...Individual personal statement Over the course of the facilitation module I have learnt many things, whether it be through work in class, through my own wider reading or my own personal experiences being a participant. One thing that has become clear through my reading of Boal's games for actors and non-actors is that facilitation is a platform to allow anyone to experience drama. I found this very interesting as using facilitation in this way shows the positive ways in which drama can be used. I felt that this was an important idea, especially as the purpose of our workshop was to bring drama to an age group that might not have had a chance to experience it. Although our group was not on the same calibre as the groups that Boal's in the theatre of the oppressed it is still just as important for them to experience drama, “Even if they had all been homogeneous groups I feel that this introduction would have been necessary” (Boal,1992) this clearly shows that it is important that we use facilitation in this way. Although I missed a section of this module, due to health reasons, I feel that I have tried my best to put in an equal effort towards to outcome as my peers. I have tried to use my own experiences being a participant in workshops myself and also my experience being a facilitator at a local drama school to influence my decisions in the planning and development process. As I was working with children of a similar age, I felt that this influenced the way I worked in this...

Personal Responsibility

...Personal Responsibility and College Success Personal responsibility is something that can help an individual. I believe that if a person has the sense to be responsible in their everyday life, then being successful in college will be a breeze. To be successful, one has to make good choices to get good results. The choice I made was to attain my college degree. In order to pursue that goal, I need to be personally responsible for the work ahead and make it through any obstacles. Furthering ones education and personal responsibility have many things in common, especially if it helps that person get their priorities in order. Personal responsibility is accepting the actions chosen and the consequences from those actions. I take upon myself to set my personal responsibility as succeeding in college. Haskins (2009) wrote, “When applied to education, personal responsibility means that students accept the responsibility to study hard and to learn as much as they can in courses that press against the limits of their capacity.”. In other words, I am going to push myself until I can no longer push. Move forward, do not look back – only look at what the future holds. I want to set an example for my children that if you find the motivation that helps you be that better person, go for it. According to Ellis (2011), “Motivation can come simply from being clear about your goals and acting on them.” My personal motivations are to provide my children with a future that I can......

Personal Credo

...Psychology Major Module 2: Assignment: Instructions and Grading Rubric DIRECTIONS: Personal Credo: Psychology is a science that pervades nearly every moment of every day of our lives. To provide just one small example, consider the complex psychological and physiological processes involved in forming thoughts, communicating with others, and remembering both happy and sad memories. The very manner in which you engage (or do not engage) with others in the world around you has been derived from a series of influences on you, both genetic and environmental, that have shaped you into the person you are today. Thus, we are the amalgamation of collective influences on us, from our families and friends to our coworkers and larger society. It is my firm conviction that to appreciate who we are and what we stand for, it is important to periodically self-reflect and consider our life experiences, those things important to us, and our current direction in life. To assist you in doing this, I will ask that each of you complete a “personal credo.” This term may be somewhat alien to you, so I will explain what materials are to be included in this brief summary of who you are. Submit your assignment via the Dropbox no later than Sunday 11:59 PM EST/EDT. (This Dropbox basket is linked to Turnitin.) The word “credo” relates to a personal set of values or beliefs. For this class, conceptualize your personal credo as a brief autobiographical statement that details not only......

Personal Responsibility

...Running head: PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY Personal Responsibility Julie George GEN/200 June 25, 2012 Monique Mesa Personal Responsibility Although many people are involved, college success depends greatly on personal responsibility. The definition of personal is “of, pertaining to, or coming as from a particular individual” and responsible means “answerable or accountable, as for something within one’s power, control, or management (Dictionary.com, 2012).” As a result, personal responsibility is an individual being accountable for the things he or she can control. Learning different strategies for success will not only be responsible, it will set up a routine that can be used beyond my college career. What is done now affects the outcome of the experience and personal responsibility is accepting the results of those actions. These concepts do not only apply to college but will be valuable in the workplace. Strategies Often times, people begin college thinking it will be like high school. In some ways they are right, but college takes much more personal responsibility, especially when taking classes online. There is not a teacher constantly reminding you of the tasks you must complete, or to encourage you to get things done. It is the student’s obligation to stay involved in the class, and get their school work accomplished. Some strategies to stay on track may seem simple, but can be very beneficial. The first strategy is setting clear and definite goals before......

Personal Responsibility

...your own individual personal responsibility. How you deal with your own personal responsibility factors into each and every one of those decisions you make on a daily basis. Personal responsibility to me is, living and leading a successful lifestyle as an individual. When you learn to lead a successful lifestyle then you start to gain credibility to take on other responsibilities in life. Also, for the majority of time, how well you do with your own personal responsibility factors in on your college success. To obtain college success you need a certain maturity level. In today’s society, when you finish high school we go straight to college. If you have good enough grades, test scores to get into college doesn’t justify being able to live the lifestyle of a college student. Without being personally responsible it will be very difficult on your path for college success. After reading an article on a website by Brian Tracy, I took this quote pertaining to personal responsibility. “The acceptance of personal responsibility is what separates the adult from the child. It’s the great leap forward into maturity. Responsibility is the hallmark of the fully integrated, fully functioning human being.” (Tracy) This quote should be on the front of every college catalog. To me your opinion of that statement, will define you as a person. If you can’t accept personal responsibility then you will never progress past an adolescent’s maturity level. Your individual personal......

Personal Respsonsibility Cause and Effect

...because the words are so profoundly true. In the end we cannot blame anyone but ourselves for the way our life turns out. As I began writing this paper, I really had to think about how I felt about my own personal responsibility. I had to consider how my decisions affect those that are in my personal circle. Realizing the choices that I make now or in the future could have a paramount effect on my family and closes friends. Yes, I am responsible for how others view me and take into account the person that I have come to be. Being personally responsible means; being accountable for everything that happens in my life, including my actions, attitude and the decisions I make about such things as my health, how I handle myself on my job, being a good parent and being an excellent student. Personal responsibility also means that for every cause there is an effect, every action has a reaction. Is this reaction positive or negative? Well, that depends solely on how one handles the situation life throws your way. My true happiness depends on the degree to which I recognize and accept the consequences of my actions and realize that each action has a direct impact on whether I reach my goals, accomplish my dreams and make my life meaningful. I have recently decided to take personal responsibility for my life and finish what I started so many years ago. I always promised myself when I had finished raising my son I would return to school and complete my degree. That moment has......

Personal Responsibility

...Personal Responsibility Courtney Cerniglia GEN/200 December 02, 2013 Lisa Foster Personal Responsibility Imagine your life if you did not take any responsibility. You never turn anything in on time, you don’t feed your cat, and you do not wash your socks. You would fail your class, your cat would be hungry, and you would stink. That life would be a chaotic one, so while it may seem difficult to learn personal responsibility, it is most important because the choices you make early in your education, influence your success in your academic career. Everyone needs clean socks, right? “Response-ability” Personal responsibility is simply a person’s “response-ability,” that is, the ability of a person to maturely respond to the various challenges and circumstances of life (Thomas, 2012). Look at it this way, if you are not willing to take personal responsibility, your giving up your opportunity for personal growth. Personal responsibility is also taking responsibility for your actions. In an article written by Ron Haskins, who is a senior researcher in economic studies, he stated “students accept the responsibility to study hard and to learn as much as they can in courses that press against the limits of their capacity” (Haskins, 2009). We as a student need to realize that we control what grades we make, what and how much information we take in, and how much time and effort we want to put into our academic careers. Personal Computer

...Personal computers are now a very common item in many houses yet in 1955, there were only 250 computers in use throughout the world. In 1980, more than one million personal computers had been sold and by the mid-1980’s, this figure had risen to 30 million. How did this come about? A computer in 1955 was very large and could not have fitted into a normal room in a normal sized house. They frequently burned out and had a tendency to attract moths into the system which short-circuited them. (Getting a computer ‘bug’ now refers back to the time when moths were a problem to the early computers). In the late 1950’s, computers got smaller because one of its main components - the valve - was replaced by the much smaller transistor. These made computers far more reliable and therefore businesses took a much greater interest in them. Firms such as IBM could sell a mainframe computer for just under £½ million pounds in today’s money. By the mid-1960’s, the microchip was replacing the transistor. A microchip could have several transistors on it. But being smaller, it lead again to a decrease in the size of computers. By 1965, there were 20,000 computers in the world. The most famous was the IBM System/360. The microchip also leads to computers being made that were small enough to get into the average sized room in a house. By 1970, one microchip could contain 1000 transistors on it. In 1970, a home personal computer would have cost nearly £70,000 in today’s money. In 1971, the......

...Personal Responsibility with Time Gen200 Personal Responsibility Success in college today is a balancing act of time; without balance between the academic career and a personal life, one will sometimes falter. Most people attending college today have a personal responsibility to a family as well as an academic career. For a person to be successful in college the right balance in both academic and a personal life must be found. Devotion to one without the other can often lead to neglect. Personal responsibility is in knowing the commitment required to reach the goal. It is about accountability for the impact a commitment to goals has on others. This commitment is time. A person often believes success in life when being able to manage a balance between time devoted to both family and career. Success in a person’s career is by support and encouragement from the family. This support and encouragement is available provide the time spent in the career does not overtake the time spent with the family. I see the relationship between personal responsibility and college success defined by a person wants to achieve in college and to what point a person allows it to encompass life. The people around a person, such as teachers, advisors, and even family members can encourage success, but it is the individual who has to put forth the efforts to make time available to achieve his or her goal. Not only does it teach an individual about accountability, it teaches them how to deal with everyday life. Some peoples’ responsibilities are different from others but it all serves the same purpose. For instance, responsibility includes many components to different people and can speak volumes about a person. If you take care of your responsibility, it shows that you are trustworthy. It can also help with college success. Relationship with College Success Beginning a relationship with college success and personal responsibility is essential (University of Phoenix, 2013, Goal-setting & Time Management). It serves as a foundation of any successful wellness of health practices. Personal health assessment helps people to achieve the best health through proven health support technics, evidence-based actions, and caring coaches. (LM Health Works) Health describes wellness as an important aspect of a human being to live well. Wellness however is the positive approach to living good with a health body, health mind, and more important living without diseases. There are six dimensions of wellness in a healthy lifestyle. Namely, intellectual, emotional, social, physical, spiritual, and environmental. Three of these mentioned dimensions have been elaborated in details below. First, globally, the environmental dimension of wellness determines which kind of life a certain area can harbor. This in turn helps to develop different characteristics of the people and animals. The settlement of human life in an oasis found in a desert-like environment depends on the health of the planet. ...Running head: Personal Responsibility 1 Personal Responsibility Tia U. Robinson Gen/200 January 26, 2012 Eric Graves Personal Responsibility 2 Personal Responsibility Personal responsibility can be defined in many ways. It has different meaning in many aspects of daily life. This essay will discuss the definition of personal responsibility and how it relates to both daily living and education. This essay will also discuss a preliminary plan to practice personal responsibility in education. Personal responsibility means being accountable for one’s own conduct and being willing to receive the consequences of those actions, whether positive or negative. It has several other meanings such as personal growth; it demonstrates strength of character, making right choices, dependency, and so forth. “Personal responsibility is one’s ability to take care of oneself by means of, keeping healthy, managing one’s emotions, keeping a sound mind, treating yourself with respect…,” (“Can you define,” 2012). “All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much you fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him or her, it will not change you, “(Dyer, 1996-2009). Personal responsibility is a learned behavior. We, as human beings, are not born with this ability. At a young age we are taught by our parents to act responsibly. We are assisted by them to obtain a way of life and personal qualities that are used in our daily lives as we mature......
