Come travel to Catalina with me! This past week I got to go to Camp Emerald Bay on Catalina Island. At Emerald Bay you can find many different animals such as the Catalina Fox, Bison, Garibaldi, Deer, and many ocean creatures. There are also many plants like sage, eucalyptus, and many more. Even though there are many plants, don’t expect the island to look like Hawaii. It is not that green, but the water is beautiful beyond compare. Today I am going to talk about the accommodations, food, and the fun activities you will do there.
The accommodations are very nice considering it is a camp. The cabins have lots of space. There are eight beds in each cabin with lots of storage such as drawers, cabinets, and hangers. The beds all have a comfortable mattress along with about five windows. On the bottom bunks, as well as having windows, you also have a reading light. The activities we got to do there was snorkeling, kayaking, the vertebrate/invertebrate lab, The Trust walk, The Natural History Hike, The Squid Dissection, The Fish Lab, and The Bird Lab. What I’d like to point out, even though they weren’t my favorites, were the vert/invert lab and the squid dissection. During vert/invert, you get to pet sharks, stingrays, and other cool ocean creatures. During the squid dissection you get to write with squid ink that actually came from inside the squid! Before I get to my personal favorite, I’d like to talk about the Trust Walk. I absolutely loved the trust walk. I liked the idea of it, and even though I’m not allowed to share details with you, I know you guys will love it as well. My favorite activity was kayaking. I loved kayaking because we got to be active while in the water! Kayaking wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be and the oars are actually quite
