I didn't always think I was going to be this crazy, funny comedian, though. I was born on July 17, 1917 in Lima, Ohio. ("Phyllis Diller." IMDb. IMDb.com) I was practically a surprise to my parents. In November of 1916, my mother was having problems and pains and decided to go to the doctor. ( "Like a Lampshade in a Whorehouse": My Life in Comedy.) They told her it was a tumor. A few days later she went to the Lima Hospital to get it removed. But when they cut her open they didn't find a tumor, they found me. Then eight months later I came to this world. As I grew up in Lima I went to Lima Central High School. After high school I went to study for three years at Sherwood Music Conservatory in Chicago, Illinois. While I was there I served as the editor of our school’s newspaper for more of the humorous articles. Being a piano player was something I really enjoyed and I even went to school for it, but I was never completely confident enough in my performance and I couldn't have it as a possible career. My first stage acting appearance was “The Dark Top Of The Stairs”. In 1965 I ended my 26-year marriage with Sherwood. That gave me the idea to have a made up character named "Fang". I used "Fang" in my comedy skits and made up jokes about him. [2nd mem.] He wasn't based on any of my real husbands, he was fictional, just one of my characters for comedy. Just a month after I got divorced I married Ward Donovan. Then I moved on to TV series. I was in “Scooby Doo”, "Hey Arnold!", “Jimmy Neutron”, “Powerpuff Girls”, and “Family Guy”.('Phyllis Diller."
