Rise Like a Phoenix

...if we only believe the things that we want to see. Sometimes the truth is the only thing that hurts us the most. But in the long run, would you rather live in a world full of lies than to live with the truth? Many Filipinos believe that the youth is the hope of this nation. But I believe that the youth is not simply the hope of the nation. The youth itself is the nation. Every little decision of the youth affects the future of the society. Every little deed makes up someone’s history. Every youth can be a hero in their own paths. But are they given that chance and opportunity to change the nation’s future? The word of the youth is commonly considered to be futile. In the society we live in someone’s worth or sense is measured by the age and by the number of wrinkles on one’s forehead. The truth is, the voice of the youth is more sincere and more straightforward. It is an honest voice which is overruled by emotions without any limitations or thoughts to consider because the youth is as innocent as an infant but not as aged as an elder. It means that the youth is like a hybrid of two magnificent states, the pureness of the mind of a child and the wisdom developed through time floating in a place of equilibrium. What can the youth do? What can the youth contribute to ease that pain that was inflicted to the Filipinos by the Filipinos themselves? The youth cannot do much with their physical prowess, nor can we help by our financial capabilities. All we can do is to become an......

Apollo Group (University of Phoenix) Case

...mission. What is their mission now? How has their mission changed, if at all? John Sperling started the Apollo Group, parent company of the University of Phoenix, in 1976. Sperling’s goal was to revolutionize orthodox higher education, and most people would say that he has done just that. Rather than catering to 18-22 year olds looking to find themselves, Sperling focused on the then-neglected market of working adults. He also recruited working professionals as teachers, rather than tenured professors. Most radical of all, while nearly all other universities are nonprofit, Sperling ran his university to make money. From the Apollo Group’s website, “Apollo Group, Inc. was founded in 1973 in response to a gradual shift in higher education demographics from a student population dominated by youth to one in which approximately half the students are adults and over 80 percent of whom work full-time. Apollo's founder, John Sperling, believed—and events proved him right—that lifelong employment with a single employer would be replaced by lifelong learning and employment with a variety of employers. Lifelong learning requires an institution dedicated solely to the education of working adults.” The case also provides the following UOP quote: By providing an accessible, high quality education, University of Phoenix is producing successful outcomes—graduates who are better positioned to enjoy the professional financial and personal benefits that a degree brings,......

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Review

...Life has its light and dark moments, but sometimes it feel like those dark moments overpower the light and happy ones. It seems like no matter what we try to do, it doesn’t get any better. If anything, it feels like it only got worse. However, even in the darkest of times, light can creep into our lives. That little bit of light can be just enough for someone to latch onto for hope. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was directed by David Yates with Warner Bros. Pictures helping market the film. This magic-filled 138 minute-long movie stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter; along with Emma Watson playing Hermione Granger and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley. This movie was rated PG-13 due to intense violence and some images in the movie, though not graphic, may be too extreme for a younger audience. Based off of the author J.K. Rowling’s critically acclaimed Harry Potter series, this movie adaptation brings her fifth book to life. As the rest of the Harry Potter movies have started, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix begins in the muggle world with Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) living with the Dursleys; it starts at an empty playground where Harry is tormented by his cousin Dudley. Everything seems okay for the both of them until the scenery changes into something like a horror movie. Harry and Dudley are attacked by a couple of rogue dementors in a tunnel, leaving Harry with only one way to defend himself and Dudley; with magic. News of this arrives at the......

...Phoenix Organics Case Analysis Jeremy Texas A&M University – Commerce Abstract Phoenix Organics has been a leader in the organic drink industry for a few decades and have sustained a rate of growth that is historic. However, in order to keep up the growth rate they will need to create a new strategy for their company. New Zealand high end markets have become more commonplace which has put the historic growth rate at risk. Not only that, but there are large companies such as Frucor and Coke that have taken more of the market share. Phoenix is looking for a future strategy which will maintain their sustainability because it has become part of their identity. Entering a new market, market segment or introducing a new product line would all be viable solutions. The key for the company is to stay true to their roots. A Worn Path

...by the symbolism surrounding the characters and the conflicts that are presented. “A Worn Path” is a character story told in a third-person point of view about an elderly, colored woman and her journey along a path she has taken many time before. Throughout the story Phoenix is involved in conflict by struggling against nature, social conditions and against her own physical circumstances. From the characters name alone we instantly envision a strong individual, the name implies a mythological creature that it said to be as large as an eagle, with brilliant scarlet and gold plumage. It was said that only one phoenix existed at any one time with a life expectancy of at least 500 years. As the phoenix approached the end of life, it would build a nest, set fire to it and would die in fire to only rise from the ashes and be stronger. Ironically, Phoenix has her hair in a red rag which correlates with the scarlet plumage of the ancient bird. Her name combined with the first two paragraphs deliver a meticulous description of our character: Far out in the country there was an old Negro woman with her head tied in a red rag, coming along a path through the pinewoods. Her name was Phoenix Jackson. She was very old and small and she walked slowly in the dark pine shadows, moving a little from side to side in her steps, with the balanced heaviness and lightness of a pendulum in a grand-father clock. She carried a thin, small cane made from an umbrella, and......

A Most Impressive Place I’ve Ever Been

...A most impressive place I’ve ever been After seeing so many views, a place kept occupying the most in my heart, which is named after Phoenix. A county of western Hunan province on the Luxi province border , at the south of Huaihua zone, covered an area of 1759.1 k㎡. Because of the rain, it has already turned into dark when we arrived. A blast of wind firstly blowed the smell of Phoenix County, mixed with the flavor of wet earth and grass, into my nose. It refreshed me soon and took all the discomfort away. As soon as I placed my luggage, I flew out from the hotel and couldn’t wait to unveil the view any more. In the dim light, I began to observe this lovely village. Even though it was evening, the phoenix was still shining and touching. On the both side of the road, fascinating bars lined abreast. Happy laughers and cheerful voices came out, enticing smell of food drifted in the air. A range of ethnic goods displayed at the roadside stands. The Tuo River just goes across the county from the west side to the east side, separating this town into two parts. However, those two parts are connected by a special kind of bridge, called ‘hundred- step bridge’. Strictly speaking, it’s not a bridge but a construction built with hundreds of respective stones. My foot stamped down on those stones as discreet as possible. Noises continued spreading from side to side until the night was filled with boisterous scenes. Bright lights reflected upon the water, breezes swept over causing......
