There is an issue in this country over the ethics and morality of abortion. In the last year, there has been a renewed call to defund Planned Parenthood because of this issue. Despite this controversy there are still many people who support Planned Parenthood. These people recognize that there are several reasons why Planned Parenthood should not be defunded. The Federal Government should continue to fund Planned Parenthood because women are able to have access to essential reproductive health services, affordable health care and there are negative repercussions for public health if Planned Parenthood was defunded. Women are able to have access to essential reproductive health services through Planned Parenthood as long as the Federal Government …show more content…
(Should the federal government allocate…)” Planned Parenthood has provided nearly 4.5 million tests and treatments for sexually transmitted diseases. The clinic provides testing and information on infections such as herpes, syphilis, gonorrhea, hepatitis B, and crabs. Birth control is another main service that the clinic provides. Many different types of birth-control are offered, such as the pill, NuvaRing, IUD, and the Depo shot. Planned Parenthood is the nation's largest nonprofit supplier of reproductive health services to women and men. Many people in the United States do take advantage of this program because Planned Parenthood provides many different health services at an affordable price. Not only does the clinic provide services for women, but they do also for men. Sexual Health services are available to men at their clinics. Planned Parenthood provides checkups for sexual health problems, and it also provides colon, testicular and prostate cancer screenings for men. Men do have contraception items as well that they may receive from the clinic. Those items include performing vasectomies and providing free condoms. “More than five million men and women

Music and Identity

...Elmhorst 1 Nicole Elmhorst Dr. Stephen McCabe WBIS 188-024 Research Essay December 13th, 2013 How Women Are Portrayed in Music In today’s society, the genres of rap and R&B are one of the most popular forms of music. Conversely, the ideas and lyrics of many songs fall into these genres tend to be violent, offensive, vulgar and sexist. We can see that sexism in rap music is apparent through the negative portrayal of women found in both the lyrics and music videos. This is an important issue because rap is so popularized today that these negative depictions of women, especially African American women, is potentially giving its viewers the idea that it is acceptable to treat women in such demeaning ways. Most of the time, we do not comprehend the message that is being sent through songs we listen to. We as society need to become more conscious of the music we listen to. Over the years, rap and rap music videos have repetitively become more and more sexual and degrading towards women. Rap has been criticized various times for this reason. The excuses used to justify the misogyny in rap are inadequate and lack accurate support. The most effective way for this continuous cycle to end is if the fight and protest comes from the women themselves. Men are the problem in the objectification of women but in order for it to stop, women need to step up and take control of the situation. Misogyny and degradation of women does exist in almost every genre of music, yet the Elmhorst...

...section Vi essay forms Many people use the term “essay” to mean any paper written for a class. In actuality, there are many different types of essays, each of which has a unique purpose, form, and style. We call these different types of essays “modes of discourse,” and they include expository, persuasive, and comparecontrast essays to name just a few. This section of the Guide has a dual purpose. First, various types of essays are described and suggestions are included about how to approach each particular type of writing. Second, the sample essays are good tools for you to see how these different essays look in their final form. These are not templates (no essay can be a carbon copy of another even in form), but they will give you a good idea of what a final piece of writing for each mode of discourse looks like. It would be advantageous to critically analyze the form and content of each sample against the instruction for how to write each type of essay. chapter 21 expository essays Jennifer propp An expository essay explains something using facts rather than opinions. The purpose of this type of essay is to inform an audience about a subject. It is not intended to persuade or present an argument of any kind. Writing this type of essay is a good way to learn about all the different perspectives on a topic. Many students use the expository essay to explore a variety of topics, and do so in a wide range of formats, including “process” and “definition”...

Rather, the disability, the underlying genetic condition, or the relevant circumstances of conception are essentially linked to the child’s identity or existence. So, he must claim that his life was wrongfully caused, not only his disability. Jeff McMahan argues that some significant prenatal damage, occurring early in pregnancy, may affect the identity of the child. If he is correct, then such cases should be classified with the cases typically associated with wrongful life litigation. PREFACE Rationale We agreed to produce the instructor’s manual for the sixth edition of A First Look at Communication Theory because it’s a first-rate book and because we enjoy talking and writing about pedagogy. Yet when we recall the discussions we’ve had with colleagues about instructor’s manuals over the years, two unnerving comments stick with us: “I don’t find them much help”; and (even worse) “I never look at them.” And, if the truth be told, we were often the people making such points! With these statements in mind, we have done some serious soul-searching about the texts that so many teachers—ourselves...
