Submitted By

I recently bought a new smartphone from AT&T and received a defective phone. I went into the AT&T store to exchange the phone, but the representatives told me to call their 1-800 number. Due to the fact that my phone was not working, I was unable to call the number. After arguing with the representative, they agreed to call the number for me. The associate said that I would have to wait at least a couple of days for my new phone that I need every day for communication.
The reason why I bought my phone from AT&T was because they are a big company. I thought that I will get a good condition phone and if something happen, they will provide a good service to solve my problem. However, the service gap between my expectation and the service I received

The Evolution of Sprint Wireless

...Company Background The wireless phone industry has made its mark on the world in incredible fashion. If we look back at history, twenty years ago you had to be either a celebrity or someone of incredible prominence to own a “mobile” phone. Today, the industry is so mainstream that 86% of people all over the world own a cell phone. Here in the U.S. 18% of Americans use a cell phone as there primary phone. The house phone is becoming obsolete and cell phone companies are reaping in the rewards. With all the added features of today's basic cell phone, the devices are also becoming a primary source for television, cameras, mp3 players and personal computers. Cell phones have served as a security tool for parents who want to keep an electronic eye on their children while still keeping their distance. They can be your GPS when you are lost in the middle of nowhere. They can be your best friend in an emergency or if you find yourself in any other tight spot. I once had a classmate who told me that he had a paper due in less than 45 minutes and he wrote and submitted it on his Blackberry. For these reasons and many more, the cell phone industry has exploded in the last quarter century and some of the major service providers have made profit hand over fist. This narrative is meant to give the reader an insight into Sprint; one of the top three service providers here in the U.S. The Sprint company began in the late 1800's as the Brown Telephone Company based out of Abilene, Kansas....

Celebrity Endorsement

...uses made of celebrity involvement in marketing strategies. My focus:  Star Power: Why so many of us buy cosmetics to 'get the London look' ‘I touched you at the sound check: you’re just the same as I am, but what makes these people feel happy, leads us headlong into harm’ this is a famous quote from the infamous singer song-writer Morrissey, described by NME is ‘one of the most influential artists ever’. This one man has inspired thousands of musicians and has set the standard for indie music, worldwide. In this case, Morrissey’s celebrity status has made a positive impact on his fan-base, even though his private life might not be so admirable, he has been awarded elitism from the masses because of his musical skills. This is refreshing, especially in todays world where a celebrity, according to Wikipedia is ‘someone who is easily recognised in a society or culture’, they may be famous for 15 minutes or a lifetime, for an achievement or through pure infamy and be positive or negative, to name just a few. The stark contrasts between each of these groups connotes that a celebrity is hard to explain. And do they even need explaining? Not in the post-modern era were living in today; they’re quite simply just another part of society, at least in my opinion. Richard Dyer documented that ‘stars articulate what it is to be human in contemporary society’ and this seems so in the case of fan-culture and star worship my peer group are subconsciously members off. ...THE B L A C K SWAN The HIGHLY I mpact IM of the PROBABLE Nassim Nicholas Taleb U.S.A. $26.95 Canada $34.95 is a highly improbable event with three principal characteristics: It is unpre dictable; it carries a massive impact; and, after the fact, we concoct an explanation that makes it appear less random, and more predictable, than it was. The astonishing success of Google was a black swan; so was 9 / 1 1 . For Nassim Nicholas Taleb, black swans underlie almost everything about our world, from the rise of religions to events in our own personal lives. A BLACK SWAN Why do we not acknowledge the phenomenon of black swans until after they occur? Part of the answer, according to Taleb, is that humans are hardwired to learn specifics when they should be focused on generalities. We concentrate on things we already know and time and time again fail to take into consideration what we don't know. We are, therefore, unable to truly estimate oppor tunities, too vulnerable to the impulse to simplify, narrate, and categorize, and not open enough to rewarding those who can imagine the "impossible." For years, Taleb has studied how we fool our selves into thinking we know more than we actually do. We restrict our thinking to the irrelevant and inconsequential, while large events continue to surprise us and shape our world. Now, in this reve latory book, Taleb explains everything we know about what we don't know. He offers...

Creativity Under the Gun

...People often come up with their best ideas when time is tight-at least thafs what many executives assume. The trouble /s, as new research reveals, it's not true. CreativityG Under the T RULY BREAKTHROUGH IDEAS tarely hatch overnight. Consider, for example, Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, which had a protracted evolution of its own. Darwin spent decades reading scientific literature, making voyages on the HMS Beagle to the Galapagos and other exotic destinations, carrying out painstakingly detailed observations, and producing thousands of pages of notes on those observations and his ideas for explaining them. It's inconceivable that his breakthrough would have occurred if he'd tried to rush it. In business, too, there are striking examples ofthe value of having relatively unstructured, unpressured time to create and develop new ideas. Scientists working at AT&T's legendary Bell Labs, operating under its corporate philosophy that big ideas take time, produced world-changing innovations including the transistor and the laser beam. Their ingenuity earned the researchers several Nobel prizes. They, like Darwin, had the time to think creatively. But we can all point to examples where creativity seemed to be sparked by extreme time pressure. In 1970, during Apollo 13's flight to the moon, a crippling explosion occurred on board, damaging the air filtration system and leading to a dangerous buildup of carbon dioxide in the cabin. If the system could not be fixed or replaced...
