I started my shop looking for cards because I needed some for my grandma and my nana. I started by asking the first person with the outfit of an employee as I asked I saw she looked liked a manager but I did not confirm. I thought she was a little rude and short but was very helpful in directing me the right way maybe a smile would had made the experience a lot More inviting. I luckily found 2 cards right away there was a huge variety to choose from. I also got attracted to the makeup section although it was crammed and disorganized I found the lipstick I wanted. Not my first choice for having to shop for makeup ill stick to shoppers drug mart!

...Lower East Side Memories
: A Jewish Place in America
By HASIA R. DINER The Lower East Side and American Jewish Memory I'm Jewish because love my family matzoh ball soup. I'm Jewish because my fathers mothers uncles grandmothers said    "Jewish," all the way back to Vitebsk & Kaminetz-Podolska via Lvov. Jewish because reading Dostoyevsky at 13 I write poems at restaurant    tables Lower East Side, perfect delicatessen intellectual. —Allen Ginsberg, "Yiddishe Kopf" The poet Allen Ginsberg, born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, returned in his later years to a narrative style of expression, shifting gears from the anger and fire of his early career. In this poem from 1991 he also touched down again, after a long hiatus spent exploring Buddhism and Eastern philosophy, upon some Jewish themes, as a way of remembering the world of his youth. He described that world in one poem, "Yiddishe Kopf," literally, a Jewish head, but more broadly, a highly distinctive Jewish way of thinking, based on insight, cleverness, and finesse.     That world for him stood upon two zones of remembrance. The world of eastern Europe, of Vitebsk, Lvov, and Kamenets-Podolski gave him one anchor for his Jewishness. Thai space of memory gave him a focus for continuity and inherited identity, tied down by the weight of the past, by family in particular. The other, the Lower East Side, nurtured and...

English Syntax

...new coinages and at last the individual speaker’s creativity are actualized only on the level of syntax, and, having been melted into a completed unity, can fulfill its communicative purpose. Thus the importance of syntax for stylistic analysis is hard to overestimate. It is syntax that fixes the stylistic aspect of any text. Syntax, alongside with other stylistic elements (phonetic, morphological, lexical) that secure utterance meaning, provide it with additional connotations or expressiveness and contribute to the development of text imagery system, is an efficient mediator of aesthetic delight. To desplay the stylistic value of syntactic constructions which by their form render the main idea of the text, reflect the type of author’s personal perception and perform a characteralogical stylistic function, let us...

A Hotel and Restaurant Practicum Report

...industry. The goal of the practicum is to prepare the student for competent and responsible practice. A successful practicum is one that achieves that goal. The BSHMT program of the City College of Tagaytay considers the practicum training to be among the most important professional preparation activities in which BSHMT students participate. Practicum experiences are intended to allow students to synthesize, apply and refine knowledge and skills learned in their academic experiences. In addition, practicum experiences are one of the primary ways in which department faculty members can observe and evaluate the skills of the student. Because of the importance of students’ practicum, the Department requires the student-trainee to prepare a narrative report of his practicum experiences in hospitality industry. This report was based on the student’s training experiences at the following establishments: Taal Vista Hotel, Taj of Tagaytay and Massimos Ristorante Italiano during the second semester of year 2007-2008 in Tagaytay City, Cavite, Philippines as a prerequisite for the subject HMT 12–Practicum. The practicum training was an exciting and memorable experience for the student because it gave her the first opportunity to employ the skills and theories she learned in classroom setting. The Internet has become a huge medium for advertisers, targeting audiences more precisely than any medium before it. Yet, none of the venerable ad agencies at that time could have guessed that an Internet start-up—Google— would become bigger than the leading multinational advertising holding companies like Omnicom, WPP, Interpublic, and Publicis. Nearly 99 percent of Google’s $16.6 billion revenue in 2007 came from advertising. THE BUSINESS OF MASS MEDIA B 343 ‘ ADVERTISING However, Google is different from the Madison Avenue agencies. It doesn’t design witty, slick ad campaigns. Instead, it facilitates the dull but effective text-based sponsored links that appear in Google searches or on affiliated sites. “We are in the really boring part of the business…the boring big business,” Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt says.2 What Google’s ads lack in creativity, they make up in precision. Google’s AdWords advertising...
