Around eight years ago, I found myself visiting my aunt Debbie in Lake Isabella during summer vacation. It didn’t matter how deserted and old Lake Isabella was, I was up for the adventure. Her home does look beautiful from the outside, the front yard is dirt but the house itself is antique, made in the 40’s, wooden and inviting. As I enter the front door, my aunt is waiting on the couch inside smoking a cigarette. She exclaims, “Oh my goodness look how big you’ve grown!” “Yeah, it’s been a few years,” I responded. My aunt Debbie looks like a typical Lake Isabella resident. She is white, hick, and semi-crazy. She still has an older generation’s mindset and outlook on life. She would play with her hair quite often and laugh at the stupidest things. …show more content…
I knew I would be able to make my own Disneyland firework show all for myself, yards away from my face. I was entranced with the things my mind was coming up with. The perfect idea came to me, the greatest idea ever, “light them all off at once.” Once I thought it up, it couldn’t be undone, my body jittery with excitement, I needed to do it quick. I thought to myself, “I need to light these off as soon as possible.” Now the most important part, where do I light them off at? I went with the first place that came to mind, the middle of the backyard. The brush would never be set on fire! So I began placing the fireworks into a circle, anxious to see the marvelous show they will feature. I was almost ready to start the show, but I forgot, I needed a lighter! I walked inside, grabbed the lighter off of the kitchen counter, and rushed back outside. Time has finally come to see the marvelous show. I lit the first firework, and immediately my plan went …show more content…
Unfortunately, before I could get to the second firework, the first fell over and lit the dry brush on fire. I was in complete awe, I couldn’t do anything except stare at the dark orange and yellow flames burn my future away. My life was over, I had no chance of living once my mom found out. In panic, I finally ran inside to get water never thinking about the easily accessible water hose in the backyard. Before I could count to ten, the fire was beyond my control. At least one acre were already on fire. All I was able to do was run inside and tell my aunt what happened. As quick as she heard fire, Debbie ran outside in complete disbelief of what I had done. She probably would have stood there looking at the fire forever if I had not been crying for the firefighters to come. She runs inside and calls the police as the fire was continuously growing beyond the backyard. It traveled towards the forest of brush and towards one of the neighbor’s house. At that moment my heart dropped. The fear I felt was beyond what words could explain. I was hoping no one was inside. The few minutes it took the firefighter was longer than the time it took to drive to my aunt’s house from
