcher pitches seven shutout innings or the quarterback throws four touchdowns without an interception, victory is most likely the end result. Not only does the quarterback have to throw well, but he is also the point guard of a football team. Just as a point guard does in basketball, a quarterback must read the defense and make adjustments to the plays that are called. He must also spread the ball around to his various receivers. If a point guard does not make sure all of his teammates are getting the ball, then they will become frustrated and ruin the offensive rhythm. If a quarterback does not target all of his receivers enough, they may become frustrated and not block for their teammates causing the team to fail to execute and win. Most importantly, the quarterback has to act as the coach on the field. He has to know the offense as well...

Personal Narrative: A Career As A Supervisors

...In the former organization I worked for, I was working for as a customer agent in company. During one of my shifts, I realized that I was spending too much between serving one customer and the next. This had started causing me frustration and it had also begun to affect the way that I was performing. One of the supervisors came to my workstation and observed the way that I was working. After about half an hour, my supervisor told me that I was doing things wrong and that was why I was taking a lot of time between shifting from one customer to the other. Instead of focusing on the reasons why my supervisor had given me some insight or in the way that my supervisor had called me aside to correct me, I chose to focus on the positive. I felt and...

Personal Narrative: A Career In The Arts

...About one year ago a mentor said to me “If you want to pursue a career in the arts you'll need one thing, perseverance. This makes my job harder because it's something you can't teach.” Though today, tart is one of my main passions it did not begin that way. It started as a distraction Which turned into a hobby. Then after a slight downfall became a life goal. Firstly, In elementary school art was more about my lack of attention span and other talents than anything else.Way back in 4th grade my mom had to go to work extremely early. So I went to a before school program called Kids Klub. When my mom used drop me off I was always the first kid there . So every morning i came in sat down with some markers and started drawing while the leader relaxed. In exchange for me not causing trouble and being an “early bird” I got to pick from the newest markers. After an hour or so other kids would start to come in as it got closer to school time. With the brought their games, both physical and non. I in 4th grade used to play they quite a bit even though I was no good at them. Personal Narrative: A Career In Counseling

...her superwoman. But then again doesn’t every woman take on these roles in her life? Balancing a professional work environment while tending to a family. Could it be that her position as a counselor strengthens this thought and question? Human Resources Approach According to Miller, “the human resources approach acknowledges contributions of classical and, especially, human relations approaches to organizing” (45). I thought that this concept related best with my interviewee. As program coordinator as her official title she is in charge of many responsibilities. I asked her if she could describe her job as well as what are her main responsibilities were for. Her response was financial aid counseling, personal counseling, career & graduate/professional school counseling, and career services. She then explained her role as a program coordinator for that...

Personal Narrative: A Career As A Nurse

...In all my references my bosses have used words such as “dedicated, hardworking and whole hearted” to describe my work ethic. In just a few words, all my employers explain how my work ethic is unique and it will be missed. As I’ve stated earlier this job can be hard for some people to stick with on a career basis. However, I am not that person and I will work just as hard as I have in the past if not more. When I as a senior in high school I volunteered on Tuesday nights to feed the homeless. The first night I started volunteering I realized that I had gotten more than I had bargained for. There were so many homeless people in my community that I had been unaware of until that first night. Seeing both children and pets out on the street with nothing to eat and barely enough to keep them warm at night...

Personal Narrative: A Career As A Writer

...With my head down, I had just walked back to my desk, ready to accept failure. Being one of the last ones to finish the assignments, I had thought for sure I wouldn’t have gotten a good grade on it. As the teacher was reading through the essays, she called me up to her desk. She hadn’t called up anyone else. At that moment I felt my heart sink. Was I in trouble? Did I do that bad that she had to stop mid-reading to tell me? What did this mean? But what she said next would be the best confidence booster I had ever had in class, and would stick with me forever.. It was my Junior year in high school, I had been submerged in homework and assignments like I was swimming in the ocean; up to my neck. I never considered myself an “amazing” writer.. There was a day where I had to do both and it was really important for a class I was taking. Mrs. Bridges’ class was one of the spoken about class amongst students. That class either made you a better writer/reader, or it gave you more work than you could handle. Of course I was nervous about taking the class, but I knew if I did succeed I would benefit from it. This day just so happened to be one of the biggest assignment days we had planned. Two quizzes and an essay due, in class. I pulled out all my notes, opened up a textbook, had everything I would need set up. That’s when Mrs. Bridges said “go ahead and begin.” The classroom became noisy. No one was talking, but all you heard was clicking and tapping from keyboards and people flipping...

...deciding what to say. Having completed every portion of the application except this essay, I waited and waited for the perfect words to use and points to make. However, I came to the realization that a simple, honest answer would give the best, authentic picture of who I am. “Let anyone who comes to you go away feeling better and happier. Everyone should see goodness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile. Joy shows from the eyes. It appears when we speak and walk. It cannot be kept closed inside us. It reacts outside. Joy is very infectious.” These words from Mother Teresa were once used to describe me and have stayed with me since. Today they hold more weight than I could have ever imagined. It was not until I began pursing my nursing career that I realized how I can...

Personal Narrative: A Career In Skiing

...Never give up on anything, even if it seems impossible at first. After I got over my self-doubts about my skiing skills, I improved tremendously. Now, I like to spend my weekends skiing with my family and friends on Silver Star Ski Mountain, I go up skiing almost every weekend during the winter season. However, it didn’t start out that way. The first year I went skiing was the winter of my grade seven year when my dad bought a Seasons Pass for himself, my brother, and for me. Kaiden, my brother, and I went skiing at Silver Star a couple of times before my dad bought us the passes, except we were quite young. It was a big stretch for him to get these passes, luckily he hit the jackpot; we used them more than enough times in the end. The first day we used our passes was a chilly day on the mountain with a snow base of 139cm and a couple centimeters of fresh powder on top. It was a beautiful day, even though it was a bit cold; the sun peaked through the clouds enough to make the snow glisten. Unfortunately, for the first couple of weeks we didn’t get to really enjoy gorgeous days like our first. At first going skiing was more stressful than fun for my dad, brother, and I. My attitude towards skiing made it like hell to go up, I thought that I would easily be able to ski right away, but I was wrong and I was really frustrated. If I fell and couldn’t get up right away I wanted to quit, in fact, everything about skiing made me want to quit. Also, it always bothered me...

Personal Narrative: A Career In College

...College has been something that in my mind has always been out of reach. But now that im here, it has become evident why I am here. Ever since I was a kid English has always been what comes easiest for me. Yeah I was good in school, but English always stuck out for me. And over time, the one career that has stuck out from everything else that I’ve done was to do something with English (that or to be a personal trainer cause I’m also interested in physical fitness). Whether its teaching it, or simply letting the stories that play in my head flow onto to a page from my pen, I want to learn as much as I can about it and use it for my future career. Personal Narrative: A Career In Forensics

...Psychology has always been something I’ve been very intrigued in since I was about 12 or 13 years old. Although my parents told me one day when I was in kindergarten, they went in for a parent teacher conference and learned some very interesting news. It seemed my kindergarten teacher had already decided on an area of careers that I was going to pursue. When they began talking the first thing that she told them was, “ I can already tell just by watching Dylan this year so far that he will have a career with hands on social activity. He is not afraid to talk to anyone and always helps everyone when they are sad. He’s also very importunate as well.” I was repressed this story until I was about 16 because that was about the age I told my parents I want to do something with Psychology. I feel as though I am someone who’s very accost. I also watch a lot of criminal investigation shows as well, which helps with the forensic part of my pursued career. I usually can guess why the assumed killer committed the crime he or she convicted. I already know a decent amount of knowledge about...
