Professional Development Plan (PDP)

Personal Introduction and Professional Goals Raised up in a family with thinker, philosopher, and civil rights activist. My mother and uncle inspired me to attend college. They taught me that getting an education was an honor and a freedom especially, a college education. My uncle and mother would tell us the story when they grow up and how the darker people was not given the opportunity to get a college education, and the light color people were usually in the house, and these people were known to have the opportunity to go to college, and that her father was among the people who could to go to college. So they knew the values of acquiring a college education. My uncle taught me that education was the best way to achieve knowledge and wealth. It took time to understand what he tried to instill in me.
It was not until I attend Detroit Instituted of Technology that I realized the value and the important of having a college education, and the impact in a class-room learning environment had on a new thinker like me. Thank to my mother and uncle who instill in me love for the pursuit of excellence in academics, particularly science. Her constant support and guidance was an instrumental to the successful pursuit of my benefit. With science as my preferred area in college- biology was one of my favorite subjects. This was because it brought me nearer to investigating and solving some of my main aspiration for knowledge about human condition. In addition, to some of the first solutions the theory about the origin, and treatment of human health problems, and the after effect of such treatments and solutions. My mother being a type 2 Diabetes patient, and triple bypass, and other health related issues. I took a personal interest in her medicine...

Personal Financial Plan

...Personal Financial Plan Part 1 Laura Grundowski Abstract This paper will discuss the beginning of my personal financial plan. It will also outline said plan into a budget that will be put to use throughout the next few months. Budgeting is a vital part of managing one’s personal finances. When beginning to budget one must pinpoint the sources of cash inflows and cash outflows. Having knowledge of your personal financial situation is also necessary in managing personal finances. If done right, personal financial statements provide information on current financial positions and help pave the way for financial success. Goal setting is most successful for me when I begin with short term goals. For short term, one of my goals is to establish a short vacation fund with which I can go on a birthday weekend vacation somewhere up north. I estimate that I will need roughly $400 by January 1st, and that I will need to save $34 per week for the next few months to achieve this goal. A second short term goal is to save pay off my $400 credit card balance on my Capital One. I estimate that I can make payments of about $80 per month for the next 5-6 months to pay the balance in full with additional interest that will accumulate. My intermediate goal is to begin saving for a wedding. Once my credit card bill is paid off, I can switch the $80 payment from the credit card to this goal. At the time of purchase, I expect to have saved $4,800. Although I will have some help from my......

Personal Development Plan

...Throughout the course, we were required to complete weekly self-assessment exams that provided us the opportunity to learn more about ourselves and how we live our daily lives. What affects us, and how to properly make the necessary changes that will help us grow not only in our personal life; but also in our professional life. I learned that my life is very chaotic and at times, I get distracted and can easily become stress with certain situations. For example, I just became a new mom in 2013 and trying to juggle work which can easily be a twelve hour shift, then coming home and attending to mommy duties which of course never end; also attending school part time while still trying to keep a semi social life can become very hectic. The amount of help that is provided to me is very limited, which becomes overwhelming. At this time I’ve been focusing more in my career. I plan to complete my undergraduate certificate in Human Resources. Currently, my job title is Executive Assistant/office Manager for Univision Communications. My company is one of the biggest Hispanic television networks in the United States and Mexico. I currently assist the EVP, Business Development and the team which is located with me in New York then locations in Miami and Denver. Since I’ve been adding more HR related roles into my current job responsibilities, I believe that completing my certificate program will enable me to familiarize myself more within the Human resources role for example, vacation...

Personal Development Plan

...This report is a personal development plan that shows an evaluation of current skills and knowledge that includes my strengths and weaknesses. Development is a lifelong of nurturing, shaping and improving an individual's skills, knowledge and interests to ensure my maximum effectiveness and adaptability, and to minimize the obsolescence of my skills and my chances of redundancy. It does not necessarily imply upward movement; rather, it is about enabling individuals to improve and use my full potential at each career stage. (Definition of personal development planning from class material) The personal development plan for me is a chance to know my self better, I can realize what I want to achieve or where I want to go in the plan, in the short- or long-term, and also identifying the need for skills, knowledge or competence. It also helps me to define the appropriate development to meet those perceived needs. In this report, I am going to focusing on what my strengths are and where my weaknesses are, also how to use my strengths in the field I will work into in the future, and how to develop my weaknesses to be my strengths as well. 2. EVALUATION OF SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Evaluation is the key stage to the self-development cycle because it enables me to discover whether that development activity was worthwhile, applicable, and if and how my skills or working behaviour as a result. In order to achieve any of these goals, I have to start by getting a university education that will serve as the foundation of these personal and professional goals that I have set for myself. But my personal goals do not end there. I have purchased an extremely comfortable chair rated for use in a range of five to eight hours consecutively, which allows me to be pain free in my lower back area and take less breaks from studying because of the pain and now my breaks are more enjoyable. Time management has been a problem since childhood. I am a huge procrastinator. I find any excuse to leave assigned tasks for the last minute. Sometime I even analyze it as that I need the pressure to function better, but I know that it is just a rationalization to not see the truth, that I lack academic discipline. I have come up with a solution. I......

...Introduction Personal Goals Playing to Your Strengths Building on My Competencies Conclusion School is a tool that allows you to be in control of your success or failure. You must match your pursuit of your degree based upon your strengths and not allow your weakness to hold you back. With goals, interest, and competencies guiding us into career development, I had to ask the hard question, “am I qualified to own a business after getting my Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting?” In the pursuit of our dreams, we have to remember to keep our integrity intact as the college environment will present many opportunities that will force us to choose. Make sure to use every resource and opportunity available. Allow mentoring by instructors, classmates, academic advisors, and people in your field of study that can help guide you to your goal. I had to make the correct decision for me because I was in control of success or failure. Being married with a stepson and working fulltime meant that the traditional college road was not the one for me. The University of Phoenix was the perfect choice for me in pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Accounting. It would allow me to continue to work and get a degree in an online setting. I knew that there were not many opportunities in my area for a career in a large corporation. And while I could work at a local firm, my plan was to own an Accounting firm. A gigantic step I was undertaking but had believed that I could do it. It was......
