Is it worth it?
Why would anyone want to drive blind? That is the message NHTSA’s is trying to convey with a public service announcement labeled “STOP WRECKS. STOP TEXTS” (see Figure 1). It was first launched in October 2011 on billboards, bus shelters and airports all across the country, with the help of the Ad council. The reason this ad was launched was due to the growing number of fatalities caused by distracted driving and an attempt to stop it. The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA),which was established in 1970 is an agency whose mission is to “Save lives, prevent injuries, reduce vehicle-related crashes.” With the ad, taking place in a car, the first spot my eyes were attracted to was the text “Don’t let texting blind you” placed over the driver's face in the middle of the ad. Next I found my eyes looking left and hovering over the cell phone in his right hand. Then my eyes moved downward onto the word STOP in bright yellow font, following his one hand on the wheel, and …show more content…
STOP TEXTS..” This makes you think how many car related injuries happen as a result of texting while driving. The NHTSA recently released a survey that shows that at any daylight moment across America, approximately 660,000 people are using cell phones and electronics while driving, a number that held steady since 2010 ("NHTSA Survey Finds”). According to other NHTSA data, more than 3,300 people died because of distracted driving ("NHTSA Survey Finds”). The appeal to pathos also shows that the driver is confident in using his phone while having no remorse for people around him and risking their lives. We know this is something that many of us are guilty of. Our lack of caring for other’s safety has triggered car related injuries and sometimes even deaths. Many drivers see texting and driving risky when others do it, but fail to see that their safety is at stake as

...Chapter 1 SIGMUND FREUD AN INTRODUCTION Sigmund Freud, pioneer of Psychoanalysis, was born on 6th May 1856 in Freiberg to a middle class family. He was born as the eldest child to his father’s second wife. When Freud was four years old, his family shifted and settled in Vienna. Although Freud’s ambition from childhood was a career in law, he decided to enter the field of medicine. In 1873, at the age of seventeen, Freud enrolled in the university as a medical student. During his days in the university, he did his research on the Central Nervous System under the guidance of German physician `Ernst Wilhelm Von Brucke’. Freud received his medical degree in 1881and later in 1883 he began to work in Vienna General Hospital. Freud spent three years working in various departments of the hospital and in 1885 he left his post at the hospital to join the University of Vienna as a lecturer in Neuropathology. Following his appointment as a lecturer, he got the opportunity to work under French neurologist Jean Charcot at Salpetriere, the famous Paris hospital for nervous diseases. So far Freud’s work had been entirely concentrated on physical sciences but Charcot’s work, at that time, concentrated more on hysteria and hypnotism. Freud’s studies under Charcot, which centered largely on hysteria, influenced him greatly in channelising his interests to psychopathology.
