Have you ever spent a day just crying? Like anyone in the world, I've had my fair share of problems. Ranging from little things, such as missing the bus, to massive, like losing a loved one. The most difficult obstacle that I have had and even today that continuously comes back to haunt me, is my depression. Most people believe it's just the stress of school but no one sees the true emotions

Even though it's hard to deal with, I've learned to overcome it and become a greater person that tries to diminish the world it creates and make it bright and filled with opportunities. Growing up, I could tell there was something wrong with how I perceived what I heard or saw, and I generally had a more pessimistic response than the people around me. Overtime, I began to question my existence and was really focused on trying to become someone of importance but instead stayed hidden in the shadows. I would get upset at every little thing and sulk for hours because
I was just overwhelmed with sadness and it hurt. My mom never really understood the circumstances behind the way I was acting because I never showed the signs of being depressed. How tired I was, how I didn't have an appetite, how irritable I became towards others, and the loss of interest towards learning and not being able to concentrate, feeling worthless and alone. I never wanted to express my actions toward her because I was terrified of her response and that she would reject me. During the depression, my grades plummeted and I could no longer focus on what I was learning. I became so withdrawn from …show more content…
It keeps pulling you back down farther and farther and makes you lose all hope to escape. At this point, you feel as if it's better to just give up and let it consume your body rather than continue asking for help because no one is listening or offering solutions that will help. I never felt so alone during these periods, constantly being at war with myself about everything. I felt like if I told anyone about this, that they would laugh and call me crazy by the fears that I had. To be rejected or unloved, being erased from existence only to result in a life of eternal solitude. My mom started worrying so much because she didn't know how to fix it and felt like it was her fault for me to become like this, I was hiding from my reality and wanted to end it because it became too hard to handle every day. It wasn't until high school that I decided that if I didn't talk to someone about this, the situation would continue to escalate and destroy me completely. I began seeing a therapist and even though it was difficult at times, I could feel it help and lessen the weight it held on my shoulders.

Personal Statement: A Career Analysis

...In retrospect, one of the most critical factors that inspired me to seek a career is the quote by Andrew Carnegie, “Anything in life worth having is worth working for.” I incorporated this principle into my individual value system, vowing that I will work with vigor to accomplish life endeavors. My contact with pharmaceutics commenced early, which is because my family owns a non-profit pharmacy where I have worked and volunteered. However, growing up in Bangladesh, a pharmacist was a civilian without any formalized training who owned a pharmacy and sold medication. Hearing about a different concept to pharmacy in 2010, science fair at my university sparked my interest. After that I did a lot of research on this new career and attended open houses for pharmacy school and information seminars. I was completely blown out of my mind regarding the different career options available with a pharmacy degree. Finally I had chance to volunteer at UCI medical center pharmacy and after the first day of volunteering at the pharmacy, I knew this was the career for me. Above all, Pharmacy’s contribution to the society is noble, which I believe should be furthered by young and ambitious individuals. Coming into a new culture characterized by the fast-pace of life in 2005, I struggled to fit in. Through group discussion, hard work, and building on my presentation skills, I was able to attain top marks in Bachelors of Science in Biology at California State University, Long Beach, in 2013. Despite...

Personal Statement: A Career Analysis

...In my current years of high school, my family was suddenly despaired with debts and credits. As of now, I live with my mother who barely makes a little bit more than minimum wage, tending to my every need. While manifesting in this time of stress, I had taken it upon myself to help my mom financially, even if it meant just paying for the electric or gas bill. Instead of grabbing a drink or watching a movie with my friends, one would find me working in a tutoring center or serving as a barista behind a tea house. While balancing school work, extracurriculars and part time jobs I developed a more conscious and focused mission: to pursue a career where I am able to utilize my abilities in a professional environment. My dedication to all my commitments...

Personal Statement: A Graduation Analysis

...My father always mentioned to me that man does not live to work. Rather, they work so that they may have the resources to live. In my case, I decided during the summer of my junior year that I would search for any job opportunities so as to gain the resources and experience to live in the world beyond education and schooling. To my disbelief, I found that that world was much more difficult to enter than I had once imagined it to be. I discovered that the hiring process was affected only minimally by school performance and because of that, I found myself without a job, waiting for responses that always ended in a professional denial. In fact, I myself was in denial since I realized that most jobs- even those paying minimum wage- required prior experience that only employment could provide. The logic seemed unbreakable and for a time, I did not know what to do to progress, especially because at the time, I found myself wanting to emulate my parents who worked to support their family at ages quite younger than mine at the time. Fueled by this determination, I soon found myself visiting a small ice cream shop named Marble Slab Creamery asking for employment information and updates at least twice a week until I was called in for an interview. During the interview, the manager and I discussed job specifics rather than job opportunities- in retrospect, I must have visited often enough to fixate myself in his memory. Soon, I found myself with instructions to begin working on Wednesdays...

Financial Analysis

...Financial analysis Accountancy Financial analysis (also referred to as financial statement analysis or accounting analysis) refers to an assessment of the viability, stability and profitability of a business, sub-business or project. It is performed by professionals who prepare reports using ratios that make use of information taken from financial statements and other reports. These reports are usually presented to top management as one of their bases in making business decisions. Continue or discontinue its main operation or part of its business; Make or purchase certain materials in the manufacture of its product; Acquire or rent/lease certain machineries and equipment in the production of its goods; Issue stocks or negotiate for a bank loan to increase its working capital; Make decisions regarding investing or lending capital; Other decisions that allow management to make an informed selection on various alternatives in the conduct of its business. Financial analysts often assess the firm's: 1. Profitability -its ability to earn income and sustain growth in both short-term and long-term. A company's degree of profitability is usually based on the income statement, which reports on the company's results of operations; 2. Solvency - its ability to pay its obligation to creditors and other third parties in the long-term; 3. Liquidity - its ability to maintain positive cash flow, while satisfying immediate obligations; Both 2 and 3 are based on the company's...

...and the analysis involved in the process. Please let me know if you have questions or need further information. Yours truly, Brian Smith Enclosure Future analytical approach It is my opinion, that when dealing with future acquisitions, financial and accounting analysis is simply not enough. Therefore, it is my recommendation that an aggregate analytical approach include not just fundamental analysis, but also; corporate culture, synergy and customer analysis. Corporate Culture Analysis Future acquisitions need to carefully examine the morale and culture of the company being sought after. An overly dependent employee base that clings to its President and CEO presents a certain risk in production loss should the CEO exit the firm. As with the acquisition of Bainbridge House, morale dropped and attrition skyrocketed after Mr. Bainbridge’s passing. A high attrition rate and low morale has been shown to negatively affect production and overall efficiency. Therefore, a careful analysis needs to identify the independence and competitiveness of company employees. Synergy Analysis It is not enough to purchase a company based on fundamentals alone. If the company cultures of your firm and the firm being acquired are incompatible, valuable time will be lost looking for personnel replacements. Incompatibilities arise when the two companies have completely different goals and visions. As such, I recommend analyzing the takeover target’s mission statement, managerial...
