I want to take this time to express to you how much of an amazing, beautiful, thoughtful, kind and patient mother you are. Thank you for all you have done for our family. Every day you inspire me to be a better version of myself. Teaching me that in order to be a successful happy woman, I have to stay motivated and determined to accomplish my goals. College is hard, it is a constant cycle of stress that makes you want to give up. But every time the idea of giving up crosses my mind, I think of you. You always motive and inspire me to push myself and never give up. You tell me to struggle now, so that I do not have to struggle later; and you have no idea how much those words have changed they way I experience the difficult times I face in college.

There must be no blank spaces or half-empty lines inside the paragraph. A paragraph in academic prose does not begin with a dot, a line or a kind of mark, except in special circumstances. Each body paragraph must normally have a topic sentence, and more than one sentence. Types of paragraphs. The introductory paragraph. There must be at least one, although there can be more than one. This paragraph is usually a generalisation. It is more or less true, imprecise and it is of relative little value unless it is backed up. But we have to take care with generalisations. We have always to try not to do an overgeneralization, and our generalisation must never include our opinion (there will be time for this later). We will have to avoid, also,...

...Vision Statement, Mission Statement or even a Strategy that is outlined. Even though we are a small company that most of the time works well together, developing these three items will help the organization focus better as a whole. Over the next few pages, I will develop a Vision Statement, Mission Statement and Strategy for Picker & Associate’s, CPA’s. I will also explain how these statements would impact the company both positively and negatively. Change Analysis Paper: “Vision.” I had never really given it much thought before, but I think that creating a Vision Statement for Picker & Associates, CPA’s would be a great idea. If the task of creating one were given to me, I would present something like this: Within the next three years, Picker & Associates, CPA’s will become the premier accounting firm for condominium and homeowners association audit work by providing timely and efficient results. I think that the number one way that this statement can be valuable to the company is by helping us focus. Because of the economy, our organization has become very reactive and scared. I believe that by creating a vision statement for the company, we will be able to refocus and get back to what we do best. Whenever I did think about the three statements that my company does not have, the mission statement was always the one that came to mind first. After careful consideration, the following is what I came up with: ...

...what looked like materials for our interview. We began our interview and I listened intently while Ms. Bakutis told me of all the wonderful opportunities Morris Graduate College has to offer. We discussed which program may work best for me, location, and financial aid. As we were closing out the interview Ms Bakutis opened a black folder shaped like an elegant envelope and pulled out papers that needed to be returned as soon as possible. She then alerted me that classes would begin on December 2nd, 2013, so it would be beneficial to me to get started as soon as possible. The final thing Ms. Bakutis told me as we wrapped up our meeting is that I would need to submit a personal statement along with two letters of recommendation. Whoa!!!!! At that moment everything stopped. I need to write a personal statement? Wow!!! I’ve never written a personal statement. Am I really ready for this? These were just some of the thoughts running through my mind. I went into panic mode as my mind started racing. Aaaww man, I have to write a paper to get into the Master’s Program? Shoot!! What would I write about? Will this really determine whether the school will accept me or not? I haven’t written a paper since I was in the BSW program at Governors State University. Then I thought, forget it, I’m not doing this. There were so many thoughts going through my...

Time Management

...http://www.gradresources.org/articles/time_management.shtml You finally decide to sit down to begin your paper. As your computer warms up, you pick up a journal that has sat in the "to be read" pile for a month. There is an interesting article on innovative research methods in your field, so you decide to take notes. Two hours later, the paper is still untouched when there is a phone call from your advisor. It seems that he was given an opportunity for a sabbatical in Europe, and the date for your proposal has been moved up six months. You immediately shove the books aside (for the paper you thought you would work on), and you begin outlining the proposal. After a few moments, there is a knock at the door. You knew your friend was having a difficult personal time but why did it have to turn into a crisis now? Being the sensitive and available person that you are, you set aside your work to listen and comfort your friend. After several hours, you realize, as your friend is leaving, that you haven't eaten, you never started on your paper, the proposal is still mainly a collection of ideas in your head; and that you were so preoccupied with the personal pressures you were feeling that you wonder if you really did your friend any good. However, you decide that the urgent things will always push out things you planned so you start to wonder if you should give up planning. The scenario described is often referred to as "The Tyranny of the Urgent." There are some things that are out of our...

...that is based on logic and evidence. I found that the tone for Persuasion should be strong emotional appeal. First engage your heart, you can point out others' views that you felt were wrong, but don't attack the one that said it. Emotional appeals have a reasoning behind them, you have to be honest and never misleading. I found the structure for Persuasion writing is to; Have an Introduction, the controversial issue will need to be introduced, you may want to give two side to the controversies, give your opinion on the ideas, and set up your thesis statement. Go on to the body and make at least two paragraphs, take each of your ideas and put down in separate paragraphs why you like these ideas, give statistics, or get someone who is an expert in the field to give you something to go on to support you words. In the conclusion include your thesis statement. You can back up your statements and ideas and propose the readers take some action. Then add in some sense of closer with a strong ending. I found Exposition or Expository writing are used to help explain, analyze, and make sense of the writing. Informative writing a type of expository writing, give readers facts on subjects, like how something works. There are comparison and contrast papers that are two side of the same coin, when you contrast them to show the different. When you contrast them, it will show you the differences. Identity Theft Report

...sentencing. Identities have been stolen in order to obtain certain medical care or drugs that would be unavailable otherwise. In this day and age, identity theft has become synonymous with finances. Thieves all over the world are using various methods to gain access to your money; and they’re more successful at it now than ever before. According to a 2013 Javelin report, 13.1 million people in the United States suffered financially because of identity fraud. According to multiple reports, that number is expected to rise in 2014 and beyond. As we get smarter about how financial identity theft is committed, criminals become smarter about gaining our sensitive information. When we became good about shredding old credits cards and bank statements, they used e-mail and phone schemes to coax us into giving our information to them. Companies invest millions of dollars into new technologies meant to keep criminals out of databases, and criminals simply bypass these obstacles with combinations of cutting-edge and archaic techniques. It’s a vicious cycle that seems to have no end. So how can we as consumers protect ourselves from these identity thieves? Consumers must take a more active role in their financial lives, especially when it comes to online transactions. People often rely on stores and banks to protect their identities online. This is a huge mistake, as 97 percent of companies are getting breached. A problem this widespread is not one that can be taken lightly. And we...

Becoming a Critical Thinker

...Becoming a Critical Thinker By Dr. Lew A. Weider “A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps.” Proverbs 14:15 What Was He Thinking?! How many times have we said these words out loud as we watch reality home videos on television? You know the kind—the people who will do anything to get on TV! Like the guy that took his sled up onto the roof after a heavy snowfall. His bravado was showing all over as he stood on the roof, waving his sled for all to see. The stunt he intended to perform was to go sledding off of his roof and happily land on the deck below. No doubt he thought that all of that snow would help him make the perfect soft landing. Boy was he wrong! It was a brutal scene. He made a crash landing onto the deck. There was no more bravado. His body was crumpled in a heap in the midst of the splintered pieces of his sled. What was he thinking? His passion to attempt the impossible overshadowed his ability to think at all. We often have to set aside our passion to think clearly, to think critically, in order to make wise decisions. Critical Thinking It is a common practice we do every day, but we may never even be aware of it. For example, in the English language, how do you know whether the word “r-e-a-d” should be understood as a directive to “read a book,” or if it is to be understood as a past-tense word describing a moment that someone “had already read that book last week?” Critical thinking. Another example is with...

Select a business the service quality of which you want to assess. Using the SERVQUAL instrument, first obtain the score for each of the 22 expectation questions. Next, obtain a core for each of the perception questions. Calculate the Gap Score each of the statements (Gap Score = Perception – Expectation). Step 2. Obtain an average Gap Score for each dimension by assessing the Gap Scores for each of the statements that constitute the dimension and dividing the sum by the number of statements making up the dimension. Step 3. In TABLE 1 transfer the average dimension SERVQUAL scores (for all five dimensions) from the SERVQUAL instrument. Sum up the scores and divide it by five to obtain the unweighted measure of service quality. STEPS TO OBTAIN THE WEIGHTED SERVQUAL SCORE Step 1. In Table 2 calculate the importance weights for each of the five dimensions constituting the SERVQUAL scale. (The instructions are provided along with the table). Step 2. Effect of Unethical Behavior Article Analysis

...Unethical Behavior Article Analysis Lindsey Davison August 26, 2013 Acc/291 Jonathan Gillen Effects on Financial Statements When the Sarbanes-Oxley Act was implemented in 2002, it impacted a lot of publically traded companies. There were many companies that were using unethical practices to boost their numbers and give the top dogs of the company’s loads of money. Companies like Enron, Tyco, and WorldCom were companies that most of us heard about getting hit the hardest once the act was put into place. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act created a Public Accounting Oversight Board to ensure that financial statements are audited according to specific standards. This makes it to where those who are in top financial positions such as Financial Executives and Chief’s are held directly responsible for what is being reported to the SEC. With that being said, the Act also makes it to where the audits aren’t in complete control of those in top positions, so they can’t audit their own work basically, which is exactly how the above mentioned corporations got away with it for so long. There have been both positive and negative effects of the Act; positive effects are that investors are more confident in making solid investments (Fass, 2003). Some negative effects are that companies are spending a lot of time, money and concentration on updating their software to be up to par on the new standards, like the Section 404 certification (Fass, 2003). Those are just minimal if you look at the...

...How to Prevent, Perceive, and Protect Yourself from Identity Theft How to Prevent, Perceive, and Protect Yourself from Identity Theft Abstract What is Identity Theft? And the answer is that identity theft is a crime. Identity theft and identity fraud is the terminology used to refer to all types of crime which someone illegally obtains and uses another person's personal information in some way that involves fraud or deception, usually for economic gain. I will explain why you need to take precautions to prevent yourself from being a victim of identity theft. Unlike your fingerprints, which are unique to you and cannot be given to someone else for their use, but your personal data especially your Social Security number, your bank account or credit card number, and other valuable identifying data can be utilized, if they fall into the wrong hands, to personally profit at your expense. All over the country, for example, many people have reported that unauthorized persons have taken funds out of their bank or financial accounts, or, in the worst cases, taken over their identities altogether, running up enormous debts and committing crimes while using their victims's names. In many cases, a victim's losses may consist of not only out-of-pocket financial losses, but destroying your credit history, substantial financial costs associated with trying to restore their name and reputation in the community which they live, and correcting erroneous information the criminal is...
