Personal Narrative: Desoto Eagles Nest

During my high school years, my mom decided to branch away from feeding kids in the summer as a non-profit organization, to create her own organization. We called it “Desoto Eagles Nest”, which provides donated clothes to high school kids in need, hot meals for the football players after practice, school supplies, and hot or cold meals for the kids in the summer. I attended Desoto High School, so the name of the organization fit perfectly for our mission to give back to Desoto, TX and its children. My mom and I started this organization with just four people, my mom and I, Chris our neighbor and his wife. I didn’t want this to be an aggregate, so we create a team that will keep this organization moving forward with my mother being the group leader. This way we can also create strong friendly relationships with the kids we meet every year. This was two years ago and since then we have a primary group of 12 but in the summer we recruit a secondary group of 6 to 8 more people depending on how many places we get to serve. …show more content…
Also, you can see how great it affects the kids’ right in the moment. The high school football players loved the idea of a hot well prepared meal the night before the game or after a long successful practice. We prepare spaghetti, green beans, and a roll or chicken spaghetti, steamed broccoli, and a roll and they always tried to sneak back in line for seconds. We have the best cook in the family to prepare the food which is my mother and everyone else in this social group is the best at conformity and group decision
