Personal Narrative: Terra's First Varsity Bowling Team

Since elementary, I have been very involved in school activities, whether it be volunteering at PTA functions, member of an extracurricular club, or student government president. According to my mother, as of an early age, I demonstrated many leadership qualities such as initiative, resourcefulness, confidence and enthusiasm, both academically and in extracurricular activities. Thus in high school my goal was to embody these qualities into a sport or club, therefore as a Freshman, I decided to try out for Terra's first Varsity Bowling Team. The first year was a bit disappointing, substituting most of the time. Nevertheless, I established myself, and during Sophomore year I became the Team's Lead Starter. As a Sophomore and Junior, I consistently bowled well, helping the team achieve two undefeated seasons, two USBC-GMAC Championships, one FHSAA District Championship, 2nd Place Districts and the honor of going to States twice.

Thus, I was ecstatic when I placed 2nd of 130 participants for Individual Highest Game, and assisted the Team to win 2nd place at the 2015 MDCC Youth Fair Bowling Invitational. Not exactly what I planned, but it was a remarkable finish to an astounding four years with a third undefeated season, a third consecutive USBC-GMAC Championship, and another 2nd Place at the 2015 FHSAA Districts. In fact, everyone's average on the Team improved, as did their skills. Personally, I ended the season with a 198 average, 4th highest average in the county. Although, announcements for All-Dade First Team will be in early 2016, I am extremely proud of the Team's accomplishments, as well as my personal achievements during the past three years.
